Mark, I like your videos about the Hubsan Quads. They helped me decide tro buy one. Even though I have 2 Dji drones, Spark and Mavic air, my 501ss is more fun to fly. you can't beat the cameras on the Djis but if you just want to fly the 501ss is very nice. I am considering getting the H109S with the H7000 controller. Anyway, thanks for the videos, been watching a while. Terry
Great set of videos on the 501S-S Mark. I just ordered this quad from TomTop for $119.99! I should get it in the mail next week. The guidance in your videos will be very helpful. My main quad is a Mavic 2 Zoom, and I expect this will be a good companion for that drone. I also have a Zino on the way. You can't have enough drones!
Nice summary of the 501ss Mark. I think mine has logged about 38 trouble-free flights... love flying it. Glad I went for the std tx; the larger screen size is invaluable. I mounted both stock antennas on the tx externally - longest flight so far was 1,942m with clear fpv. A homemade reflector for the 2.4 antenna has worked great; split a chapstick cylinder down the middle & wrapped it in aluminum foil... boosted the control range quite a bit... confident I’ll get out beyond 2km soon. Thanks fir the ongoing vids!
It's good to hear their quality has improved. I have a 501S that has been sitting in my basement since it quit working last summer. First the camera started getting fuzzy, then nothing. Drone turned on, beeped and wouldn't bind to controller. I have a new main board, just need time to see if I can change it out.
My brother Mark is back with a great reminder, the Hubsan H501SS is a badass quad!!! Mark was the number one reason why I purchased the H501SS and the extended range antenna mod. Brother, I greatly appreciate your help and every and each second of all the content you’ve created to make our life’s a little easier and more fun:) Thank you bro! Tyl!
Thanks for another informative video. Just ordered my 3rd H501ss from Hubsan. They are great flyers. I have the advance controller on mine and have flown 1653m out before the loss of fpv. Drone could have gone farther, but no blind flying for me. Too risky!
If you replace the stock Hubsan panel antenna with a higher dBi panel antenna, you'll be able to get further FPV range. Something like a 14 dBi Panel. The Hubsan panel antenna is about 6 dBi , so it's really not made for long range. This antenna is one of the best for the 501 -> m.gearbest.com/fpv-system/pp_436713.html?wid=1527929.
Good video once again. I've enjoyed my SS version for about a year now. I want your blue antenna to get that incredible range ☺ Indoor fpv is your friend when the weather is bad. Happy flying!
What's bro good video valuable info for the people's I appreciate you Mark for all your help and looking forward to more videos from you.O yeah how did you crash the other Hubsan?
Great video Mark, it and a few others convinced me to get the 501s-s which arrived a few days ago. I have only been able to try a couple of short low altitude "get to know you" flights because of very high winds, I can't wait to really put it through it's paces when the winds abate. This is my first drone and I highly suggest newbies like me to watch your videos and another... Top 5 Rookie Drone Mistakes.... which is also very good, actually I have watched about 20 different drone information videos before I even took delivery of my 501s-s and I was able to do many of the maneuvers covered in the videos with ease in the short low altitude flights so far. I am quite surprised at how relaitively easy the 501s-s is to control and it is very stable and responsive to the slightest touch...just remember...gently, gently move controls is better than ram and hard shove which is usually followed by "oh F***, I just crashed my drone" One of the best tips I learned was If you loose your quad (not over water of course) then copy the coordinates from your controller into google earth on your smartphone and it will show where your quad landed. Thanks for posting your informative videos Mark
I’ve had a few fly offs with the advanced controller on the h501s , lots of bushwalking to find it , updated both antennas to after market as you said in previous vids and she gold now mate , thanks for the tips 🤙🏻
Absolutely ! I don't understand why people think the H906A Controller is Meant for the H501S !?? It's Not ! It's made and designed for the H109S X4 Pro. Thanks for your comments and watching. Currently working on more videos. Thank you Very much for your Support.
Hey Mark. Lost my 501ss due to pilot error. Lost tx power while flying due to low battery. I bought new 501ss without tx . My tx doesn't want to recognize new bird. Is there a binding procedure that I need to do ? Please help. Thanks man.
