    this isnt grouped data group data would be something like 52.5-55.5 with frequency of 9 and so on

    Don't you mean for ungrouped data? :/

    Interestingly enough, the 50th precentile is the same as the median. In the first example, being asked to find the percentile value of 5 is simple because it's the median. So, it must be the 50th percentile.

    what is the purpose of 0.5? and how it comes to be subtracting to its number below that specific value and the 0.5? I'm having a hard time to understand some concepts in statistics.

      Let's say that it was Ann who scored 5 in this example. Ann's percentile rank is the percent of scores which are less than her score. The tricky part is that we need to include Ann's score in the calculation. It wouldn't be right to count her score as less than itself, or to count it as greater than itself. So we split the difference, and count it as half.

    1-10
    11-20
    21_30
    31-40
    41_50
    And then you're task to find the percentile rank of 41. How are you going to solve this?

    • @Theotheranubis
      @Theotheranubis 9 років тому +3

      +Yoong Li "I" stands for the rank of the number. You have seven numbers on the number line, and since he's using 5 in the example, and it's the 4th number on the line, "I" equates to 4. If he was using 11, "I" would then equate to 7.

    • @sirdwight453
      @sirdwight453 8 років тому +1

      +Yoong Li the (i) is the rank/place of the number which is in this video it's number 5. so if you count starting from let to right/least to greatest. starting from 2.

      Lower Class Boundary. I bet he made an ungrouped data video.

    • @madhvirajput2838
      @madhvirajput2838 5 років тому

      @@spacet1m3 but In that example lower class boundary is not 0.5. difference between 2 and 3 is 1 so in that case lcb is 0.5 next term is 3,3 there is no difference between these two so there is no lcb. Next 3 and 5 and difference between 3 and 5 is 2 so in that case class boundary is 1 and so on.
