This was a super informative video! I especially appreciate the care you took in going into more detail on the origins of the names. I'm Cree myself and have Inuk family members so the acknowledgement was super cool to see! :)
I must say I'm kinda proud, as a person from the US, to say I already knew all the provinces and territories and probably 75% of the cities. :-) However, I did love learning more about the origins of their names, and really enjoyed the mini-Canadian history lesson. I'd love to know more about Canada but there are so many things to learn about in the world, and a human life is such a short time to do it, that little chunks like this help a lot. Thanks!
Hello dear professor What you present is really interesting and crucial,i do appreciate your job,i wish you peace and happiness under the sky of prosperity, all the best. Take care and have a good time. Your Student from Algeria
It's kinda like saying "salsa sauce"-except that while in Cree they're "misâskwatômina," in English with the modified "saskatoon" version we do often add "berries"… and, amusingly, often capitalize, because we think they're named after the city, not vice-versa!
I live in Saskatoon and we call the berries ( which grow on bushes) Saskatoons not Saskatoon Berries, however we sometimes refer to the city as Saskabush 🤷♀️ go figure 😬

I’ll take Columbus for British Columbia anytime. So let’s talk about it more.
People in Ontario just call Toronto T. O. Only outsiders will attempt it in full.
Out here in Cowtown, we call it Hogtown.
So if the berries are named Saskatoons, is saying "Saskatoon berries" analogous to saying "ATM machine"?