Slydad Slydad Hello :-) First, if your Controller's battery went completely dead, or even if you shut it off, the quad should have went into "lost signal" RTH FailSafe. Unless it was not in GPS Mode Or it Did not have at least 6 satellites, Before You Armed the props. Yes, if you want to use your controller for another quad, you have to bind it. The procedure is as follows : #1 have your quad and your controller ready to go, very close to each other. With the battery on the quad unplugged, Hold the "Picture Button" down and turn On Only the controller. The controller should then go into its binding mode. You should see on the FPV screen "Bind To Plane", release the Picture Button. #2 set the controller damn near on top of the Quad or extremely close. #3 Plug in the Quad's Flight Battery. Make sure you do this with no sources of interference such as Wi-Fi routers and so forth. After you plug in the flight battery, wait a few... You should hear the normal ring tone of the Quad like it's initializing and then after a moment, you should have FPV on the screen and it should say Calibrate Compass 1. That is a successful Bind. Keep in mind, sometimes you have to repeat the process if it does not work the first time and if it doesn't work, move the controller, it needs to be damn near up the Quad's ass... :-)
Great video Mark. Mine is just H501S but love it. Mine came with re-chargeable battery in transmitter and also a sun screen that I had to build. Does this mean mine is a later Standard model?
Yes, Almost 100% certainty that you received the h501ss. I maded a video, on how to tell the difference. Here is the link if you want to watch it, it explains exactly how you can tell if you have an h501s or an h501ss... : ua-cam.com/video/7P-BNb7Y_5I/v-deo.html
hi Mark like you break down on the Husband 501ss . problem getting spares you never named stores you can purchase like I need LED board number 3517 u no where I can purchase regards Bob
A good place for small electrical components is www.mouser.com/Connectors/Board-to-Board-Mezzanine-Connectors/Images/_/N-ay0kr?Keyword=3517&FS=True . Not sure why you need that but Banggood.com also carries a pretty big selection of spare parts, or even Gearbest.com
Hey brother Mark how's your summer so far I hope great well I have another question to day I went flying with my Hubsan h501S-S and I bought some red propellers and the drone was all over the place every time I yard left or right it wouldn't stay in one place like it normally would plus it was shaking while hovering is it those propellers they wasn't from Hubsan but they looked like the Hubsan propellers
amir newson Hey Bro ! Summer is going okay, only had a couple chances to fly my quads because of work and weather. As far as your h501ss moving around and also shaking, that would definitely be the propellers. They're not balanced or they have the wrong pitch angles. I actually had a similar problem recently when I put my original h501s propellers on my SS. It had a bad wobble coming from the right rear arm. I landed it and took them off and put the SS propellers back on and the problem went away. Definitely the Props bro ! The propellers for the SS have a certain diameter and pitch because they are designed for that quad. It's a very lightweight quad, so if you have a Slightly Damaged OR Slightly Unbalanced Prop, it's Definitely going to Shake & Move around. The brushless motors on that quad spin very fast ! Since the SS is Lightweight to begin with, any Unusual Propeller Movement messes up it's GPS Hold & will cause Shaking. Be Careful because if you continue to use Props that cause wobbling / shaking, you can wreck the motor bearings and or the Entire motor...
Mark Suttner thanks bro now I know not to just buy propellers because they look cool lol take care mark your awesome bro I'll be getting my DJI maverick air next month has a set back with car issues.
Slydad The Best 5.8 Controller frequency varies from every antenna. "Usually" 5745 - 5760 MHZ works best for Higher Gain Antennas (dBi's). Using 12-14 dBi Panels. 5755 Seems to be the sweet spot for me, using the M-EGAL Panel Antenna.
Thanks Mark. I'm on 5755. Have antenna comming from China. Ordered one with antenna that looks like M-EGAL panel. Only mod that I'v made is to bring stock antenna to outside of controller . Loosing FPV signal at about 500/600 meters. Thanks again.
Hello Slydad. It is really difficult which frequency hits the good range. Today I used the wrong one for hill region. 100 m and some steps more and the transmission was really bad. Need to check each frequency ... At the moment the antennas are inside like delivered.
