  • Katharina Grosse is a German artist who is mainly known for her large-scale, site-specific works, in which she sprays color directly onto architecture, interiors or landscapes. Katharina Grosse used this technique for the first time in an exhibition at the Kunsthalle Bern, in 1998. The Kunstmuseum Bern in Switzerland is now presenting a show that has its focus on Katharina Grosse’s studio paintings. Katharina Grosse: Studio Paintings, 1988-2022 features 42 canvases, from her earliest works in the late 1980s to her most recent works.
Katharina Grosse: Studio Paintings, 1988-2022, at Kunstmuseum Bern in Switzerland is curated by Dr. Kathleen Bühler (Chief Curator). The exhibition runs until June 25, 2023. This video provides you with an exhibition walk-through and an introduction by Kathleen Bühler.

Excellent ! I really lean into ambiguity - color field objects. Thank you. Life is a color field !!

The painting you chose to use has your cover page is my favorite in the show. It just feels a little slower than the rest. Her paintings do have a fast feel.

Yes, I agree. I thought a lot about which work to chose for the cover page and then just chose the one that spoke to me most. With its color it's also very powerful.

I'm curious about the concept of post medial painting. Can you recommend any reading material on this subject?
