Transcript continued: example where we see two people we have Karen Lopez and then we have Samuel Davis and remember again this is not a tip we'll get to the best tips later but uh the important thing to know is these names are paraphrased too so when they say Miss Lopez it's not a third person it's just Karen Lopez and later they will say Mr Davis which is this guy where is that guy Samuel Davis so it's again two people some people mistake it for or four people causing more confusion now let's get to the real tip the first tip and the most important one is paraphrasing so you want to read most of this content and then understand what each person is saying in your own words in the actual exam the text or passage will use difficult words it'll also have information scattered so you would if you just rely on this to answer the questions later you'd be really confused because it's very complex complicated wording on purpose so this is a test they want to make it difficult for you now here's what we can do to make it simple and super easy for us and then I'll show you how this will help Us in answering questions let's read it quickly and you can read it slowly if you want you can pause the video and read it but I'll show you the main gist of it so it says there's debate about the impact of remote work on productivity and work life um and there's U it has the balance has gained prominence in recent years Karen uh HR manager so this is how I actually read just quick pieces just to get the gist of sentences you cannot really read every single word you have limited time so now she's advocating for the benefits of remote work she's saying remote work offers unparalleled flexibility allowing employees to better manage their personal and professional lives reduces commute time which can redirect TOS productivity and personal activities enhances overall well-being okay moreover remote work can increase productivity by being comfortable personalized work environment free from usual office distractions now let me say all of this in my own words so if you work remotely you reduce Comm commute time you are more productive and you are not distracted by office stuffff isn't that easy and simple to understand obviously it is similarly when we go down to this paragraph we'll do the same thing we'll make it simple in our own words now you can pause the video and you can try doing that based on what I did earlier if not let me do it for you so now this guy Samuel Davis uh and these things are sometimes important the old business consultant maybe there will be something about a tone thing that they'll ask later and the old uh beliefs might be something you want to pay attention to now he's obviously concerned he says while remote work has its advantages it's also challenging uh the lack of direct supervision can lead to decreased productivity because there's no supervision so that's what he's saying in a sense of isolation that's another key Point collaboration and teamwork will suffer okay and it can hinder Innovation and problem solving so a lot of things he's saying additionally the blurring of boundaries between work and personal life can lead to burnout and decrease job satisfaction so in this case he has actually lots of things it's a little hard to summarize but we'll do our best Samuel the other guy obviously opposes he's saying that you have lack of supervision and you are also isolated this can decrease overall productivity and so this is what I was covering up here and the last thing he said was uh there could also be burnout and less job satisfaction you can also use a little imagination that he probably means you have work at home so your home life is going to be ruined I can relate cuz every time I see my laptop in my living room I hate it you know so that's what it means and why we're thinking like that is because we are trying to understand the concept this also helps when the exact question is not being asked like there are questions where you can't really find answer within the sentences or words you have to interpret it so you want to see the feelings or emotions behind whoever is saying what ever okay now what I did was I simplified it and we can do the same for the following paragraphs but for now let's look at a sample question here uh for example we will pick question one and two are very good question one I'm going to use for something else though question two how would you define Mr Davis's per perspective so this is the second guy overly optimistic no he's actually very negative about work balanced and cautious yes he is cautious and he's also balanced because he said if you guys remember he mentioned let's go back here he mentioned while remote work has its advantages it also presents significant challenges so he's like you know it's cool but there are problems so balance and cautious yes completely against remote work no one of these would work so he is balanced he's not completely against and he's never indifferent I mean he is paying attention to remote work and there we go the answer here balanced and cautious is the correct one and you can again if you read everything here you can also answer this but you would need to understand the overall idea to answer questions quickly like these and many other questions that are based on tone because remember the whole thing is about what is this person believe versus what the other person believes so any question related to what is the argument what are they disagreeing on or what does this person support more can be answered if you simply use tip number one which is paraphrase everything according to your own words makes it super simple tip number two guys is let's see here this tip will help you find the answer without even going in the passage okay let's check question number one what is one of Mrs Lopez's main arguments read the options okay now the answer if you haven't figured it out already is B remote work offers unparallel flexibility now this is a positive thing but this one is negative decreases job satisfaction the first one hinders collaboration is negative and increases commute time is negative so you have three negative options and one positive option obviously three cannot be the answer so by default the answer that stands out is going to be the one cuz that is the uncommon one this works at least one time in part four almost every time not 100% of times but almost every time at least one question is phrased or presented in this way where there are three opposite options and one option that would be saying the other stuff so obviously that answer would win this is really handy when you don't understand the vocabulary when you're rushing in time or when you're confused between choices the one that stands out will always be the answer so remember that you could have one to two questions like these and that's a Bas basically a freeark without really reading the passage when you're done with questions one two 3 four five sometimes six you get the comments and questions so this is the comment by some someone who saw the article or read this website page now this person starts talking about how they view the topic and then you have some questions based on that all these questions 6 to 10 in this case guys depend on the first sentence remember that okay the first sentence will give you the idea and answers correctly to everything else here's what I mean and this is tip number three understand the first sentence in the comment section he says it's interesting to see how Mrs Lopez's highlights Mrs Lopez highlights the benefits of remote work particularly in terms of now this guy likes Miss Lopez he is talking or she is talking about how interesting it is and how this Miss Lopez has highlighted benefits in terms of and then you picked the option the correct option here was Employee flexibility because she talked about that was the first thing she said how flexible jobs can for employees and that was her main idea so now you know this person likes Miss Lopez which means this person is going to answer or say everything in support of her and and wherever he talks about Mr Davis he's going to criticize him okay so that tone if you understand that you will know the direction to take for all questions 6 to 10 which is the second part of your part for all right now you will see on your screen a complete reading playlist check out these videos I have covered three very important tips in this video for you