Mark, thank you for the informative videos. I just bought an 501ss but it needs a prop. I also don’t have a tool. It doesn’t appear hubsan stocks anything these days. Do you know where I can get decent props. From the looks amazing has some but the reviews aren’t too good. Thanks in advance.
jim buxton Hey Jim. The 501's / H501S-S are Not soldered anymore. They have the Simple Ipex connectors. The circular looking connector on the circuit board is called a U.fl connector. Not sure why some people were receiving controllers with the Antenna's Coax wires soldered. 90% of the time it was only the 2.4 module. I believe it was done during a period of time where the FAA was practically crawling up drone manufacturers asses.. so, in order to make it difficult to extend the range of what is considered a "Toy Grade" quad, they soldered the wires to make it more difficult to mod the 2.4 module for Extended Range Capabilities. Anyways, to answer your question, I have not heard of any coming soldered anymore. My SS did have a glob of Hot Glue over the Ipex - U.fl connection but it was easy to remove. Used 91% rubbing alcohol and a Q tip to remove the Hot Glue. Actually made a video doing it. Make sure you buy from a well-known company ! Very Important Jim !! Thx 4 watching !!
jim buxton The 501's are coming shipped/flown to us with Hot Glue over the Ipex connectors for 1 of 2 reasons. #1 They are trying to "Unintentionally" make it a little bit more difficult to Mod for Extended Range. Because of the FAA and Absolute Morans who post videos of 501's flying 1,000 Meters High in Altitude ! Absolutely Rediculous ! Dangerous as well !!! #2 Not 100%, However they could be putting it on there to make sure it doesn't pop off. That doesn't seem logical for a "mostly" stationary Controller. #1 seems to be the most of relevance. Idiots flying Extremely too high. However, they are "probably" using Removable Hot Glue instead of Solder for Responsible Pilots that want to have long range capabilities. Know what I mean ??
Thanks Mark you really helped bro I think I'm going to get the DJI SPARK I'm basically looking for a reliable distance drone that I really can trust what you think?
amir newson If you are leaning towards a DJI product, you may want to consider a Mavic or a Mavic Air Before a Spark. The spark is very small... It's damn near half the size of a h501s. I've seen some pretty amazing things done with both the Mavic & Mavic Air. Just remember, when you start getting into DJI products, you are getting into some big $ ! Also, they are not like Hubsan quads. They don't use real-time 5.8 for FPV, or anything similar. They use Wi-Fi for both control signals and fpv reception. Also, as you probably already know, you have to connect your smartphone or tablet to the controller, have the app running, etc. Etc. DJI is one of the most expensive hobbyist drone manufacturers ever. Like any other company, they make everything proprietary. Meaning you can't really use anything after market, it must be made by DJI to work or fit Correctly... It's something breaks or you crash it, it's pretty expensive to fix bro...
amir newson It's your money to spend brother.. I have not seen the h109s X4 Pro for that low of a price in a very long time. I'm talking about like a year ir Two !! I think I'm actually going to buy another one of those because for$390 that is a good buy ! Usually they are $425 - $470 ! I wouldn't hesitate on buying another one and I think I'm actually going to! I sent you the link to gearbest.com they're having a flash sale on that drone and the advanced version h501ss ! Personally don't like the "Advanced Controller", but they are 34% Off ! $185 -> m.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_264426.html?wid=1433363. H109S X4 Pro "Low Edition" -> m.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_330810.html?wid=1433363.
amir newson Also the H109S X4 Pro RTH's Almost Exactly where it landed. "Almost" Everytime (Give or take 2-3 feet ! I have flown the h109s in 25 MPH Winds !! I'm not at all trying to persuade you to buy any particular quad. It is your money and your decision. The Spark is a Great Quad as well. It makes up for its little size by having pretty powerful Motors. It does have an Optical flow sensor on the belly for more stable GPS hover. However, if you're going to spend that much money, I would highly recommend getting the Mavic Air (Slightly cheaper version of the Mavic).. But Performance is Optimal ! I've seen people fly the Mavic Air 5 Miles Away, During a Rainstorm & RTH with it being just fine !! The Spark is a Little closer to the "Selfie Type Drone". That's actually what it was made and built for. That's why it has gesture controls and things like that. Although, you can fly it out pretty far. I haven't watched tons of videos about it because it's just too small for my liking because Winds can come out of nowhere and if you're going to spend that much money on something that flies, you Better make Damn sure it ain't going to Flip ! Ya know ? Anyways, I'm not sure how much money you want to spend on a drone but DJI products are very expensive. For example, look at the DJI Inspire 2.0 with a Zenmuse camera ! $10,000 - $30,000 !!! Regular Inspire 2.o --> $3,000 - $10,000 !!! Anyways, I know it is very hard to make a decision. I've been looking at the Mavic Pro Edition for a very long time now. That Drone is absolutely amazing bro ! But it comes with a Very Nice Price Tag ! As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for". Very true, especially with Quadcopters !!
