My youngest is now 19yrs old. Things have changed a lot in the past 2 decades. When mine were this young they recommended you start baby with baby cereal, and then slowly introduce 1 new food at a time. Seems like everything from feeding to potty training is done much quicker when they're much younger.
I wonder why people start with such strong flavors. Isn't cereal mixed with breast milk or formula better to start with. There's somewhat of a familiar taste while they are getting used to the new texture.
i absolutely agree.. my stupid pediatrician recommended spinach or beets coz they are so nutritious as first foods.. and guess what? that scared my baby to opening his mouth in future.. i was really dumb to take that advice too.:(

Squash is bland and easy to eat.
They don't want babies to get used to the sweet foods and then turn everything else down.
It doesn't have to be sweet though, it can be baby cereal with breast milk or formula. If your baby likes cereal, it's a great transition food
