It's getting less crusty by the episode, you're doing wonders with that heap. I'm not a fan of BMW or VW but really enjoying this series, Mat will be blown away when he gets this back.
WOW This car is a MONEY PIT!! The cost in top quality craftsmanship and fabrication alone frightens me and I'm just watching. You guy's are nothing but bloody brilliant.
As always, it's a joy to watch your fabrication skills, you are very talented! I'd also like to shout out whoever it is that's doing the editing, it feels as if they become ever better at their craft with every video. Amazing work all round!
Hello 👋 good buddy Ryan man you did a excellent job today it was a pure delight to watch you work your magic man I wish I could weld and work with metal like you and Steve..you guys are the world's best body shop and fabrication shop I ever came across..I just don't know exactly how to put it in to words how I love this channel but believe me I do. I've learned so much from your videos I feel like I should be paying you to watch it..I mean it's that good 👍..hope you guys have a wonderful week ahead and take care of yourself.
Hey David! Thank you so much for all your comments. We have read every one of them! Just struggling to get time to respond. We really do appreciate thr effort and time you out into your comments, and we always look forward to reading them. We really do appreciate your very kind words and are so happy we can help you out :) Thank you for your extremely kind comments on the chassis rail too!!!! Take care David and see you in the next episode :).
@@yorkshirecarrestoration thanks soo much that made my day right there. Oh yes sir buddy I am still thinking about that chassis rail..I still believe it belongs in a museum I think your channel is the best in the world I wish 🤞 it was on television broadcast around the world 🌎 for everyone to see.
Just Wow !!! the love and craftsmanship going into sorting out Mat's Turd is amazing !!! He must be watching this thinking how the heck am I going to follow this and make this the car it deserves to be !!!!
I think like others I was dubious when you started this and wondered if it was actually possible... and thought you may well have to call this one a day. NOPE. Unreal craftsmanship. Really truly amazing seeing this come together. Can't wait to see it back on the road.
Shook your hand in Liverpool last night. Makes me think about my dad when I watch you're stuff with a tear in my eye but in a nice way. Keep on keeping on dude. And thanks for bringing back happy memories x
I have told many people the story of me on my mates stag doo and being recognised in Liverpool, it was crazy. I'm glad our content can bring back happy memories! That's what it's all about. Very nice to meet you dude. Many more videos to come :). Keep on keeping on :)
Absolutely love this series. You are one talented guy!! Wouldn’t have come across you if it weren’t for Mat but so glad I did. You will become very popular quickly!! Attention to detail and quality of your work is stunning to watch. Love the funny stuff too 😂
I'm enjoying watching the workmanship which, I think you said, you're doing for nowt! It's maybe not the point but if Mat was hankering after a 635 he could have picked a decent one up from a specialist, running and driving, for around £17k ...
Congratulations on hitting 50k chaps! Its been awesome to get an insight into your world. You boys got skills! G'day from down under, and thanks to Matt Armstrong for sharing your channel with me in the first place
I absolutely love to watch the progress on the beemer and you guys never stop to amaze me with your metalworking skills! I only wonder why you don't chemical dip the carbody to remove the paint, undercoat, dirt and rust, that would save quite some time, effort and mess wouldn't it? Keep the good vids coming guys!
Great job - metal fab skills are out of this world. Plus, by transferring the underbody sealant from the car to your trousers, they will be protected from rust 😄
Loving the work, what paint are u using to seal the inside while welding, Iv just been using weld through primer/anti rust primer depending on application etc then planning to fully chassis wax when done. Just be handy to know what the experts use 👍🏻😎
Well Ryan, each time I watch an episode I think your craftsmanship is beyond excellent. This time, er.... what's better than excellent? Superlative? Jee, you could have been a cardiac surgeon. Maybe you do that on the side! Bravo. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh my Goddess! You are so Yorkshire. The lost tribe of Norway. I love your work. I did production welding in my twenties. I don’t miss getting a blob of liquid MIG metal go down the inside of my boot so fair play to you. Great tradecraft.
You're not a sheet metal worker or panel beater, you're an artist in metal. I'm amazed at your free hand cutting with the mini angle grinder. Have you tried warming up the old underseal and scrapping it off?
I'm loving the BMW resto, but I'd love to know how many man hours are going into this car and what the final rebuild cost will be? You have my admiration for your metalwork skills.
If anybody asks why it costs so much to restore a car just show them this series….so much work in the details totally outstrips the car’s value so becomes a labour of love…or a rich UA-camr 😊
Hello Ryan, did you use 0.6 or 0.8 wire for the welder? I only ask because the thickness of the sill metal seemed more than the usual tin plate found and many other makes of car. Best regards, David.
Repair panels for these are virtually non existent - hence the need for so much bespoke fabrication. If you media blasted this shell prior to all the work not only do you further risk weakening the shell beyond all recognition - but you also run the risk of destroying any forms of reference to make the replacement sections. These e24 shells weren't the most rigid even from new.
It's been so enjoyable watching you and your skills at work, it's definitely starting to look like a good car again. Matt should be well happy.

It is haha, but not for mat, as we are doing this free of charge :) Thanks for the kind feedback :)
Totally awesome seeing you rebuild this car…Not a BMW fan but glued to your videos
Thank you so much for the kind comment

Fascinated by your attention to detail and retaining originality
Best way is to keep the originality :) Thanks!