Hey Mark what's going on bro I got another question I went to charge my batteries this morning and I was missing one out of the two I had so I went out to the park where I always fly at and there it was after two weeks sense the last time I flew my h501S-S it show no rust in the connectors no swelling and for the last two weeks it has rain a little here and there is it still good to use
amir newson It should be okay to use. If you have a professional charger, you should check the internal resistance of the cells and look at the capacity and voltage. You might want to discharge it unless it is already drained and then charge it again (Slowly, like a 1 Amp Rate) just to be on the safe side. Just make sure there is no moisture or water inside the outer wrapping and it should be fine Brother !
Mark Suttner thanks Mark I have ordered my DJI but I'm just going to get the Spark for now my wife is not to happy with me buying the Maverick Air for that type of money so I settled on the Spark to keep a happy home lol again thanks bro for your wisdom and knowledge
Hi Mark, I was flying mine at my son's house this evening and he was well impressed, took some great stills also. I now have the antenna upgrade which I bought from Banggood. The FPV antenna has a red stem, but will not stay upright like yours and falls down on its own weight, drooping downwards, it rotates freely once screwed in, don't know if this is right.
IRISHROVER If it is tightened onto the SMA on the controller and it moves, it's broken. There are 2 Solder points inside the panel. There is also Two connection points at the bottom of the "Coax"/Stem. If those break, they will not transmit or receive signal. Is there a plastic heat shrink around the stem going to the bulkhead on your antenna? If there's not, it's going to swing around but it Should Never "Fall" or Droop down...
Can't be broken as you get footage on the screen. It does have heat shrink at the bottom of the stem were it connects to the coax on the transmitter. The square panel can still be pointed at the drone, it just doesn't in an upward position. I've seen this on other folks video uploads. It's not the panel that swivels, just the stem. I have been removing the antennas after use to fit in my backpack. Just tightened the coax nut with pliers and all good. I had it on finger tight.
IRISHROVER So, it was just loose ? Yes, that would definitely cause it to swivel. I thought you meant the actual coax was drooping like a dead flower or something. Lol :-) ! I remove my antennas as well and always use small pliers or Robo grips to make sure they're tight otherwise they will swing loose... Glad it's not broke, have Fun !!
I have the H906A controller with 501SS. And thanks to you I found out how to turn the Led lights On/flashing/and off, by holding down both joysticks and pushing throttle trim botton for 2secs. Its awesome for night flights!!! I also found out how to do circle me mode, by pushing and holding the Down arrow key for 1sec.
John S I used the H501SS, the "H901A" Standard Controller with the External Antenna Mods. Only a 3dBi Dipole and a 14dBi Panel Antenna. Here is 2 Flights : FIRST -> ua-cam.com/video/mK65FPO72Lw/v-deo.html. SECOND -> ua-cam.com/video/3ctTn-Xv6v0/v-deo.html
Hi greetings from Mex., i was excited when i bought a few days ago my H501s, but i was blind about different versions, guess what, actually check my drone and im lucky, is the SS versión cuz, i noticed my friends dont have the included sunshade and lipo battery for the transmitter, ill take da first fly tomorrow, thanx for the tip. I justo have a little flickr on my screen i bind it wrong?
Hey ! Greetings from Wisconsin ! Not sure what you mean by a "flicker" ? If it's your FPV Screen, you might just have a bad video reception. If you have the Standard Controller, you should do the external antenna mods. Binding wouldn't have anything to do with a screen flicker. All Binding does is connect your 2.4 Control Signal, from the controller to the quad. If you have the Advanced Controller, you might have a bad SMA to Ipex cable inside the controller. If you could explain a bit more, I could probably help you better.
