In nada yoga sadguru said the importance of AUM... We just dont say AUM. (I cant explain well in English because the English AUM and real sound is different, hope you understand ).
The A sound should come from our belley part with making our mouth wide open then you can really feel the vibration there if you are doing correctly.
The U sound should come from our throat part. Making our lips in a ring manner, you can intensely feel the vibration there if you are doing correctly.
The M sound comes when we cant without opening our mother.
Its true we dont need to use our tounge.
The real AUM sadguru said starts from our belley comes to throat and ends with M without opening mouth. It needs a little practice, you cannot just perfect it in one try
In my experience... While uttering like this not even a single thought will arise in your mind. You will feel nothing, i mean nothing, you will even forget that you were chanting.
The Nada yoga is also very powerful. Try it
The OM you said is actually a speed combination of AUM. Can be easily chanted by anyone without any practice.

And Please dont take seriously everything sadguru says in UA-cam 😂 He will say something big in a small way so that people can understand it and not go berserk. If you really know sadguru, you will really know his divinity. A true realised soul like bhudda. He has certain powers also but not gonna state here, he only shows these things to his extremely close deciples. Because if you say something that is considered as superstition in public it will create a big hawok.

Sadhguru has explained this in detail in his program inner engineering, and as far as I am praticing it works just as OM chanting. So from my experience AUM chanting is not wrong unless done with a correct method.
With all due respect, I am great fan of your work. I am chanting OM for some time now. From my experience
1. OM is correct not AUM.
2. Method provided by Satguru is also correct. Chant AUM.
3. As you chant AUM, you get hag of OM
4 Keep chanting AUM as Satguru described. You will start feeling vibration as you chant.
5. Most important, be simple.

How sadguru taught is correct too. Because I have learnt in Sanskrit language from high level doctorate Sanskrit professors.. There are so many forms of grammar in Sanskrit language.

कुछ दिनों पहले तीज का व्रत था और में पास के एक शिव मंदिर में पूजा के लिए गई थी और हमारी रीति अनुसार सिर पर अंचल रखा था, एक पुरोहित ने मुझे आकर समझाया की ये सब north India मे चलता होगा यह जरूरत नहीं है। बोला तो उन्होंने अच्छे से ही पर उनके बोलने में उनकी सिर न ढकने की परंपरा का अभिमान दिखा और मुझे सुनकर अच्छा नही लगा क्योंकि में उन्हें कुछ अपनी रीति लिए बोल नही पाई क्योंकि मेरे पास कोई जवाब नही था।

Swami Sarvapriyananda ji, in one of his lecture he described OM. He said that OM is actually composed by 4 letters according to the Upanishads:
1. अ - Waker
2. उ- Dreamer
3. म- Deep sleeper
4. Silence (that OM merges into) - the fourth one/ चतुर्थ /तुरिय

Sadhguru's explination on AUM is deeper than what is available on UA-cam. In his inner engineering cource, he explains it in deeper manner. Though I would agree Om is also right (from my personal experience which I dont feel inclined on sharing publically) but the point is that neither "AUM" nor "OM" are incorrect both the two slightly different sounds which do have different impacts on us. It's not just Sadhguru is saying OM is AUM. I had seena vdo long time ago where a day was saying the same.thing and she was not a Sadhvi or from any cult. She was a social workers and she was using AUM on mentally challenged children with very good results. We need to discuss this issue further more as it's one of the basic sounds and forms the basis of many mantras. A more detailed study and video is very much desirable.
Any pronounciation of any particular mantra works in calming the mind and other things. As per the tantras chanting any word, even your own name also works miraculously. Many researchers have also conducted research on Om, with ओम pronunciation and the results were promising. So both pronunciation works. However Om has a particular purpose. And the purpose is attained faster and more efficiently if chanted properly.
