It's still a one man project from Poland. It's super impressive imo.
that is not an opinion. that is an objective fact lol this is crazy
@chrispolanco1913 Well, there are a lot of one-man bands, projects, games, etc. Maybe not all of them are not that impressive, but this one sure is.
He has outside team's that work beside him on the project. There have been no less than 18 people working on this game.
From Poland huh? Now it starts making some sense.
@@max_blackenedyou the type that likes to hear yourself talk lol
Having peaceful and relaxing options feels HUGE to me.
I really appreciate that you don't do low effort "let's plays" "first hour with x game" (which are so popular on yt nowadays) and instead deliver us nice scripted previews like this. Detailed, well-thought etc. Thank you
Thanks for having an actually accurate thumbnail that reflects that you’re showing off a pre Early Access preview! Was pretty annoying to see all the click baity thumbnails that proclaimed Manor Lords “Here now!”.
Good point! I find there's very decent transparency/accuracy with Mort's thumbnails+text and vid titles; and also above average.
Which is appreciated.
Yeah Mort is legit.
Hooded Horse quickly became one of my favorite indie publishers. They do not miss, all their released games are great and their upcoming games look fire as hell. Gonna definitely check this one out.
I just wish they realize their regional pricing is not great for South America.😢
@@davincisama against the storm is now 70 zł so about 17 dollars, it seems cheap compared to a lot of other games. Are games cheaper where you live?
Except Old World. That one turned out to be pretty shit overall.
hooded horse doesnt miss in the last few years, the new blood of rts/strategy
Really hope they keep up the quality, been a good time enjoying their offerings
they are publishers right? the dev is a one man team though
@@elliotwatson3964Not one man anymore. A while ago he hired few more people but still team is very small.
@@FrostyMourne92 fair enough
@@elliotwatson3964They are the publishers. But they have a very clear idea what kinds of games they are promoting. And they've made great choices so far.
Been looking forward to this preview! You're one of the most dedicated reviewers ever - it's one thing to watch a two-hour movie and review it, quite another to 100% all of these RPGs!
Zoom functions and walking around is pretty cool.
Been watching this game for several years. I am so ready for it! Thanks for covering it!
1:06 interesting name.
Man, this was my most antecipated game for 2023 and I was disappointed to know it was delayed and is only be releasing into early access. I hope it can become the mastapeace I envisioned.
Thank you for the preview. A follow up in a few months would be appreciated.
Really looking forward to this title. Thanks for covering it. Looking forward to checking out the video.
I half expected the ability to just go into FPS mode and walk around in a fully detailed environment, switching between it and an RTS-like perspective. THAT would be massive. Sort of like the old trailer for C&C Renegade, where they show the original RTS Command & Conquer game and then the screen starts flashing as it goes into first-person perspective. When fans of the first C&C game saw that trailer their jaws must've dropped.
Yeah you can actually do that. Walking around your town as the Lord you are, but it's third person...
You can zoom in on any villager including your lord, at any time. You can watch as they build structures, gather and hunt, or fight.
It's not flawless. But it's often beautiful.
Total conflict resistance
Incredibly impressive regardless of the size of the team - visually this looks like a AAA release, I can't imagine what the art pipeline must look like 😵💫
That art pipeline probably looks something like a game of chutes and ladders 😂. Bless this dev, and may he continue to push through!
Been keeping an eye on this game for a while, thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. This gives me mild Black & White vibes, although with less evil cow in it. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
Not been this hyped for a game in a while
Nice overview of the game at this stage, with some gameplay and good explanations. Good teaser for those awaiting full release.
Raise the fyrd! Maybe!
All in on this bad boy, looks fab!
Might have to check this out. Thanks
Can't fking wait for this game! Hope the dev expands and adds more landscapes, flora & fauna, seasons and rivers / lakes to the game. Would be insane!
Worth a Buy channel said it's one of the best games he's ever played.
WaB is often superficial. While this channel is often pessimistic and almost gives me the feeling they hate their job. Or life in general.
For those who liked the old Caesar series, from Sierra, but wanted it Medeival, here you go.
I have to admit, it appeals. And seeing Hooded Horse behind it gives me hope. They've been patient and good partners on all their games so far.
This is new to me, but gave the impression of Medieval Dynasty converted into a strategy game. One concern that I have, which is thankfully easy to address, is the size of the UI.
Definitely going to keep an eye on this one, if it ever gets finished it will be rad
This game feels very much like a different graphics Farthest Frontier, which is also in Early Access (and has been for a while). Will be interesting to see how they differ in the smaller details. Thank you for mentioning this one!
Oh hey, this looks neat!
When I wishlisted this game months ago it already looked good, since then they've added plenty of content, including military. It pains me that I still have to wait 2 weeks for a release.
So excited for this game
This is what the stronghold série should have become
true
The way population and families actually counts as your army supply where you have to be judicious of lost troops reminds me of the old Rome Total War. It's disappointing they abandoned this in future entries.
Pretty excited to give this a go. Thankfully it's launching on gamepass right away.