@@MarkSuttner Oh thanx Mark, when i turned on the transmitter for the first time, and the bird, my screen make problems like blinking vídeo and blank sometimes, yet more taking the drone and turning upside and downside, then i call dealer and recomend me bind; i bind it inside my home, not outside yet, but this action almost finish this problem , cuz when i move my Drone, happen anything. I was fine with it?
@@merlinelmaje Not sure I'm understanding everything correctly, that your saying. #1 Binding is Only for the 2.4 gigahertz Control signal. It just pairs the Transmission (controller) to the Receiver (The Quad). Binding Will Not interfere, with the Completely Separate 5.8 Video Signal. The 2.4 & 5.8 are Completely different. Reference -> Any Monitor, that can receive a 5.8 gigahertz video signal can show you the same video signal as the controller. Any Monitor, not just your Controller. #2 If you can fly your quad, it is bound Correctly. No worries about that. Your having a problem with the 5.8 GHz Video Signal Only, not anything to do with Binding the quad. That's only for the Control Signal. You may only need to adjust your Controller's 5.8 Reception Frequency. That is done in the Menu. Depending on which Controller you have. Do you have the Standard or Advanced Controller ? I've found that 5745, 5755 & 5760 MHz , works the best for Both controllers. My SS, came with the controller frequency set at 5780 MHz . I had to change it to 5760 MHz, in the Menu. 5780 MHz and above, is Too High, and can cause flicker and complete loss of the video signal. Again, if you can fly your quad, it Is Bound Correctly. So there is something going on with the 5.8 GHz Reception. Which Controller Do you have ??
i will be getting my first drone and i’m wondering how difficult it will be to drill those holes and to attach the new antennas. do i have to take the controller apart or what is inside to connect or hook onto?
Very Simple to do the external antenna modifications. --> ua-cam.com/video/fCibtj-YgRI/v-deo.html. Just take your time and be careful. There's not much u can damage with the standard controller except for the Ipsex - UFL connectors. The are small and require a little delicacy.
Hey Mark how are you bro I got a quick question I was thinking about purchasing the Hubsan h109s and I would like your opinion on it's performance and distances I know you did a video on it but needed to know if it is worth buying. Thanks bro
amir newson That's a Tough one ! It's a pretty cool quad because of the gimbal and everything that comes with it. It's big, fights wind good and looks nice. I recently crashed mine, very hard. It just happened to land on a small concrete pathway that was only 3 feet away from the Grass ! I was flying it very fast in altitude hold and it did a classic tumble of death. I'm almost positive that the crash was caused by the propellers. When you put the flight battery in that quad, it's pretty damn heavy! Under Pressure and speed the propellers began to flex and wobble causing aerodynamic instability and in the end result it crashed, hard. I was able to fix it but it took me nearly a month ! It is very sensitive to interferences. Whether that be satellite reception or bad Compass Calibrations, WI-FI Bubbles, Cell Towers, etc. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice bird to have. However, if you buy one, get some propellers made by Master airscrew. It will give it way better Air Management and it's less likely to crash. In GPS hold I didn't have many Problems at all, except for a few Out of couple hundred Flights. It kept losing satellite reception. Which automatically puts the quad in altitude hold. I'm not sure what they are selling for right now... When I bought mine it was on a flash sale from gearbest and I only paid $365 I think... Everytime I look now they are over $400. They do have the same 8 APM processor as the 501s. Strange, but they do. That processor controls all the autonomous functions. In a nutshell, the h109s X4 Pro is basically a 501s, on Steroids, with landing gear and a camera with a gimbal. Unless you purchase the high Edition which comes with the H7000 Smart Touch Screen transmitter and a 3-axis brushless gimbal. The medium Edition comes with the H906A controller and a 2 axis brushless gimbal. The Low Edition comes with the H906A controller and a 1 axis Servo controlled gimbal. They are nice, just be sure to get aftermarket propellers !! I'm not even sure why they have an altitude hold feature with that quad, it's pretty damn big and the way it's designed, it's not meant to fly very fast like a racing drone. However it is pretty cool when those motors spool up ! It's a Loud Bird and it is extremely fast !! If you have anymore questions, let me know bro !
