Phyrra was the first person in Jaune's life to have ever believed in him. He spent his entire life believing he is a failure. To finally have people that believe in him genuintly is a first for him. A life time of doubt on who he is vs less then a year of love and support. Change is hard.
I've been thinking... If Hazel represents Hansel from the Grimm tale, then could it be a darker version of the tale, where his sister was killed by the evil witch? In that case, it could mean that Salem actually killed Hazel's sister, which could be a good way to give him the opportunity to turn his back on her.
When I heard him say "My boy Hazel's about go in!", I was like "'YOUR' boy?! Arnold, you traitor!" JK. XD Anyway, I can't help but feel so sorry for Hazel. He looked so content in Volume 4, and when I heard Ozpin say that he's not person to be taken lightly, I was feeling conflicted. How can somebody with a gentle demeanor work for Salem?
