Played this game daily for years, then ran out of things to do and stopped for a few months. Then bought myself a few more months with Realism Overhaul. Not at all unhappy about having to pay for the DLC and getting another half-million hours of gameplay.
I was an early adopter so I wont have to but I would gladly pay for a DLC that would get me back into the game... unfortunately this does not look like the DLC that will do that for me
Yeah I think $15 is perfectly reasonable considering this seems to add loads of gameplay. I'm not a big fan of what Take-Two has done in the past, but as long as they're keeping things reasonable and respecting the community by not banning mods or making lootboxes, this kind of stuff is fine in my book.
chuckbrillow Same here. I love this game, but once I had basically done it all, I lost my steam. I would really love a DLC that got me to spend another 1000 hours playing the thing. I can't agree more with the dollar-to-hours ratio comment by kahlzun.
I never liked having to pay again for a DLC on a game I've already payed for, but for a game I paid less than 20€, and played for 1675hrs... Okay, they deserve my money. Crap.
I really like how the mission builder is. The mission you made is how I think the original game missions should be like. Thanks for sharing with us Scott!
Hey Scott...my goat likes your videos. He pokes his head through the window when he hears your voice. His name is Goaty...tell Goaty hi....oh crap he's eating my mini-blinds...gotta go.
While I was a avid KSP Mod Forum user when it was still living, it would be a nice time to finally bring in Steam Workshop Support for missions, premade ships, and mods in general. But I guess CKAN will always be the goto nowadays. EDIT: Aw, the SPS isn't a Monoprop engine like the KW Rocketry one, boo! I loved to shrink that down and use it on shuttles. EDIT 2: As a Aug 2013 purchaser, I am a sad panda :(
"The console version is going to come later" That was an understatement, I'm just extremely happy it's coming out tomorrow, this DLC has so many things I've wanted in ksp :)
12:30 the feature on that part will make the deployment of triple/quadruple geostationary kerbnetwork satellites so so so much easier to construct and deploy! p.s. that 'new' launch site was already in the game as easter egg & if you used kis/kas mod combo you could have already been launching from it!
The expansion is going to be 14.99$. They technicaly can't make sure modders do that, but I'm absolutely no mod is ever gonna match this level. And it's gonna (100% sure) lack the ability to share your missions.
Forgive me, but I have to make this remark: KSP tells me that in the mountains west of the KSC, close to the monolith, there is a location called "Manley's greatness". Scott, you truly made it!
The goal of KSP development should be to make as many mods as possible obsolete. Now they just need to add the option for a 10x scale (or real scale) "hard mode" or even adapt the Galileo Planet Pack and Cero System into the stock game.
For the record, FW-190 pilots would commonly use their rudders and side-slip to slow down for landings. Learned that from an interview with a WWII veteran from Eagle Dynamics.
I like the concept of the new engines, so I'd pay $15 for it. Plus having those engine blocks is going to help my PC save some memory space when i build those larger crafts. And also, the 1.3.x parts are pretty bland, and being able to change up the skins of your tanks is REALLY going to help make the game more playable. Can't wait for official release!
it will be interesting to see what is going to happen with already existing mods that are similar to what they are releasing now. TBH I'm quite scared. I would believe that squad would leave it be, but since paradox are taking over, i have no idea about their policy. Modders are already going through hell with every update even though their creations make KSP as entertaining as it is. I can see fall of KSP if they decide to ditch modders and make us pay 4.99 for every"small side engine that u could use". I am very scared...
One of the first missions I make will be the Monofuel Spaceplane Initiative. General rules: you can't take more than one type of fuel (ore and electricity don't count) and all your crafts must have atmospheric wings. First stage: get 5 tons of cargo to the low Kerbin orbit in one go Second stage: assemble an orbital station using planes from first stage Third stage: assemble an interplanetary carrier using planes from first stage. Constraint: that carrier has to carry at least two spaceplanes and have no more than three times their fuel capacity Final stage: using that interplanetary carrier, visit every celestial body in the system without supplies from Kerbin or its orbital structures
Got the itch to play KSP again after almost two years old. Logged in and seen the expansion in my account (bought it early enough to get all expansions free) I'm excited to play. I would love to make my own missions!
People are mad about having to buy a DLC for "mod parts" but I think it's awesome that we have more properly balanced and developer-kept parts! I think it's awesome!
I'm quite sure the original agreement with the game was that on being an early access adopter you would get all the future game content for free. This is why the first time around the devs mentioned DLC there was a huge community backlash. I hope they honour that agreement for early adopters, but I very much doubt they will. (not that I want this anyway, don't need the mission builder, loads of good mods for different size parts and the new jet sounds are just terrible.)
