The vac brake handle is called a 'jigger' so when you applied the brake it was called ' lifting the jigger' to let air in the system. All brake vans had screw couplings.

But I am struggling on a controller.I've been told I can use a standard dc controller on the small locos, but it needs more power if I get a class 20 for example.Doyou have any advice on controllers dc or dcc cheers david

If you look in the BR wagon books authored by D Larkin, you will see that alot of them had instanter couplings. It is a good model for the price.

Modeltrains are very cheap in the U.K. in comparison to mainland europe. But than again, i am a Märklin man. ;)
