Now, here’s where it gets interesting. There are two theories I have come up with so far: 1. Dottie, after the tall man got ahold of her, is stuck in a nightmare/endless loop of horrifying deaths. This ‘loop’ caused her to go insane, and she fell completely under the control of the tall man and now runs the show to lure kids to the same fate. 2. Dottie is a puppet of sorts to the tall man, basically she has no control over most, if not all, of her actions. The tall man likely wants more ‘puppets’, and he’s using Dottie to get them. The scenes of brown-haired/past Dottie are really her real self trying to escape from her mind, where she’s trapped and tortured. The out-of-the-ordinary things that happen (eyeball in the mouth, hand growing from the dirt) are actually the nightmare-ish things she experiences while ‘trapped’, and while she slowly begins to fight back and resist the tall man, these nightmares are escaping her mind.