But that implies that if you bought it in early access, that means you should get this for free. I bought it in early access, but apparently i'm "ineligible"
Neat, just seen it on the announcement pages. I'll still hold my breath till the 13th mind. A shame that the new sounds are part of 1.4 though, I'd rather not have had the new jet sounds at all.
+Sergeant Methcake That was the agreement if you bought it before the end of April 2013. That's when they changed it, long before it left early access.
I've been looking at how long KSP has been running, and have been impressed with how long they've kept expanding the game through updates. Most companies would have long ago put most of those updates and expansions into a sequel. The only other games that I've put anywhere near as many hours into are Skyrim and Alpha Centauri. For the amount that Squad's kept putting into KSP with no strings attached, I'm more than happy to support a DLC.
Would be cool to see the mission builder be integretated in the career mode and you can just browse and rate user made missions from the workshop and get money and rep this way
People have already played KSP multiplayer; it was hard to coordinate and buggy. Don't see why yet another game needs to be ruined by multiplayer. This isn't EVE Online.
Hi Scott. A totaly different question, but i don't know where else to aske it. To overcome problems with loss of muscle strength on longer spaceflights, has it ever been considered to wrap the spaceship with electrical wire, and make it into a giant electromagnet. If the passenger were wearing suits with uniformly distributed magnetic materials, it would simulate gravitation. Further it could protect passengers against particle radiation, if the orientation with respect to the sun was right... and work as a heating system. I don't know if the energy consumption would be to big, but i thought you might now something about it. Super conducting magnets could be a option??
I was thinking that the 3-person Voskhod capsule should be removed (it is excessive, since there are already 2 pods of similar shape) and a Soyuz 1.875m capsule should be added instead. The Atlas-like 1st stage engine would also profit from a "fully covered" option, similar to later Titan rockets with SRBs. And I think those engine plates should be in Stock KSP.
Unfortunately, the missions that were created in the Mission Builder can not be played in Career mode. You have to accept that. But what about the starting points? Is it possible to have other starting points away from the KSC in career mode? Or will that only work in the scenarios created by the MIssion Builder?
*NOTE FOR ALL:* Make sure you download *the actual files* for any mods you want to use. Take2 has a history of shutting mods they don’t like down so you may not be able to obtain them again.
Downloaded the kerbal chronicles on the ksp website and there was a article on a new extraterrestrial planet in a 8 planet system.... I wonder what ksp's future looks like? A new system perhaps
It will be awesome when Kerbal Enhanced Edition can do everything that KSP on the console can do. wow, can't wait for physics time warp and an SAS radial menu.
Scott! You beautiful, beautiful Scotsman. I'm studying just outside Edinburgh and have spent time in Glasgow as well as many other (Balmaha, Oban etc) places in Scotland. Any suggestions for places to go in the upcoming months? It feels like home here and I'm excited to see more of Scotland
It'll be cool if they could have an easy way of browsing other people's missions. Maybe even have a list you can browse from the main menu that shows things like "top 10 missions this week". Things like that. It would make it feel more seamless than if you have to download them off the forums and plug them into a folder manually.
The alternate launch site is very cool; will modders be able to add more launch sites? launch sites on different planets? mods which let players define new launch sites from in-game?
Now, the real question; is this likely to ever hit consoles? It would be a great addition to the console versions, due to the lack of mod support. Besides, ksp didnt sell so bad (obviously, it's not going to sell as well as on PC) on the consoles, which would mean that there is a market for this, generating a little more revenue for Squad and allowing them to make even more expansions. That's my thoughts, at least
Someone make a script for The Martian asap please
Kevin Vandy So your kerbal has to grow potatoes in his/her own poop for the first few months and blow it up?
So you need to drive 2000 km in a rover
If Matt Damon was stranded on Mars my first impulse is to just leave him there.
Matt Kerman starring as Mark Watney. Epic journey through many craters, and other shit. And you didn't saved when you launched the rocket, gg.
yes! .... oh man think of all the cool stuff you might be able to do with kerbal inventory system! :D
>flings Bill the hell out of the system
>Fly safe!
All I want from KSP is workshop support.
TheDubstepAddict unless you are on console
That would be shit for many reasons. Use ckan
Played this game daily for years, then ran out of things to do and stopped for a few months. Then bought myself a few more months with Realism Overhaul. Not at all unhappy about having to pay for the DLC and getting another half-million hours of gameplay.
I was an early adopter so I wont have to but I would gladly pay for a DLC that would get me back into the game... unfortunately this does not look like the DLC that will do that for me
i reckon the money i paid for this game has the best dollar-to-hours ratio of anything i've ever bought.

