  • In this video, I will show you what happens if you fire a cannonball backward and you are driving at the same speed forward. Will the cannonball just fall to the ground?

Hey, what would happen if the truck carrying the canon was not going as fast as the cannon balls being fired. And, the cannon balls being fired never lost volicity. And there was no gravity? Would the cannon balls still be evenly space? Or would their space grow as the distance from the original cannon ball grows infinitely???
    Serious question.

the speed of the cannon ball is the cannon's initial speed minus the truck's speed, so if truck speedcannon speed, the cannon balls will actually move forward (from the side view), but slower than the truck. not sure what you mean by "never lost velocity". they don't really lose velocity; velocity is relative. if truck moving one way, and cannon fired the other, it's cannon speed minus truck speed, no way around it except to take the cannon off the truck. gravity doesn't really matter--the ball would float in one spot instead of falling straight down. spacing will be even as long as the truck's speed and the time between shots are both constant. it doesn't matter how many shots, or how much gravity.
maybe it'd help u to think more about side view vs truck view. it's kind of like when you're on a train or in a car, and you look out the window and it seems like the car next to you is going backwards, but it's just because your car or train is going a little bit faster. velocity is relative. compared to the sun, we are moving extremely fast at all times, but because the ground under us is moving at the same speed, we don't notice it
