They usually do a five part harmony song around one mic at some point in the show. Everyone goes really quiet like watching a play or musical. If the venue is small enough and has good acoustics they do the song without a mic. In a close up live version of this song Scott, Mitch and Kirstin have their eyes closed and they are just perfectly in sync. Sometimes I wonder if those three souls were once one or have been together before.
There were 17,500 people at this show, and probably another thousand in the park outside. It’s a family atmosphere at PTX shows, and you see people who have never met leaning on each other and singing. So beautiful!
I saw them perform last November and was so happy they included this song. It was beautiful. The best way for them to end the show. Everyone in the arena was touched, the spirit of their performance was palpable.
Thank you for your heartfelt reaction to their beautiful rendition of this song. If you haven't reacted to their original song Run To You, I think you will find it equally beautiful.
I've heard them do this twice live in concert and both times you could hear a pin drop in the venue. I've heard a similar reaction from the crowd when they sing Hallelujah; incredibly respectful as they devour every single note from beginning to end. Anyone who hears this performed, no matter what their level of knowledge of music recognizes this as a special kind of magic. Thanks for covering it!
I saw this very performance at the Hollywood Bowl. There was about a gazillion people there and you could hear a pin drop from 30 rows back. People weren't moving in their seats. They weren't whispering to each other. They were just straining their ears to make sure they could hear this song. It. Was. Magical.
I'm glad you picked this live video at the Hollywood Bowl instead of the Portland, Oregon live video. The Portland crowd whooped & hollered through most of the performance.
They did this at the end of the concert I saw recently - it always gets me - so beautiful "Run to You" is equally stunning. There is a video titled Mitch Grassi 2009 - of Mitch and Scott in high school - that leaves me speechless at the talent they showed, so young.
I was at this show and it was mesmerizing. I just sat there in awe. This is a 17,000 capacity outdoor venue and they almost sold it out. This was such a core memory for me and I can't wait to see them live again next month. Thanks for your lovely reaction 🙏🏾✌🏾
I saw PTX do this in Manchester UK in may this year. It was spectacular! The arena fell silent, You could hear a pin drop. Just amazing. Thank you for the reminder of how wonderful it was.
Thank you for your thoughtful reaction. I've heard the official video a few times, but not this live version. Some of their current music is very loud and beat driven, and it's good that they understand that there are those of us out here who sing and enjoy these beautiful harmonic songs. I think the audience is so quiet because they were holding their breaths through this, as I was. I'll be seeing them in just a couple weeks, and I hope they do this song, or another one like it at the concert.
I heard them sing this song live last week in Alpharetta, GA. The only sound heard in an amphitheater was a fussy young baby. This one of the most moving experiences I have ever had.
Seeing and hearing them perform this song live turned my husband into a Pentatonix fan (still working on him joining me as a Pentaholic 😊) It was exquisite! Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece!
Scott learned this when his college a capella group did an arrangement of it, and he taught it to the rest of the group. As he says, they listened to it often when they first started. As a result, most of their albums have a similar homophonic 5-part arrangement, including one of their first original songs, "Run to You" (2013). And they usually perform those songs, as here, without individual mics, gathered around a single light.
I've watched them do this song at least a hundred different times and it still gets me to the core. Thank you Adam for reacting to this, I knew you would love it!
I just saw them perform this in concert last week. EPIC! As you saw there, thousands being quiet so all you could hear was PTX. Thank you for reacting to this.
I saw them do this Live on 12/18/21 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, at The Target Center. At that time, it was their largest audience! I was fortunate to snag VIP tickets and was 2 rows back from the center section that jutted out into the audience. I felt like I could have touched them at times! I have my cell phone recorded video of THIS song on my own (feeble) channel. But I have to admit, even though the vocals start soft, I don’t doubt that even those in the “nosebleed” section, heard this LOUD & CLEAR after the first few bars!!!
It’s so timeless, this performance. I’m sure there are all kinds of musical excellence things that I don’t realize, but it’s so perfect and so beautiful to hear. Any I agree, the silence in the arena is so respectful and appreciative. Love this band, and I loved your reaction, as always. Peace …
I saw them perform this on the Evergreen tour. It was so beautiful and heartfelt. I will be seeing them again tomorrow and am looking forward to everything they do. Look forward to your reactions! Have a great day!! :)
Pentatonix are the best group today. And have been for years when you found them. IMO, they are in the top 3 for me. Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Pentatonix. They are that good and will be heard for hundreds of years.
PTX and Voiceplay both released new songs on the same day pretty recently. 'I Rise' is a new original for PTX, and VP released 'Drunken Sailor' and it is friggan hilarious! Highly recommend checking out
The link below is the original by The Rescues. The Rescues were originally, and are, once again, a three piece. Gabriel Mann on all things keys. Kyler England on ukulele, guitar, and bass, Adrienne on guitar, bass and percussion, and for this period Rob Giles on dums, guitar and bass (he's the one with the beard). All on vocals. Rob left for a band called Circa Zero a duo project with Rob singing and playing everything except guitar, which is Andy Summers (The Police). Rob is also a TV writer now. All three Rescues also have solo careers and Kyler (sometimes as Relyk) has a side career guesting on EDM songs. Gabriel also scores a lot of TV shows, notably Modern Family. ua-cam.com/video/o8y0w91ehIo/v-deo.htmlsi=PvKrXpdlGAOzMum0
There’s a point, before Matt and Kevin come in, where the wall of sound quickly approaches painful to my ears, and I fully expect it to every time - I start to wince and brace for it, but it never reaches that point and it’s just beautifully strong and almost overwhelming.
I know that this is an older video, so the chances of you seeing this comment are very low. But I just have to say that I LOVE your PTX reaction videos! It doesn't hurt that you're handsome, and a British accent ALWAYS blows me away! ;) I loved this reaction! And I have a couple of requests! One is a Christmas song, and the other - while it's on a PTX Cmas album technically isn't a Christmas song! Lol Please react to PTX's covers of My Favorite Things (from The Sound of Music) and O Holy Night. I PROMISE they will blow you away!!! LOVE your reactions! Especially the PTX ones! :)
I checked out the original by The Rescues after hearing this. They are an American pop/rock band known for their 3 &4 part harmonies and their version is like the beginning of the PTX arrangement, with 3-part harmonies. But The Rescues stay in 3-part throughout, missing out on the drama of the 5-part PTX version, particularly Matt's bass. And their blend and unity is not as good as Pentatonix.
I love that for most of the song, their eyes are closed. They don't need to see each other, they feel each other.
Such a pure display of their talent. No single mics to mix levels or isolate and clean up. Just straight up talent and collaboration
They usually do a five part harmony song around one mic at some point in the show. Everyone goes really quiet like watching a play or musical. If the venue is small enough and has good acoustics they do the song without a mic.

