- I watched this movie for the first time at the age of 12 and it was on VHS. I didn't understand a lot of the references but appreciated the humour. Since the first time viewing these scenes probably remain my favourites. The entire family's wit really shines.
I am 50 years old and have enjoyed many great comedic films in my life. But I don't think I've ever laughed harder than when Clark props a dead Aunt Edna on a patio chair with an umbrella and claps his hands together and says "Okay, let's go!" like they just dropped of a fruitcake. Classic.
DAN: Okay, and notice how Audrie learns something from this: "Don't die unless somebody is home"...
Thanks for your comment, Dan....
Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Classic😂
"'Honey! I'm not an ordained Minister. I'm doing my best. Ok!"' I honestly never laughed so much in my life when Clark punched Marty Moose. I still laugh at it now 38 years later. ;-)
Clark's attempt at a prayer, is HILARIOUS! When he starts singing that song, and talking about Moab, couldn't stop laughing because He had no idea how to pray! But the funniest part was when he said "Give her a break!" Goodbye Aunt Edna! Sorry you were just dropped off like that, but well they had to do something with your body! Afterall, they wanted to get to Wally World! LOL!!!!!!!
And keep in mind, her son Normie was supposed to be home and knew that they were coming, yet he bailed on them for presumably two days to stretch out having to take in his own mother. I doubt they were on very good terms.
The "Brady Bunch" sounding music while seeing her on the roof did it for me.
Clark's exclaim in disgust at 0:44 sounds like he's doing the Marty Moose laugh. LOL.
What's so darkly funny about the eulogy scene for Aunt Edna is that the prayer chant is genuinely ad-libbed courtesy of Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, and director Harold Ramos
Love the Castle Thunder Sound Effects for the Thunderstorm Scene in Phoenix, Arizona on the Movie. Love the 80s. Love the Movie.
There were plans to have the "corpse" twitch bust as the family left without them noticing, but they were scrapped.
2:38 That music is hilarious. It’s the theme of a doomed vacation lol
This is my favorite scene of all time especially the backyard eulogy it’s so funny
Imagine if Enda was still alive and they found out Norman wasn't home
Idk she have a heart attack
Clark must be very, very strong to carry her over his shoulder like that
don't sleep on gas station sandwiches, not bad when you're hungry.. that's waaay better than sandwiches that a dog peed on 😭😭😭
But they cut a part out. Clark tied her up on the roof of the car. Then she flys off the roof and falls into the canyon.
Did That Happen?
I watched the movie twice and I never saw that happen
At 0:46 did Audrey say a dead person breathed on me? If she's breathing, she ain't dead!
I think there was supposed to be a deleted scene somewhere that showed her twitching when they left, implying that she was just in some sort of temporary coma.
2:25 the music makes it 10x better 😂😂😂
What is hilarious is at 5:36 you can still see her breathing. 🤣🤣🤣
If she's breathing, she ain't dead!
@@nickprice8907she might have actually died on the porch in the rain
Amen let's go.
4:58 He should be chanting "Yitgadal V'Yitkadash Sh'Mei Rabah"
0:44 did it for me lol
love
never realized that the shot at 1:19 inspired the joshua tree album outtake photos
wow i never thought the Aunt would pass away in the car🤦 passed away in her sleep maybe
she said phoenix lol
Well, one of them is going to hell. Spoiler alert. It's Clark.
"Bah-Ru Katah' ... lol ... what language? Or was it made up?
@@vidyagama this was my question at age 11 watching it the first time. It was improvised. I read the script for the first time earlier this year. Parts that went over my young head had me screaming with laughter when I read it.
Imogene Coca’s Dead!

Towards the end of 2024 and things still not going good since 2020 came covid came everywhere as I'm 32 years old high functioning autistic man having a hard time life doing things have no job any friends or a girlfriend to go to, as I understand all circumstances that I'm not the only one in the world having problems like we all do!
