You could see how nervous ven was the first game. Despite thathe made a huge turn around to take the 2nd game and put a good fight the 3rd game. Easily one of my favorite players

Ven has now taken games off of Leo, Samsora, Void, Pandarian, and Salem, as well as sets off of MVD, Esam, and Elegant. He's not quite a PGR player yet, but he's close. Definitely top 100.

Ven did a fantastic job considering this is arguably Zelda's worst matchup! Honestly, all Zelda needs is a consistent bread-and-butter and she'd be a solid mid tier or higher. Power to him for pushing Zelda to high level!
She would be easy high tier
If her nair was more like palu in terms of power and consistency, easy mid-high tier
All Zelda needs is a frame data buff. If all her moves her 5 frames faster she'd rise up considerably, safer options is always a welcome to any kit. Just giving Zelda any consistent or BnB safe option would be a godsend to her.

@@Surgemaster2012 5 frames on every move is a huge buff that would move almost any character up a tier or two at least. I'm pretty sure that would let Zelda do fair > fair for a shield break.

A lot of people say MKLeo has nerves of steel but I feel like Leo's greatest weakness are the nerves he gets from people rooting against him. Especially when they're loud/right next to him.
Look at Summit, he had an atmosphere where he could focus for once, and he proceeded to 6-0 Samsora.

was really hoping to see Leo Makarakarn the phantom knight back at Ven most of the time it get's reflected so fast and hits so hard it just kills Zelda at 50%
Doesn't work at high level play, any good Zelda would just neutral b and return it at 4x the strength while Joker is still on end lag from Makarakarn. Too risky of a play for a player of MkLeo's caliber to take.

Nah, Ven was fishing for that. During match 1 he threw out a neutral B in case Leo reflected it, but Leo never went for it
Zelda players know the timing so the can just activate love to reflect it at x4 strength killing him at like 20
As good as ven is, this was an insanely hard match-up because joker has everything to gain against Zelda's main damage options.

Man both characters I main going at it, hard to decide who to root for. lol I think Ven did a great job though, given how terrible this MU is for Zelda. On top of that its MKLeo. I like watching both characters.
Another proff that tiers dont mean jack, yeah Joker's extremely good on paper but we keep seeing people take character to levels that seemed impossible, Tea's Pacman, Raito's Duck Hunt, Maister's G&W and many other.
Framedata is important yes, confirms, set-up and true combos as well, but players who don't give a damn about tiers and just try mastering their favorite character will always be around and Ven seems to be one of those.
I bet MkLeo (nor anyone for that matter) isn't used to be so wary of a Zelda player but here we are.
This also means Leo will work on that MU.

Why is there so much hate for zelda in the comments? Ppl complaining that she's a zoner, or just a wifi character. Yes most of her kit plays around phantom, that's because the rest of her moves are pretty "meh". Also yes zelda online is really annoying but this is nothing close to that kind of play
The funny thing is how nobody can make up their mind. They always go around talking about how horrible she is, but don't want her to get buffs because they bitch and moan about how her specials are annoying, but then complain that having specials that work are boring. It's like the character can never win with people. lol I really dislike when fanbases create lose/lose situations, it just makes them look like they can't make up their minds.
Or how Little Mac is "the worst designed character" yet they talk as if Zelda is the worst, but is never labeled as the worst Ultimate character. Makes no sense. lol
For all the talk about her specials being "bad" they are apparently enough for people to constantly complain about them. Especially when far worse characters exist that are annoying to fight against. I also don't see what's wrong with Zelda being a zoner, at least she's classified as a playstyle, whereas before she had no playstyle at all. Just a few select moves and that's it.
That being said I do think Zelda's normals need work. I really would appreciate having more end lag shaved of every single one. I feel having all her moves as fast options would be more beneficial for a slow character like her. Maybe even a weight buff would be nice too. I mean Zelda finally has throws that do something, but could her grab not be so slow please?

As someone new to SSB games and maining Zelda, a few things stand out here...:
- So many recoveries from below ledge to ledge (I think this is a general top-level tactic rather than something specifically Zelda related, as edge guarding is just too good at this level to often go directly to stage).
- I'd never considered UpAir through the stage (i.e. to hit an edge guarding opponent from directly below, prior to recovering to ledge).
- Clearly, I don't use Phantom in neutral enough.
- I would have assumed that top Zelda players are always just hitting the tiny sweet spot on her Fair and Bair, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I guess, even for top players (especially when playing against top players who can punish the sour spot hard), the risk-reward ratio is just not there. That said, I'd imagine top players like Ven would go for her super powerful Fairs and Bairs against weaker players, where their inferior movement makes them easier to sweet spot and a sour spot is less likely to be punished.
- He habitually Dairs when above the opponent. It rarely hits (again, it's a tiny sweet spot), but the threat of it better than doing nothing.

I really think MKLeo purposely lets a lot of matches be closer than they would be, so not to hurt the opponents pride. I've noticed with a lot of the small name players, if he completely dominates first game, he plays very noticably different for the folowing matches. Then if they actually get close to beating him, he kicks it up a gear and goes ahead and finishes them with the same ease as before. He was missing a lot of easy punishes and counter oppurtunities after game 1.

Zelda is not really a low tier, but instead a ridiculous high skill-requirement character, just count how many week lightning kick ven did in this game, it's crazy strong but the accuracy required is crazy as well, even top Zelda main can't do it consistently

Rather than let the game play out as normal. Sure it's not wrong to state opinions or initial impressions, but everyone made tier list about the game's infancy stage, before even having time to develop any sort of meta.
At the same time I was mainly saying that for a joke because the fanbase likes to flip-flop a lot with what they say and do.
Also compared to most of the cast, she isn't the worst character. Unless you are going by previous installments? If so, then yes I agree. And finalized tier list from previous games? Yeah Zelda is worst in all of them. lol But by Ultimate specifically she isn't that bad, she just lacks compared to other characters that are just better. Her main flaws could easily be fixed with frame data tweaks.

The worst part about joker is the counter. Arsenal being so good and him getting it so easily against some characters is just dumb. Some people wanna nerf joker a bunch but that's just stupid. I just think his counter is to good.
