Hi Karen, thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations! I have this happen to me more often than I would like thats for sure. I wondered if the gold leaf didn’t work because it was on top of resin? Ive used it but never on top of resin, so thats where my brain took me. The black outline was an amazing addition and added so much depth to the painting. Well done on your persistence, and thinking outside the box on how to make your plan work! Xx Kelly

Holy shit, I can't believe all that you went though to do this!!! I was floored that you soaked the canvas and got the gold size off. That stuff is sticky. I couldn't believe that worked. I screwed up with some on furniture and have not gone back to that project because it's such a pain. And, I agree, leaf is a bear to work with and those edges seem to take FOREVER to brush off and clean up. AND, it shows every teeny little flaw. I use it in decoupage and hate the brushing part. Then, you did that frisket (?) paper thing and I thought, "OMG, she's gonna go around all that with an Exatco knife" and you did, haha! I was about ready to do that bowing down with arms outstretched "I'm not worthy" thing because I was so impressed with your determination and patience. Just wow. Happily, you ended up with a beautiful piece and every step was a risk because things may have gone south along the way. Congratulations!!! Well done, Karen. Oh, and, in the last few seconds your video, that piece over your right shoulder, with the negative space, looks like where Panama joins south America. You should call it "Darien Gap"!

This is gorgeous! What a super idea for paintings that you're not happy with the whole piece. I really, really love it!!! You did a great job! I've never been been a fan of how gold leaf looks, you're right it looks like tinfoil to me. Unless it's a large area like some of Bear's pieces, it just looks too messy for me. Now I want to go make a terrible painting with a horrible composition! 😂 If you saw my work, that be about 75% of everything I've done!🤪
