I remember eating Rhubarb when I was younger.loved it.I would picked Clean and eat. My grandma and mother would get so mad. But I loved it that way. Thanks for the memories Tessie. Happy
With sugar here. I loved it
Same here..❤ right out of the garden!! I have seeds to plant some here but not sure it will grow here as I am now in Florida. I now go out to the local farm and buy the strawberry rhubarb jam. So good!! ❤
@@chipper3132 I know when it's hot here in Kansas, the plants don't like it..a friend had theirs in wooden box. They seem to like it. You might be able to in a shaded afternoon spot..if you wanted to try?

Tessie, apples have natural pectin. Adding a peeled apple will help it thicken nicely.

Hi, Tessie! The Farm Journal cookbooks are fantastic; I've collected a few of them (including the one you used in this video!). I don't know much about rhubarb, so I really appreciated all you shared, including the proper way to harvest it. Hearing about your family, traditions, and memories was wonderful. Thank you for sharing them with us! Have a blessed night. 😊
❤ Oh Tessie.. I just Love Rhubarb. And the strawberry Rhubarb jam. My dad grew it in our garden and we would just pick it and eat it. Oh I miss it!! ❤ I have the seeds but not sure it will grow now that Im in Florida. Much Love Tessie.. I hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day. 😊
Rhubarb pie is so good. I look forward to rhubarb every year. It’s always the first thing to come up each Spring. Have a great evening everyone!
So neat learning about rhubarb! What a beautiful plant! I have only had it once and it was with strawberry in a pie. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Tessie. God bless you and all our friends here.😊❤

My Grandmother was also a Martin and I have many Rhubarb plants and I use the Mennonite Community Cookbook for my Rhubarb Crunch. So far this year I have made it 4 times.
Love love love rhubarb pie 🥧 😋 My MeMaw made such a delicious rhubarb pie... no strawberry.
I remember my grandma eating rhubarb but I don't remember trying it. Haven't seen it since. It looked like red celery to me! She would make strawberry rhubarb pie. Thanks for the video it brought back memories!(❤😊
Love all the birds chirping!!
I liked hearing about your family. Can you do anything else with rubarb? Your garden looks so beautiful!✨
I make a variety of desserts, muffins, and cookies with rhubarb. I’ve made drinks with it too.
@@annequiring5652 Wow! Muffins?! Cookies?! Drinks?! Thank you!
Not on time again (car for oil change🤷🏻♀️😂) but soooo happy to be here❤❤❤
I make your onion bread and it's delicious
I have not had rhubarb and strawberry jam in over 60 years! LOL. Mom used to make pies out of it too. I don't think it grows well in Florida, but I may be wrong.
I planted rhubarb last year on the new place we moved too. This year it immediately put out seed stalks. I’ve never had it do that the first year. I love rhubarb. Yours looks great.
I love story of the two spinsters that never married clever
Oh my Tessie, your garden looks so beautiful! We recently moved and were delighted to find rhubarb growing behind the shed. I make a blueberry-raspberry-rhubarb jelly every year that my family loves. I also introduced my 4 granddaughters to the delectable treat of rhubarb dipped in sugar!
Your Family Taught You So Many Important Things Tessie,
What A Blessing!

Last October we ordered enough rhubarb plants and asparagus from Renee's Garden to share with family and friends. Love rhubarb.
I so enjoyed this video. My rubbarb keeps flowering 😕. We live in Iowa near the Amish and frequent their businesses often. We have gotten alot of rain this last month and we have seen several Amish in the fields with their 5 horse and 4 horse teams plowing up the ground (mud) haven't seen the big heavy expensive tractors out though. It warms my heart when we go to the Amish countryside, love the old fashioned ways❤. Have a blessed day
We are similar. My mom liked gardening, and I was close to my dad as well. outside with him all the time. My sisters and brother? No. They are not preppers, gardeners, wanting to live like I do. I always wanted to live in country. It was in my blood. My Uncle did, had cows. pigs. etc. Love you. You are teaching me a lot. Luv Deb.
I planted my first rhubarb this year. Thank you for the recipe and tips on harvesting rhubarb. I love strawberry rhubarb pie! ❤❤❤
Good Morning Tessie, Sisters, Brothers, and Friends, Wish you all a wonderful blessed Tuesday filled with Gods Joy and Happiness :-) Remember to pray for one another and for all around the world :-) God Bless You ! Love you all :-) Keep Smiling be safe :-)