The art of making a cqr by hand the enjoyment of cresting art. Well done gents.
Proper old fashion fabrication skills. Rare to find nowadays!
Such a satisfying video to watch. Car restoration at its finest. Well done, Matt will be buzzing 👍🏻
Thank you so much! :)
you are showing what can be done, with good hands, good tools and a good attitude.
Mat will be over the moon with this motor!
I 💕 love my E46.... marvellous to see you rescuing another BMW model from certain scrap.😊😊
Absolute nightmare i hope Mat has deep pockets , its nearly as bad as the Z . I'm a bodyman and painter but the work you do is the bizzz .
Deep pockets ? Do you know how much views & likes they get just because it’s mats BMW. Their channel is more relevant now.
Mat will buy him a beer or two at most😆

A master craftsman at work. This channel has become so addictive.
Music and welding combo is very relaxing cheers.

This is a class channel. I don't usually sub to channels just watch and like but this channel i am. Best body work channel on yt.

I could watch your genius skills for hours, the choice of backing music is pleasant as well, great content 👍
The quality of the fabrication is amazing. Compulsive viewing!
The effort you put into grind and weld to rebuild this "once a rustbucket" is remarkable.

Another great video Ryan. Matt's Bimmer is really taking shape. You're gonna need a bigger box!
Fantastic channel. Very interesting details.

The amount of skill you have is incredible
15.09 that's my fave music. I was eagerly waiting for it 😅 Awesome job again as always 👨🏭🚗♥️
Smashing it again its a real pleasure watching someone so skilled at work, i do wonder what to total man hours on this car would be
Thank you so much for the kind comment. And we will do a breakdown at the end

You do some top work there.
I love a restored shell classic rather than one full of filler and blathered on paint.
Great stuff!
You need Ice blast sponsorship to make your life cleaner. Great craftsmanship!
You really are the king, and tamer, of rust.
Thank you very much for this series! Mine e24 is not so bad but has some bad spots, your videos are very informative for hobby restorers.
I am sure that they asked you this question before, but why you did not send it to an acid bath first?
Brilliant channel guys
Thanks for the great channel YCR. =)
Fantastic work 👌
Bloody true artisan is what you are mate!
What a amazing skill you have
Time for a new sharpie I think :) Cracking work, love watching this come together.
You can tell you’re in Yorkshire ‘everything’s done proper’😂🔥👍
Can't wait to see it finished
Amazing work every time 👌🏽!
Good skills, love the tunes also.
How many hours did the front sill/jacking point repair take?
Loving your videos. It's brilliant seeing you patiently sorting out this wreck.
As always top quality workmanship 👍

I thought you would replace the whole sill in one instead of patching it, fascinating to watch 👏👍
Hey 🎉 Congrats for 50k plus viewers! 😄
Fantastic workmanship matey. Keep the work ethic and content coming. 👊🏻
Another fantastic episode, I’m almost starting to believe you might save the car😉👍
Anyone know the music at 14-15minutes? Just love it.
Follow the sun, the ambientalist
@@lestercranmer2631Thank you, I also learned about Shazam.
What an amazing job you guys are doing
Nice bit of fab work, the underseal was the same as on my 1989 Transit camper a real pain, keep up the great videos both of you.
I desperately want to send you chaps a big box of fresh sharpies 😂 another great vid keep up the good work
Fantastic work, labour intensive but impressive how good you get the metal work. Any reason you dont dip the cars to remove old paint and crap first?
very entertaining. it's a crazy amount of work.
I really like the way you guys work and present your videos and when you cut in, yer no chattin 💩
Well done guys, keep up the good work 👏
Loving this channel more n more
Very very nice job!! Do you think a dry ice machine would help you on removing the under panel protective layer?
Excellent Job! Why didn’t you dip the car?
Great work 👏
Awesome video as always 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Nice job
Thank you!!!
Amazing detail and craft secretly wish i could do this
It is looking a lot better already. Very enjoyable to watch. PS Can you share you music playlist?
I love how you masterfully fix this car up but it’s like episode 6 and you still haven’t fixed your pen
No matter what you work on Ryan dammed filler follows you around, beautiful work as ever though
Nice moves!
How long do you realistically think it’s going to take to get this fully restored? With no ability to do any of this is seems like years!
I think you need to weld your sharpies 2gether 👍
Yes now
Hello Ryan, did you use 0.6 or 0.8 wire for the welder? I only ask because the thickness of the sill metal seemed more than the usual tin plate found and many other makes of car. Best regards, David.
Hi David, we use 0.8mm wire. And all replacement panels are made of the same thickness as factory, or thicker
Excellent as usual. One question, why didnt you have the shell media blasted to expose all the rot?
Repair panels for these are virtually non existent - hence the need for so much bespoke fabrication. If you media blasted this shell prior to all the work not only do you further risk weakening the shell beyond all recognition - but you also run the risk of destroying any forms of reference to make the replacement sections. These e24 shells weren't the most rigid even from new.
As a complete novice with welding, can I ask why you weld new panels it with individual spot welds as opposed to running a continuous bead.
It's to control heat. If a continuous bead was laid down the steel would warp :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration thank you, that makes sense. 😁 loving your work
Bro you are a hero! 😁