Hey Mark, another lecture for Newbies about the two nice hubsan birds. They will be glad to hear verifiable content from you. What do you think about the free video software? Have you made good experiences? Which one is quick to use? Is it Shotcut? :-)
Stefan Vieregg M.A. Are you referring to the video editing software I use to make some videos? Used to have a little square bar at the bottom right screen that said [CyberLink by PowerDirector] ? If you're referring to that editing software, yes it's Great and allows you to add words, scripts, beginning Intros, edit your footage down with video clip transitions. I had the Free version of PowerDirector for a long time but finally paid for the Regular Software. It was only like $10 US. It gives you more effects, transitions, etc. Only thing is you have to use a Smartphone or Tablet to use it. So, you have to transfer your video footage to the device, using a MicroSD card reader/writer and so forth. After you complete your video, you can directly upload to UA-cam through Wi-Fi, after you "Produce" the video which saves to internal storage or the devices SD card. It's not really a "Shortcut", however since they Removed the "UA-cam Editor", you can no longer combine video clips and make a fluid video. So, if you want to use different videos or pictures and make a fluid video, then PowerDirector is a Great tool to use. They do have a "Trial Version" that is free. Once you get to know how to use the software, you can make some Very Cool & Brilliant Videos.
Thanks a lot, I'll try it. I have loaded some software down. VSDC free video editor, Avidemux (open source), lightworks, most is complicated with long run for the jump. The app Video Cutter Edit is very easy, then you need MP4Joiner, also very easy, and ready is the new film for people with less time. Also Shotcut is good for assembling and postproduction when you have checked the cutting or you cut with the Cutter Editor :)
Stefan Vieregg M.A. I also have Multiple Types of Editing Software. I've found PowerDirector to be the Easiest, Fastest and an Extremely Good Editor. For a laptop or PC version of the PowerDirector Software, it is However A Lot More Expensive than an App for a device. Try out the free version of PowerDirector ! It's Great ! You can do Audio Overlays, Picture in Picture, Awesome Clip Transitions, add background music, etc. I know most other editing software has the same features, however PowerDirector is pretty easy to get a feel for and use Quickly. I have A Lot of Video/Picture editors but PowerDirector is my go to. Once you get to know how to use all the features, it's really easy to get your videos done quickly. I don't have a lot of time, so I need to be fast. Too Much Work ! 50-55 hours per week !
Stefan Vieregg M.A. There is also a similar editing app made by CyberLink called "ActionDirector". Don't waste your time downloading that app. After I paid for "PowerDirector", CyberLink came out with a new app called ActionDirector. I downloaded it and found out it was more for putting pictures together, not video footage. Using PowerDirector, you can already overlay pictures onto your video if you want to and make a video "collage" with pictures. Anyways, definitely try the free trial version before you pay for it, just to make sure that you like it. The only problem I have ever had with it, is when trying to transfer video footage from the H109S to my smartphone. The H109S records it's video as a .MOV file. For some odd reason, Android devices Will Not play and Are Not even compatible with .MOV files. You can always use a GoPro or a different camera, instead of the stock camera that comes with h109s if you need to transfer the files to an Android device. The H501SS, records it's video as .MP4 files. Absolutely No Problems with that. Only the 109S Stock camera's video. Not the jpeg format pictures, only the .MOV video footage. :-)
Hi Mark, I know you tested the FPV1, therefore let me ask you have you had a binding problem to H501S? When you succeed in binding do you see the telemetry datas? FPV view is available but not height, distance etc...
Hey Mark. You seem to be an expert on Hubsans I recently bought a 502s a few days ago from Amazon it was missing the protective sleeves on the switches and came I a bigger white box. Do you or anyone else know if that’s how they are packaged or did I get one that was missing items. Thanks.
Kevin I think you have been sold an "As new, used drone". I just got my 501s-s bought from UK supplier on eBay and everything was covered in protective sleeves and a protective film on the H906A Controller screen. I ended up with a huge pile of plastic sleeves/bags after unboxing. If the drone was sold as "New" you should take it up with Amazon and they will refund you the purchase.