Good evening Georgia Bell :-)
I made a strawberry rhubarb pie years ago for my Dad. He really enjoyed it.
We never used pectin or a thermometer. We cooked it until it "sheeted" off the spoon when held sideways. My mother loved rhubarb.
Happy Monday Tessie ❤
Once again Tessie. You have made my day a whole lot better.
You are somewhat my family in a way. I live in Australia but I can understand you a lot more than I understand my own family.
I love gardening and living frugal in all the ways I can
Thank you for your videos and the love you put into each and every one of them ❤
Rhubarb crisp is the best😊
I have rhubarb too; one plant from my MIL and a 'Victoria' that I purchased. I made a strawberry rhubarb pie last weekend. I have kind of struggled with what to do with it, other than pie. My MIL used to make what she called rhubarb sauce that had red jello in it. That was not something I cared for. By the way, your garden is looking amazing.
Tessie it’s so interesting to hear about your background heritage 😘💕🇬🇧
Plain yellow cake and rhubarb sauce is amazing.
Your garden looks beautiful.

My daughter gave me the red rhubarb, she ordered it but not sure mine was any good. When i was little, i tried it the first at my grandpas farm with sugar!. They had to stop me from eating to much.
I always love to see what you’re up to. I also am drawn to the old ways of living and you always inspire me. Have a cozy evening. ❤
I cook chunked up rhubarb until soft, add a few drops of maraschino cherry juice, a capful of almond flavoring & let it sit overnight in the fridge. Then I taste & add a bit of sugar in the morning & have it for breakfast fruit. This way it needs less sugar overall & no red food coloring!!
I make rhubarb butter that’s very tasty over ice cream. Thanks for the video.
Happy Monday and good evening to you Tessie❤
Rhubarb and Apple pie is delicious!
Good morning Pretty Tessie ❤ Strawberry rhubarb is my favorite jam! I have planted it although I didn't realize there were more then one kind. I had some before we moved but couldn't take it with me, So I am starting all over again! I have planted Wisteria, Trumpet vine, Blackberries, Elderberries, Raspberries, blueberries, Rhubarb, and Lemon Verbena. In our yard and I keep finding different things already here. We have Forget me nots everywhere! a couple elderberries, a burning bush, lily of the valley, some type of garlic or chive. honeysuckle, and many things I haven't figured out yet!
I wish I could grow rhubarb. Too hot in Florida. My Mom always made sure she had a strawberry rhubarb pie for me when I went back home.
Your garden is coming along nicely! I always enjoy your wisdom. I have learned so much from you Tessie. Thank you ❤
I like hearing about your family.

Thanks Tessie! I inherited a garden and there are 4 rhubarb plants growing there. Ive never hàd rhubarb. I hear its very bitter. My plants are huge! I think one has gone to seed because it has a stalk of white flowers

Tessie, I have that cookbook. I have a lot of the Farm Journal Cookbooks. Love them. Have a great day,

I planted a few rhubarb crowns but something is munching the leaves down 😢

Awesome video
Where is the onion bread recipe?
rainydayfoodstorage.blogspot.com/2012/12/savory-onion-roll-jar-mix.html?m=1
NC here. We have tried to grow it here since we moved here 30 years ago. Termites love the woody root and killed it several attempts. Moved 4 years ago and tried a fancy variety that is supposed to take the heat here. Still no results.
Lemon juice is used for pectin
Rhubarb leaves also make a good garden bug spray. Just add water into a pot used for this exclusively.
Boil leaves in water, cool, put in well labeled spray bottles. Spray onto garden plants.
JUST MAKE SURE SOMEONE DOESN'T ACCIDENTALLY DRINK YOUR BUGSPRAY. (Mt great uncle years ago died. He thought his wife was making some sort of tea. So he tasted it......oops was Rhubarb leaves for bug spray, he didn't survive.
I remember good rhubarb pies.
Your kitchen is darling 💗

One of my fav of your vide9s ..your dried flowers so nice❤❤❤...loved watch you making theae
Thanks so much 😊
I was a little bit creeped out by the AI/computerized voice Welcoming in the beginning of the video 😅
One of the places that I lived in town here had rhubarb by the garage. I went back there a year or so, and it is completely gone. They got rid of it. It was so sad because I was actually going to pick some saying that it never got used after I left. What kind of thermometer do you use for this?
Hey tessy. When we moved here 3 yrs ago, there was a huge area of rhubarb. It was by the back step, and my husband hated it and complained about it . Finally i dug it up last spring and moved it to a safer spot. I ended up giving most of it away, but planted myself about 10 clumps. Only 2 came up this spring, 😢 and they bolted about 3 weeks ago. Im in michigan so spring is just settlibg in. Is there something i should do to make sure it doeant bolt so early? Can i still harvest it? Tia