One does not simply ”run out of things to do” in ksp, have a look at cupcake landers channel, awesome stuff ^^
I never liked having to pay again for a DLC on a game I've already payed for, but for a game I paid less than 20€, and played for 1675hrs...
Okay, they deserve my money. Crap.
I don't think squad is living on food scraps.
agun17 Nothing to do with how well they're off financially, but willingness to pay more money towards something that deserves it
+ShirtAndTieler EA acquired them, didnt they?
well, all the more reason: if KSP doesn't make enough money, EA will kill it
+Loïc Rebts Sorry. Not EA, Take2
I really like how the mission builder is. The mission you made is how I think the original game missions should be like. Thanks for sharing with us Scott!

"Whisky Tango Foxtrot!" (5:12)

While I was a avid KSP Mod Forum user when it was still living, it would be a nice time to finally bring in Steam Workshop Support for missions, premade ships, and mods in general.

Didn't know I got it free because of that April 13, 2013 thing. Loving the new content, so much more stuff to do now with missions!
"The console version is going to come later" That was an understatement, I'm just extremely happy it's coming out tomorrow, this DLC has so many things I've wanted in ksp :)
OMAGOD! These parts are awesome
*Checks Steam Purchases*
June 2013
Dammit, 2 months late.
Saaaaame
i was july 2013
so dammit
It's so beautiful. I've waited so long
Showing this off to my husband, who plays KSP religiously.
We are so happy with everything shown here and looking forward to release!
12:30 the feature on that part will make the deployment of triple/quadruple geostationary kerbnetwork satellites so so so much easier to construct and deploy!
p.s. that 'new' launch site was already in the game as easter egg & if you used kis/kas mod combo you could have already been launching from it!
He who makes the first mission replicating interstellar will be the subject of my worship for years to come.
What will be the price of the new expansion and how can the KSP devs ensure that some one will just make a free mod of the same thing?
It'll be 15 dollars unless you're on the console or bought the game before April 2013 I think.
The expansion is going to be 14.99$. They technicaly can't make sure modders do that, but I'm absolutely no mod is ever gonna match this level. And it's gonna (100% sure) lack the ability to share your missions.
LekoWhite probably wouldnt be too hard to rip the stuff from the dlc and mod it in.
If you like the game, support it. As long as it's not by loot boxes that is!
Thanks for the replies :)
Guess it’s time to start saving!
The high and low pitches to your voice is fascinating ;) neva stop talking bro!
Love the vids , recently found you, have watched dozens
This looks so freaking cool.
Forgive me, but I have to make this remark: KSP tells me that in the mountains west of the KSC, close to the monolith, there is a location called "Manley's greatness". Scott, you truly made it!
Pretty crazy that squad moved from making commercials/advertisements to the end-result that is this. Awesome
*Edit* Got the top gun reference*
of course... i got it may 2013
1st april 2013 for me
I bought it 02/05/2013...2 days late
I got it in december... they should have given to everyone that bought the game before 2014 =(
September 2013 for me, I got it for my birthday
Yep. I got it May 9th, 2013 XD
Mod this and create a mission for Interstellar
I want Scott to play it and be amused by the great satire pouting out everything wrong with interstellar's logic!
I'm going to love playing with those 1.85. That's a perfect middle ground that has been a long time coming.
Cant wait for a soyuz rocket build :DD
СОЮЗ НЕРУШИМЫЙ

Hey and you can create the deathtrap that was vostok!
Slav...
Years after my first ingame rocket launch and after several hundred hours of gameplay, im still so hyped for that expansion !
Creating missions is neat... sharing those missions with friends would be neater.
Great idea for a mission scott. Can't wait for all Apollo missions scripted out.
Ksp making history dlc came out for console today on the 28/3/19
Being able to attach another stage under multiple engines is the best feature ever.
your flight techniques are Masterful Scott! :o
Oh boy! They have integrated many of the quality of life features from Realism Overhaul (interfairings, end plates etc)! This looks super!
The goal of KSP development should be to make as many mods as possible obsolete.
Now they just need to add the option for a 10x scale (or real scale) "hard mode" or even adapt the Galileo Planet Pack and Cero System into the stock game.
And toggleable visual mods
but not with DLC
This looks interesting. I am going to have to get it just because I can hehehe. Thanks for the vid Scott, looking forward to more.
I believe the "LV-T91 Cheetah" engine (@10:45) is meant to be a LR-91 Titan upper stage engine, rather than a lunar module engine.
For the record, FW-190 pilots would commonly use their rudders and side-slip to slow down for landings. Learned that from an interview with a WWII veteran from Eagle Dynamics.
14:50 love that bow shock/ mach cone
All about those engine plates, that and the mission planner is what I am waiting for
This looks pretty good, and like a lot of work has gone into something that isn't too expensive!
Finally. We don't have to fiddle around with clipped struts and nosecone fairings to get multiple engines on a stage.
ohh these are really wanted features, I love the extra node on the engine plates
These particle effects are amazing!
I haven't been playing for several months, but will definitely buy this dlc!
This is by far one of the greatest early access games to come out!
Can't belive its 5 years ago I bought it 😅
Can’t believe your comment was 5 years ago😅