Hey Mark how you been bro I have a question today I went flying my h501S-S and I noticed it only recorded video for 1 minute and then 45seconds I have 16gb card that I been using sense January do you think it's doing that because the sd card is full
amir newson That is a possibility that your micro SD card is full and cannot accept any more data. If you don't know how to check how much data is in the SD card, you need a micro SD card reader/writer, that you put into the USB port on a laptop. Or a tablet that has a built-in microSD card slot. To check how much storage is available on your card. If using a laptop all you have to do is right-click on your mouse or touchpad and select "Properties". That will show you, on a pie chart or something similar, how much data (space) is available or if your card is full. A 16GB micro SD card actually only gives you "About" 14.5 GB of data. Because of the FAT32 format it needs a little space (data) of its own to work properly... "File Allocation Table 32". If it is full, then that would be your issue. You can either open and delete some of your video footage and or pictures, to free up some space on the card or you can format it which will erase everything. What I usually do is send/save all my data (videos and photos) from the card to a USB flash drive. Once they are saved to an external flash drive or an external hard drive or even to your computer, you can format the card and start over again but you still have all your videos and photos, they're just stored/saved in a different device. If your card isn't full, then you might have accidentally pressed the video button but I'm guessing it's probably full. You can save the data and reformat the card like I said earlier or you can just keep the card and get another one, it's up to you brother.
The Boss I do that sometimes too. Forget to stop recording and if you unplug the battery, it does not save. However, sometimes I tried to stop the recording but it just doesn't stop... It only did that to me like 3 times and usually it was after like a 20-minute flight and a recording time of 15 minutes or more. The first long-range flight I did right after I put external antennas on my controller, the quad would not stop recording. I pressed the video button Multiple times to try to get it to stop, so it would save but it just kept going... I lost all the footage from that flight. That happened a couple other times but it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. Thanks for the support Brother !
I own a h501S and a h501S-S (the advanged one) For the both: no problems whatsoever! The Hubsan H109S X4 PRO is on his way :-) You can buy a DJI but you pay a lot of money just for the name. Money down the shit-shute!
I also have All 3. The Original H501S, the H501SS and the H109S X4 Pro. Your Absolutely Correct about DJI and their Extremely High Prices ! However, DJI actually uses THE Best and most Recent Technologies in their equipment. I'm Not a DJI "Fan", I don't like the concept of a WI-FI controlled Drone. Too many interferences, lagging and No Long Range capabilities. However, I've been noticing that there is More and More "Real Time" Direct 2.4 & 5.8 Signal Interferences, as the air becomes more bombarded by signals, cell towers becoming Stronger, Everything from towers to WI-FI Routers are Extremely Powerful now a days. Since DJI incorporates it's "Own" WI-FI bubble between the controller and the drone, it can essentially Block out almost all outside Signal Interferences. It's becoming harder and harder to fly Any aircraft using 2.4 for TX. There's too much outside Interferences. I have to drive about an Hour out of the city, towards open Farm Land just to be able to fly Any of my Hubsan quads ! If I try and fly near my home, or even the local park, I get signal Interference. It's a shame.
I only buy direct from Hubsan, in their LA,Ca office (See eBay seller "Hubsanus") & cuz I'm a preferred customer (have bought H507A, H501S Pro, Zino, & H501S-S, also lots of acc stuff like controllers, motors, props, battery's, body shells, etc) , so they set me up in June with a new "no compass calib needed firmware" *H501S-S!!!* ....WITH.... 2 bird battery's, 1 transmitter battery, the cheezy stock balance charger,+ came w/ the FPV1 H906A trans w/ sunscreen, & an extra prop set ....wait for it................... *135$* But I want waypoint missions for this 501S-S dammit...miss that feature Take it from another Mark,....another great, informative video sir! _"Fly High, Stay Low!!"_
Thanks for the information. I got the SS Pro straight from Hubsan and it included two drone batteries and a Li-Po for the transmitter for $219.
Brother, I greatly appreciate your help and every and each second of all the content you’ve created to make our life’s a little easier and more fun:)
Thank you bro! Tyl!
Phillip XCS. Thanks Phillip ! I Really Appreciate the Support ! :-)
frish sas Absolutely ! Those are all Really Nice, high quality, very dependable drones ! Especially the Mavic Pro ! Thanks Brother !! :)
Here's where I bought the Blue Wired antenna --> m.gearbest.com/fpv-system/pp_436713.html?wid=1433363
Thanks for the link!
