Great video, Ash. I happened to be in Northampton last weekend and called into the Cheaney and Loake factory shops. I enquired about a tour of the Cheaney factory - love seeing the craftsmanship in producing quality men's shoes. Those boots you bought look fabulous. Look forward to watching that video. I've thought about investing in a pair of Trickers country boots - will be watching with interest. It's important we retain these quality British shoe manufacturers for generations to come.

Tricker’s are great. Kudu leather is one of the best, no breaking in required. They have it in burgundy, caramel, moss green and another shade of red. They also use Castorino suede in unlined boots and shoes for summer, which is not the typical split leather one finds on inferior footwear, but full reverse suede.

Fascinating. Now I really want a pair! Presumably these are similar quality to the Crockett and Jones Islay boots you mentioned in a recent video? It would be interesting to hear what made you choose the Trickers over the Islay in the end (if it was anything other than price). Looking forward to the "unboxing" video. By the way i popped into the C&J store at Royal Exchange after your previous video and the Islay boots are indeed beautiful. But now you've got me thinking Trickers!😊
I was not really a Tricker's fanboy, I would have always plumped for the C&J option - And then I was hugely fortunate to spend a few hours on the Tricker's factory floor seeing them being made and my soul was moved by the men and women making these outstanding shoes & boots. It has to be seen to be believed!
@@TheChapsGuide Thanks for the quick reply. The Jermyn Street store isn't that far from where I work so will visit and take a look. And then will need to find a reason to visit Northampton to go to the factory shop!
I own boots by Crockett and Jones and Trickers, several pairs from both, both are amazing, it's well worth a trip to Northamptonshire and they are a few minutes away from each other. My favourites are C and J is my rough out suede Coniston and my favourite Trickers my 40 years old Burford
It signifies that the product is officially sanctioned and used by a specific senior member of the British Royal Family. At the present time, His Majesty King Charles is the only person, who presently issues royal warrants.
21:53 I don’t necessarily agree Ash. It’s all about the management and the company’s ability to react, adapt to the times and current market. People haven’t stopped wearing footwear - please don’t pass off the failure of a business onto the public
I bought Tricker 50 years ago; the Tricker Tramper; plain tanned leather. Sadly today, and I know this sounds fabulously old man, but Tricker leather is just very stiff and hard. They’ve kept to a price so I suppose that’s the reason.
It’s a more generous last, so a comfortable fit with thicker socks, so perfect for cooler weather, or prolonged walking. Leather is superior in so much as thickness and construction is noticeably improved due to 100% hand production. But the Burford is half the price of the Trickers boot, so still an amazing boot. It’s a bit like comparing a BMW with a Rolls Royce.
I have Maltons in C Shade Tan. They are bulkier than my Cheney's but I love them. I hope HMCRIII renews their warrant, although he's against animal products. Me too, but leather is a waste product that is being recycled. Nothing is better.
An obviously...very stoutly made boot. Being an American, from Texas...I would love to own a pair. Maybe one day, I can thrift a pair off of ebay, or Poshmark. Gorgeous boots. American made shoes/boots...are far inferior to British made footwear. Even our best made footwear, by Alden, is not on the same level as British made footwear. The British...know what they are doing when it comes to footwear.
Good morning Ash, Chaps Back to Saturday routine of breakfast and Chap's Guide. What a fantastic review of a heritage company. Trickers make shoes for herring shoes when they have down time. I have trickers shoes never disappointed like buying a rolex same feeling
Ash you have persuaded me to the point of view that a pair of bespoke shoes or boots is just as valuable (or more so) than a bespoke suit.

Marks and Spencer down body warmer
@@TheChapsGuide cheers 👍
I gave Trickers a negative review of their Matlock Country Shoe and they have not published it.
Malton pronounced Malt-on, like the town in North Yorkshire, surely?
Do you also have a pair of Trickers Stows ?
No sir. These are my first Trickers.

I’ll gladly contribute to your next new pair .. no factory seconds ..
Lost in translation and from abroad. What is the royal warrant? :)
People haven’t stopped wearing footwear - please don’t pass off the failure of a business onto the public
what vest is that?
Sorry, it years old and I have no idea of the maker, but it is real down filled.
it's beautiful
I bought Tricker 50 years ago; the Tricker Tramper; plain tanned leather. Sadly today, and I know this sounds fabulously old man, but Tricker leather is just very stiff and hard. They’ve kept to a price so I suppose that’s the reason.
C-Shade
C-Shade is king.
Hows the quality compared to burford loake?
Fit and materials. Thanks
Thank you for the information
The British...know what they are doing when it comes to footwear.
video this long but you didnt touch your shoes or explain it at all, it was mind boogling
A good runner-up to @aldenshoe!
Good morning Ash, Chaps
Back to Saturday routine of breakfast and Chap's Guide.
What a fantastic review of a heritage company. Too few remaining companies like this, with the rise of bulk manufacturers in the Asian sub-continent.
I feel the enthusiasm of Scott percolating through your review.
Looking forward to the unboxing.

Glad you enjoyed it
@@TheChapsGuide Only shoe factory shop I've been to is Altberg in Richmond. I absolutely destroyed my first pair, through occupational abuse. 3 soles a couple of patch repairs before they were beyond salvage. I subsequently bout another pair which 15+ years later are still holding up. My Son has just got 2 pairs of Altbergs made to measure and paid for by the Job (lucky git)
*salute
Fascinating video Ash and let’s hope that this wonderful company continues for the foreseeable future and beyond.🫡
I hope so too!
