Were you fortunate to play with any of the vintage stuff as a kid? Makes a big difference when you can stir some memories as compared to just being a collector (no disrespect intended).
Caleb Smith All I do is keep them in a cool dark location. Sooner or later they will dry out. Using a Vacuum sealed case is likely the only way to save them. I know a few collectors did this.

I have gotten their hair wet with no problems. Squeeze dry with a towel. Any scrubbing could cause a problem.

I have the newer AT but there is no way I'm going to test that theory!