Everytime Morti says FAMILY, Dom sheds a tear
I like this. Thank you
this game has been on my wishlist so long sevral times ive wondered if it wasnt comming. cant wait to check it out
I really enjoyed Banished and having seen Manor Lords streamed yesterday I think I'd find similar enjoyment in this game. Very impressive, looks to be in a good state but certainly had several "tooltip/system yet to be added" parts that are yet to come. Seems well worth keeping an eye on!
Feels like its following the style of frostpunk but medieval. Interesting. Ive been waiting for this one a while!
More like the old Caesar series, but Medeival.
Looks amazing
Wow, it's like what I wanted Age of Kings to be back in the 2000s.
This reminds me a lot of The Guild.
❤
I hope there will be a working diplomacy and alliance forging system implemented.
can''t wait :3 anda ge of mythology retold
Hey Mort! I just picked up a game last night on Steam, that I think you would really enjoy! It's called Ereban: Shadow Legacy, and it's a 100% stealth focused 3d platformer. It does some pretty neat and original things with its stealth mechanics too. Its a much more fast-paced stealth game, if that makes sense. As soon as I got to the second area, I said to myself, "You need to tell Mort about this!" :D
And I just looked at your last few videos and see, you already covered it! LOL
neat, kinda reminds me of a Banished but more robust
its awesome
People don't get this is a spiritual successor of the settler series
Just to be clear: Is there a mode where I don't have to worry about any form of combat, if all I want to do is build my own personal utopian village?
Thats the "Rise of Prosperity" scenario
Yes
@@jovasmav Thanks. :)
@@raskolnikov6443 Thank you. :)
@@jovasmav You can also add enemies to "Rise of Prosperity". You basically have complete control over the difficulty
Gronk!
EARLY UPLOAD
I'm wondering if it has the complexity of something like the newest Anno. Because anything below that usually bores me rather quickly
For all city builder game the most powerful unit are the peasant, they are master of all profession.
Just watched the spiffing brit cheat the game with chicken eggs and it looks amazing!
All hail the UA-cam algorithm
once you got into soil types, I knew that this game wasn’t for me. I wish the devs these best though.
How is the performance?
so will the game come out in EA on 28th April or as a full release? If the former then I guess another 2 years of wait are in store..
This is the kind of games that make me regret not being a PC gamer😮
I have a serious question: what brings you to Mort's channel given that he's 100% PC [including steam deck eval]?
I find I have to set console-only (or console-dominant) channels to "not interested" a few times or "don't recommend channel" for the worst cases (usually there's bad thumbnail clickbaity practices there too). Else the algo pollutes my suggestions--which I do like to use--with just too much noise, given my viewing and 'liking' habits.
@@AyarARJ Cuz i love rpgs
I think I subs to him when Pathfinders WOTR released🤔
He’s got a couple of games that have released on consoles too
@@tatienouorest3358 Awesome, for rpgs and adjacent this is a great channel. And yep, bound to be a bunch of cross release on console so good relevant content for big portion of games.
This will be on Game Pass PC day 1.
Ik this is a wild idea and maybe even something u could do in a youtube short but if u have a steam deck can u give it a rating of what it looks like and plays like on there?
v interesting
Dude this looks so so good.
May I ask how was the game’s performance?
A few crashes but otherwise good
Don't get me wrong, it game looks like a good city builder/RTS especially considering the small Dev team involved but the hype around this is ridiculous.
I hope this becomes a spiritual successor and indeed improvement on The Guild.
The Guild 2 and 3 were just never as good as the first game and I really want a game like that first release.
Why didn't you show the third person viewpoint that makes this game so extraordinary?
I love how I commeneted on your video about this game, and then less than 24 hours and you have a video on it lol
Lol yeah I had access last week, was just under embargo
@@MortismalGaming Loving the videos bro
Imagine if they made a Chinese empire version of this game and you have to survive in a city that’s under constant siege from Mongols
GOTY
Excited to see someone step in and fill out the gaping void where Paradox used to be
There’s people saying this is the best city builder they’ve ever seen and, while normally I cringe when gamers do that because 99% of the time it’s BS, this one actually looks S tier already.
Yeah this ain't my kinda game. Good video though bro
There are a looooot of people out there still deluding themselves into thinking that this will be the next iteration of Total War... I don't know where they got that impression off of a game that was always advertised as a city builder with some minor RTS components but they are in for a rude awakening. Let's just hope it doesn't impact the reviews of the game all that much.
Comment
Be nice if you said if you liked the game or not?
You must be new here
He's just providing information, not an opinion.
@@christufts6046 I've been watching for a bit over a year. I understand this isn't a full review, but it would be nice to get a 'overall I enjoyed my time' or 'I thought it wasn't as fun as I was hoping'
I don't need a 'in the city builder you build cities, in the combat you fight things'
Perhaps 8:04 or so is what you're after?
Dunno, I'm not terribly interested in like/no-like for incomplete games. Just need overview of mechanics, UI, some idea of how gameplay is shaping up.
