3 Ways that I Create Waveguide Port in CST

  • In this video, I show you how I create a waveguide port in the CST microwave studio software. In method 1, you should use a formula for calculating a waveguide port for your RF circuits. In method 2, you can use a standard waveguide sample or any other waveguide that you want to use in your practical microwave applications.
    In method 3, we use the CST formula for creating a waveguide port. And it is effected by the thickness of your substrate and width of your strip line or microstrip line.
    I hope this video helps you to choose the right design for exciting your RF components and helps you to solve your error that you get in CST due to the operating frequency range. Because the size of the waveguide port could define a frequency range that you can excite and select the frequency range in CST Software.
    There are other ways for creating waveguide port in the CST software.
    In the future video, I am gonna talk more about electromagnetic simulation and design.

      Hello, For the absorber, you can use “plane wave” excitation or two horn antennas on each side of the absorber as the sender and receiver.

    How to excite the RFID chip.(Rectangular box in simulation).Third method is showing error.

      It depends on your design, for example, for some of the passive RFID, they use planar wave, That the see what is gonna happens when an outside wave interacts with the RFID.

      Hi, This is a table for the standard waveguide, if you search "Regular-Waveguide Sizes" you can find it on the interent. It is same for all countries.

      Your dielectric constant would be some how combination of them, depends on the thickness of each layers.
