In my view it's the best modle among Mercedis cars and was intended to compete with its counterparts. The next generation succeeding it which is the 124 is not stroner than this modle. I hope to own another one in a good condition in my country Sudan.
Beautiful car... I miss my old 240D & 320D. I drive a nice E350 with all the new electronics. GPS & rear view camera is nice, as is adaptive cruise control & satellite audio. Heated/ventilated seats are nice too. But it just doesn’t feel the same. The simplicity of hand crank windows and manual sunroof were great. The wonderful diesel sound and durability. I always felt like I could drive across the continent and definitely could. Modern technology ruined great old cars.

I spotted signs of rust near where he zoomed but it was a bit too fast away.Also Having owned 4 of these I'd get under with a lamp and check the rear lower wish-bone /shock absorber mounting areas.They collect water, corrode and eventually crack free. Nice car probably re-sprayed and valeted.
@@ianrutherford878 I don't really think that you can tell "rust" for any of those areas because I have a limit of rust acceptance on these cars and I think this is way more under that limit :) And for me, exceptionally perfect cars are for museums, I usually don't chase them cos I like driving these on a daily basis. but yes you're right he doesn't go under it, it's a must. I never had a 123 but owned 2 different w115s.
@@cevim O.K. well I guess I'm questioning 'perfect' Because although I don't even fight rust on my cars,I've seen fully restored, new metal where needed, dipped, rust-protected /galvanised totally stripped body shells, complete repaint inside,outside and underneath.They are 'perfect' for as long as someone can keep them dry, salt -free etc..Not my thing at all. I have a put-together from 2 different years 220D W123D right now.Messy looking but SO reliable.I'd like that 5th gear though. Mine has only 4 and at Swedish highway speeds the motor is a bit too busy and could easily push another gear.
It's clear that the car has just been repainted. You also point it out by focusing on the trim to make it look it's a good paint job. It is ! But not perfect: there's a tear above the right headlamp and some paint transfer on some of the trims. All in all the car is just a beauty !
True.I think I spotted some blistering along one of the rear horizontal stretches by the trunk.And underneath where the paint-job stops the usual signs of corrosion.However these bodies are so much heavier and better built than any competitors that I have owned much much worse examples that have gone thru 5 years of inspections without failing on rust.
I wish I was you,such a great beautiful car,you should be very proud of it.I had 1981 230 E petrol from new,it must have been a Friday car.A South African made model.We had endless problems,sad but I wish I still had it now.Congratulation and good luck