I am quite surprised at how relaitively easy the 501s-s is to control and it is very stable and responsive to the slightest touch...just remember...gently, gently move controls is better than ram and hard shove which is usually followed by "oh F***, I just crashed my drone"
One of the best tips I learned was If you loose your quad (not over water of course) then copy the coordinates from your controller into google earth on your smartphone and it will show where your quad landed.
: ua-cam.com/video/7P-BNb7Y_5I/v-deo.html
hi Mark like you break down on the Husband 501ss . problem getting spares you never named stores you can purchase like I need LED board number 3517 u no where I can purchase
regards
Bob
Hey Mark. Good information and good advice. Very good video. I do have one question. What 5.8 frequency do you recommend ? Thanks for sharing.
Hi Mark, Great vid!! Are the antenna leads inside the controller soldered or Ipex connector to the board, on the 501's currently shipping?
jim buxton Hey Jim.
Mark Suttner Good to known Mark. Thanks very much for the info my friend!
The Boss Thanks much Boss, 👍
jim buxton The 501's are coming shipped/flown to us with Hot Glue over the Ipex connectors for 1 of 2 reasons.
Yup, thanks much Mark.
It's something breaks or you crash it, it's pretty expensive to fix bro...
amir newson Flash Sale Right Now Bro ! m.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_330810.html?wid=1433363
Mark Suttner I know what you mean I just what a drone that can get good distance and less worries with RTH and can handle wind MPH AT least 10 MPH
amir newson It's your money to spend brother..
2350 meters and on 1 battery!!! Amazing! Is that the non advanced with upgraded antennas?
Its just a minimal, but i dont wanna lost my bird on practice, so i ask too About cal freq. 5.8
@@MarkSuttner hi again, i have SS versión , standard with battery inside and sunshade, Mark.
i will be getting my first drone and i’m wondering how difficult it will be to drill those holes and to attach the new antennas. do i have to take the controller apart or what is inside to connect or hook onto?
Very Simple to do the external antenna modifications. --> ua-cam.com/video/fCibtj-YgRI/v-deo.html. Just take your time and be careful. There's not much u can damage with the standard controller except for the Ipsex - UFL connectors. The are small and require a little delicacy.
Mark Suttner thank you
Hey Mark how are you bro I got a quick question I was thinking about purchasing the Hubsan h109s and I would like your opinion on it's performance and distances I know you did a video on it but needed to know if it is worth buying. Thanks bro
amir newson That's a Tough one !
Okay let's test it. Easy handling and high output is important. Problem my HD memory is at its end. I load six different programs ...
Mark I think I got a bad remote with my 501ss white drone.can you help..I sent you a megg to your youtube channel
Hi Mark, I know you tested the FPV1, therefore let me ask you have you had a binding problem to H501S? When you succeed in binding do you see the telemetry datas? FPV view is available but not height, distance etc...
Stefan Vieregg M.A. you can turn the Telemetry data on the screen On & Off by pressing the Exit button.
Uuh, so easy :-) Thank you!!
Stefan Vieregg M.A. No Problem ! Anytime Brother ! :-)
Great informational
Video 👍🏻
Going to get the 501ss
Don't forget to get a top quality SD card too not eBay rubbish , cheers MS another great vid mate
Thanks Mate !!
Mark Suttner thanks Mark for your help bro I really appreciate you
I own a h501S and a h501S-S (the advanged one) For the both: no problems whatsoever!
I only buy direct from Hubsan, in their LA,Ca office (See eBay seller "Hubsanus") & cuz I'm a preferred customer (have bought H507A, H501S Pro, Zino, & H501S-S, also lots of acc stuff like controllers, motors, props, battery's, body shells, etc) , so they set me up in June with a new "no compass calib needed firmware" *H501S-S!!!*
....WITH.... 2 bird battery's, 1 transmitter battery, the cheezy stock balance charger,+ came w/ the FPV1 H906A trans w/ sunscreen, & an extra prop set ....wait for it................... *135$*
But I want waypoint missions for this 501S-S dammit...miss that feature
Take it from another Mark,....another great, informative video sir!
_"Fly High, Stay Low!!"_
I jus.t got the ss and got the upgraded transmitter and 2 drone batteries and 1 battery for the transmitter all for $189 shipped from California
Will ether controller work
WOW! That's a nice collection!
Thank You ! I didn't have enough room on my pool table to fit all my RC equipment. Lol... ;)
