I'm so glad it was you who found this piece. Your attention to detail and careful restoration techniques brought this little table back to life. Bravo!
Jamie I don’t know how you don’t have 100k subscribers. You are soooo good. No music no bla bla just good hard straight forward restoration flipping furniture. This one is in my top 5 fav of yours. Beautiful 🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🇺🇸😍
Excellent transformation!! I really love how it turned out. I also love that you don't use many power tools to accomplish such beautiful results. It's all YOU and your SKILLS! So glad that I found your channel and have been subscribed since the first one. Can't wait to see what you have next.
Beautiful work! I'm always in awe of people who can disassemble something and still keep the whole item in their minds eye when repairing and refinishing it. Bravo!
Did I understand right that you are 17 in one of your early videos? If this is the case you really are doing well for yourself. At any rate you are doing well for yourself. I do like your knowledge of the pieces you re finish. And you take care to try to keep it as original as possible. Beautifully done!
I started making videos when I was 21, I am 26 now. But thank you! I have learned a lot from doing various projects. I only recently started doing more restoration work, I hope to learn much more over the years! Thanks for watching
I'm disabled and going to start refinishing a few pieces for something to do. I'm limited to using a spare bedroom for my workshop but I have most everything I need except a plunge router. 16:37
I did a couple pieces in a spare room, just be extra careful with the dust and do not use any harmful products! Odies oil is a great product as the fumes aren't toxic and they can get on your hands.
Awesome result Jamie, I love it ❤️ The filling on the broken part could have been a bit controversial, but you secured it by making a new bracket. Awesome 😊👌🤗
@@Restomaniac thanks ismail! I considered chisel and saw, but I don’t have a flush cut saw and I am tired of buying new tools every project 😂 went the easy way since it wasn’t visible lol but thanks for watching!!
Of course my friend, I understand very well. A very stylish table emerged. It was also a great pleasure to watch. You've done more scrubbing than I could do in a year, you do justice to your youth 😁🤗@@FurnitureFlippa
Tip: when you are using a carbide scraper and there are crashing grain patterns you can turn the blade and scrape 45 degrees to the direction of the grain. Just reduce your pressure a little and take your time. Any light scratches will come out with sanding. Also a good card scraper will work well on those areas as well. Nice work on this table. One piece of criticism. Wood epoxy is a great tool in the bag for small screw holes and chipped out substrate but I would recommend you up your game. Get ahold of a flush cut saw, chisels and practice cutting sections like that large missing piece flat and laminating a piece of like wood then shaping it. The resulting repair will be much stronger and last a lot longer. That table looks like teak so using red oak would work if you couldn’t get some scrap teak. For the Odies oil t9 make it less fatigue on your fingers dribble it on with a spoon use a rubber scraper to spread it then with a non abrasive pad use firm circular sanding to work it into the grain. The scraper will spread it evenly and ensure you are not waiting any. The non abrasives will ensure you are not scratching the finished wood.
Thank you! Good tip for scraping, I found that going on the angle was good when removing paint too! And I considered chisel and sawing, but I just thought since its all hidden I chose the easy way out lol also good idea for the odies oil! Thanks for watching and the tips - Jamie
That is one stunning piece of MCM design. YOu captured its purity and elegance. Excellent job! I've never seen a design like that in AU...More so in dining tables.
Looks great. For next time, when you put in New wooden braces for the legs do it to all 4. Details like that will get you a better price and people won't question your choices.
I just started my first full restoration and I was feeling really intimidated. The coffee table I have is not the exact same, but the same company and same type of construction. I'm hopeful mine is teak as well, but I don't know my wood grains that well yet. Mine had been painted white and the paint is down in the grain and there is water damage. This video motivated me. I hope mine comes out as beautiful as yours.
Check out my aqua desk video, it's painted teak like this, and I strip and scrape it. Don't use citristrip, but you can use a better stripper and follow similar steps! When paint is in the grain you can use stripper and wire brushes to get it out, also mineral spirits and a wire brush too. Good luck!
Gostei de ver você trabalhando nesta mesa de centro. Lixou com muito cuidado obedecendo a montagem da peça. Cuidou dos estragos do tempo e do descuido. Oficina limpa e bem cuidada. Parabéns. Vou ver outros vídeos seus, gostei muito do seu trabalho e que não é cansativo.
Fun-tastic ! No doubt has been asked why the rough green pad with oil ? It seem eventually it will grab onto a loose veneer splinter on the edge somewhere and seems to take longer than most other ways like a charcoal sponge on a stick. nice Danish style
Beautiful restoration. I'm not familiar with the wood putty you are using but maybe check out how Ahti at AT Restoration splices wood onto broken pieces. It may end up being a stronger joint.
Well done. Very nice. 1 suggestion - you may want to use a different color font when you add comments to the video. Instead of white consider yellow. I use yellow when I'm watching movies with subtitles and it does make a difference. Thanks for the video.
Clamp down the pieces that I am scraping? I usually do that haha this one I was quickly scraping, then sanding, just to begin the oxalic acid treatment on bare wood. Then I just sanded everything after anyways.
@@FurnitureFlippa No, if you wish to scrape along the grain when you have two pieces at different angles, you can clamp a second piece of wood over the other so your scraper cannot go onto the wrong bit. You can either pop your scraper along the edge of the clamped piece knowing your blade is on the joint line, or butt the blade up against the wood to pull away from it, knowing, again, your blade isn't on the wrong bit. Bit like masking but for big sharp things instead of paint.
Good job, only from now on do not use so much putty, it is better to cut a piece of wood to size, even if that part is not visible, you give more value to your great work👍
Can you tell us how much you spent on each piece and how much you sold them for please? I find this really interesting and I’m sure others would be too .

A little concerned about no mask wiping down oxalic acid after it’s dry. Others on UA-cam have suggested that.