I'm excited to play. I would love to make my own missions!
One thing I've only just noticed, is the storytelling potential of these mission nodes
Awesome! I was waiting for this!
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - WTF, Well done sir! :D
Hype is reaching critical levels!
Please Scott, balance audio levels between intro and video.
13:21 OMFG! Is that "latticework interstage separator" in the decoupler section?
i hope that theres some way to combine the contracts with the mission builder, would be a lot more fun.
People are mad about having to buy a DLC for "mod parts" but I think it's awesome that we have more properly balanced and developer-kept parts! I think it's awesome!
Is it possible for nodes to make forces act on vessels? An Interstellar docking mission would be amazing
We already have the Kraken ;)
Maybe you could make a rcs thruster misfire, although not sure if that's in the expansion either
Scott's pronunciation of porpoise is amazing
8:41 Ohh, make a Suliban helix around Kerbin with those pods. Or try making a Dyson sphere with radiator panels.
This is awesome! Can't wait for mods to be updated.
Is it just me or is the atmosphere less soupy? It seems that the g forces and drag has been tweaked a little.
I'm quite sure the original agreement with the game was that on being an early access adopter you would get all the future game content for free. God damn it! I bought it 26 days too late...
EDIT: Never mind. It's actually any purchase before May 1st 2013. So I'm 4 days early.
oh yay! I get it for free then!

Squad sold the game mate. Take two are the new owners.
Scott sounds like a rocket scientist at the Kennedy space center watching falcon heavy
Just so everyone knows The replaced parts are not removed they can be found via the advanced menu
This really is making history!
I vaguely recall being promised free DLC for supporting the early access release. Is that still the case?
For those who got the game before May 2013, yes
Looks like I make the cut by one month. Good to hear they followed through with that.
I'll be getting this. Also, it would be really cool if Squad added more launch sites in the future. Really like that idea.. gives some variety.
It would also be super illegal, since they sold KSP to take two months ago. = )
Argh, forgot about that, sorry..
Well, whoever, please do it. Looks like a very good expansion anyway, love the new parts and mission planner.
Would be cool to see the mission builder be integretated in the career mode and you can just browse and rate user made missions from the workshop and get money and rep this way
I LOVE those engine plates. Trying to decouple with multiple engines never worked.
It would be fun to have Kerbish sounds play when the dialog pops up. If that's not a feature, I'm sure modders will make it happen.
The video I've been waiting for, thank you so much Scott Manly!
I’m so excited for this DLC.
English with Scott: "Werhener is saying: "go, go, go" and I am going, going, going and now I am gone, gone, gone"
Feels good getting this free =]
The engine plates should be stock.
Would be awesome to have multiplayer missions, you could have cooperative missions or competitive games, sort of like GTA races.
People have already played KSP multiplayer; it was hard to coordinate and buggy. Don't see why yet another game needs to be ruined by multiplayer. This isn't EVE Online.
Hi Scott. A totaly different question, but i don't know where else to aske it.

Ooh, realism overhaul and a mission planner? Fun times. Though the new stock stuff doesn't look very stock in 1.4

+Flinn
there already are mods that add launchpads to different celestial bodies and latitudes.
Oh my god! That upper atmosphere exhaust plume tho
ksp update 1.4 makes it that the cams of the kerbals arent there
Now, the real question; is this likely to ever hit consoles? It would be a great addition to the console versions, due to the lack of mod support. Besides, ksp didnt sell so bad (obviously, it's not going to sell as well as on PC) on the consoles, which would mean that there is a market for this, generating a little more revenue for Squad and allowing them to make even more expansions. That's my thoughts, at least
More hyped than ever now
What is the point engine extensions? Seems like everyone will systematically remove the extensions every time they add an engine.
for single engine builds I suspect. but, yeah, I bet most folks will remove them when they learn they can make things pretty
