A lot of work but this is stunning , yes you have showed us the frisket paper trick, was quite some time ago though! Great job and gorgeous, thank you for sharing
Thank you Karen so much for posting this. Wow, it was a real labour of love eh? It made me feel better that I'm not the only one that has these long drawn out battles to pimp a painting. Love ya from down unda! (Australia that is, nothing wierd 😂)
OMG what a ton of work.. you had me laughing out loud with your frustration towards the inventor of gold leaf.. lol I’m still smiling. The end result is awesome and I agree that the gold leaf was competing with the star of the show, your beautiful artwork. I love It! 💕❤👏 More please.!
I love the original painting and I enjoyed the rant. You are sooo funny. The guild paint had a better effect than the gold leaf. Karen, you truly are a delight. Hugs from, Gina Mac of Queensland, Australia. 😊❤️🙏🇦🇺🎨
Hi Karen, thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations! I have this happen to me more often than I would like thats for sure. I wondered if the gold leaf didn’t work because it was on top of resin? Ive used it but never on top of resin, so thats where my brain took me. The black outline was an amazing addition and added so much depth to the painting. Well done on your persistence, and thinking outside the box on how to make your plan work! Xx Kelly
Wow, you are not a quitter that's for sure! I would have given up at the gold leaf and maybe thrown it across the room where it would stay forever where it landed. I'm glad you didn't as it looks brilliant! 🎉🎆🎇💛🧡❤️🖤💐
I loved it as is..... and was like "noooooo, don't mess with it!!" BUT I'm so happy you followed YOUR vision for this beautiful beautiful creation. Great job Karen
Oh my gosh Karen. This was like watching Mystery Theater! I couldn't stop watching (though I did fast forward a few times), I just HAD to see the end! Like all good movies, I'm very happy with the ending. I love that. I quit saying it's one of my favorites, that seems to apply to all your work. Sorry to say, I cancelled my order for gold leaf lol. I ordered as soon as you started so I wouldn't forget, guess I jumped the gun. NO glitter allowed, now NO gold leaf allowed in my house!! 🥰❤💣💥
It’s Stunning!!! 🤩 And man, you earned your Fabulous results!! I missed the decision to gold leaf. I thought the paint was go gorgeous but we all learned tips & tricks & to keep twizlers near 🤣! Great tutorial! 😃👍
Hi Karen! This is new and different and interesting. I think it will be nice to blurr a little the black lines ,in order to create a shadow on the edges. It will look more natural , I guess.
@@WaterfallAcrylics I'm teaching myself to draw and just learning about shading. I didn't think of that, but sounds like a good idea. But I think it takes some talent to shade right, so mine probably won't have any for a while.
Holy shit, I can't believe all that you went though to do this!!! I was floored that you soaked the canvas and got the gold size off. That stuff is sticky. I couldn't believe that worked. I screwed up with some on furniture and have not gone back to that project because it's such a pain. And, I agree, leaf is a bear to work with and those edges seem to take FOREVER to brush off and clean up. AND, it shows every teeny little flaw. I use it in decoupage and hate the brushing part. Then, you did that frisket (?) paper thing and I thought, "OMG, she's gonna go around all that with an Exatco knife" and you did, haha! I was about ready to do that bowing down with arms outstretched "I'm not worthy" thing because I was so impressed with your determination and patience. Just wow. Happily, you ended up with a beautiful piece and every step was a risk because things may have gone south along the way. Congratulations!!! Well done, Karen. Oh, and, in the last few seconds your video, that piece over your right shoulder, with the negative space, looks like where Panama joins south America. You should call it "Darien Gap"!
Lol Karen! Been there done that with the gold leaf on a much smaller scale…thank God!😂. I love both versions of your bloom. The outcome of your bouquet is gorgeous and the floater frame set it off. Thank you for sharing how you did this and all your frustrations😅. Cool hacks!
This is gorgeous! What a super idea for paintings that you're not happy with the whole piece. I really, really love it!!! You did a great job! I've never been been a fan of how gold leaf looks, you're right it looks like tinfoil to me. Unless it's a large area like some of Bear's pieces, it just looks too messy for me. Now I want to go make a terrible painting with a horrible composition! 😂 If you saw my work, that be about 75% of everything I've done!🤪
That was intense, not hold your breath intense but brain involving sheer will power as if you could even interact with mine, brain that is. Conflict resolution approach of yours especially handling the layers of each step, with such a do or die focus. That coolness of this piece you saw in your head as I watched really shows why your the teacher and such a successful Artist Ms. karen. This is jyst so dang cool.
I am at 2 minutes and ten seconds of the video and yelling at the screen « Nooooooo Karen don’t tell me you are gonna touch this beauty piece??! »… OK, let’s go back to your video but I am freaking out right now…
@@WaterfallAcrylics finally what a wonderful job you did…. 😍 Never ever I would have taken a chance and have the guts to touch this but you are a great artist with a lot of experience so I guess you knew very well where you were going to. Bravo Karen!
Karen just a tip… I’m no pro and that’s how I learned the hard way. Get a whizz cabinet and door foam roller. Before your paint drys roll over it. All of your brush strokes will be gone!
@@WaterfallAcrylics tbh I was so mad when you started outlining with the gold pen. I was in love with the original but when you were done!!!!!! Holy crap on a cracker!!!! It’s beyond gorgeous!

Why worry about the bumps and divots, because nothing in world is actually perfect. So I believe in the more organic look than the fake photoshop look. Remember there is beauty in all of nature with its lumps and bumps.
OMG Karen... you put so much time into this painting!! It's absolutely gorgeous ❤

Today's project for me is to add leafing to one of my paintings. Great timing!
Wow Karen .. that is really outside of the box .. I love this 🎉
The gold, though a complete pain, definitely makes the piece!!!! Looks like antique tapestry💗
Ohhh, Wowzer, I love this painting it's absolutely gorgeous! You're so creative, Karen! Miss Creative Pants ❣️❤❤
What a long way from the little bedroom in New York with the sirens in the background!,

I wonder if you did a sponge affect like it was a bouquet against a wall in the gold or even a suede affect, the possibilities are endless.

This is brilliant Karen! Thank you so much for sharing your process.❤ How will you ever get enough $ for this one?😊 Love what you did here.❤
Hi Karen I have a question do you know where I can get 2 30x30 substrates. I have a commission and don’t know where to get any that big
wood or canvas?
Would your crackle have worked on the original gold paint layer?
Yes

just a thought but silver might have been a good choice if you weren't married to the gold. may have given it an almost transparent appeal to it.
Make one with your silver! Well all make a comparison. 😎🦋
Karen you refuse to lose to gold leaf or anything. Lol through your persistence, you got a stunning painting. GREAT hack on friskit paper

Use alcohol on cotton ball over film and it should release easier
Beeeeautiful!
It was a bad batch. Took it back and the new film lifted easy peasy!
Shoot out to Lydia Broderick??
I love Lydia but I wasn’t inspired by her for this one.
Laughing so hard. Yes gold leaf is so hard to use.
You have amazing patience and it is an amazing piece. 🧡❤️🩵