Just saw them in New Jersey and they did this in their encore. 10k people and totally silent , absorbed in the harmonies.
Love your reactions
I was there, too! They were incredible. The total silence of the audience during gave me goosebumps the entire time.
There were 17,500 people at this show, and probably another thousand in the park outside. It’s a family atmosphere at PTX shows, and you see people who have never met leaning on each other and singing. So beautiful!
“They elevate music with their voices.” Perfectly said. Thank you, Adam!❤
I saw them perform last November and was so happy they included this song. It was beautiful. The best way for them to end the show. Everyone in the arena was touched, the spirit of their performance was palpable.

A big WOW for your honesty and heartfelt break down of this most elegant use of talented voices with all in Pentatonix!
I saw this very performance at the Hollywood Bowl. There was about a gazillion people there and you could hear a pin drop from 30 rows back. People weren't moving in their seats. They weren't whispering to each other. They were just straining their ears to make sure they could hear this song. It. Was. Magical.
I couldn't agree with you more. What they do to me each and every time. Thank you so much for the wonderful reaction.
At the end of the words begins the description of the talent and performance of this group. The best way to describe PTX is to feel their music.
I'm glad you picked this live video at the Hollywood Bowl instead of the Portland, Oregon live video. The Portland crowd whooped & hollered through most of the performance.
I love it when they do 5 part harmonies.
We are so blessed to be able to hear these magical sounds. What an incredible group of people. Thank you for this.

Their rendition of Silent Night in the cathedral is similar in their weaving of harmonies. Just gorgeous!!
"Wow!" sums this up very well, Adam. This is raw, naked talent.

My favourite performance by them ever.

Tx for your appreciation of our Pentatonix. Love it. Greetings from South Africa
They were as one breath. Astonishing! Great reaction, Adam.
I simply love this and your reaction. I cry every time I listen to this. Not from sadness but the sheer beauty of it moves me
Literally every time I hear them sing this song, I cry.
I heard them sing this song live last week in Alpharetta, GA.
The only sound heard in an amphitheater was a fussy young baby.
This one of the most moving experiences I have ever had.
Somehow I hadn't heard this yet. OMG that was fantastic. It actually brought me to tears. Not what I was expecting.
Spectacular reaction to a breathtakingly beautiful performance! Thank you Adam!
Seeing and hearing them perform this song live turned my husband into a Pentatonix fan (still working on him joining me as a Pentaholic 😊) It was exquisite! Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece!
Seeing them on Sept 14th i can hardly wait . saw them in 2018 incredible.
Just saw them live 3 days ago in Toronto....outdoors....12K people - dead silence throughout. Goosebumps. They are amazing.
Have you done The Recording of Evergreen, how they work together is fantastic.
I’ll have to check it out!

Delighted with your reaction to this. Once of my favorites too, as it is so perfectly done.
I've watched them do this song at least a hundred different times and it still gets me to the core. Thank you Adam for reacting to this, I knew you would love it!
So beautiful -- heard them live Saturday in Raleigh, NC and they are just AWESOME_
I just saw them perform this in concert last week. EPIC! As you saw there, thousands being quiet so all you could hear was PTX. Thank you for reacting to this.
Beautiful song they played this when they toured Australia ❤

Vocal magic!
This is a stunning masterpiece, and my favorite of theirs so far!

They’re truly special
Chills! Constant chills! Thank you for your reaction to this one!
What a wonderful reaction, it's so good to have you back with PTX 💗💗 Your face said it all..
Such a beautiful performance! ❤
In tears.
They have a new song called I Rise that is amazing as well
Such a beautiful reaction! Thank you!
Amen!
Magic.

Wow! Just WOW
You could hear a pin drop. I am Wowed again. 6:32
It's so beautiful...
Amazing performance! Have you listened to their original Run To You?

Recommend their cover of Mad World.
There’s a point, before Matt and Kevin come in, where the wall of sound quickly approaches painful to my ears, and I fully expect it to every time - I start to wince and brace for it, but it never reaches that point and it’s just beautifully strong and almost overwhelming.
Listen to Kiss from a rose, Prayers for this world, Sing, Radioactive, and Mad World.

They have a four part harmony version I'm posting separately here.
have you checked out teddy swims at all? if not...you're missing out ;)
I have a few reactions to him on my channel. Let me know if you check them out!
Talk about being into the music - I don't think Mitch opens his eyes the entire song.
