This whole movie is so goooood! I loved it when I was little and I was completely in love with Matthew Broderick because of it 😂 And anyone who can learn this song…I think they’re awesome because good grief this song would be hard to learn.
i noticed it was a parady of this the second i heard the first few lines. (just watched the flim flan brothers just now) xD im currently sold on the show completely because of them now
I love this song, I only wish it wasn't parodied so much that few people know the origins (and this is a cover I know), but this is the second best televised version there is
He was so great in this .He set Broadway on FIRE with it! People were talkin' about it in all the restaurants in the area after the performance was over.
I love every version of this song I've ever heard, as it taught me a valuable life lesson i.e. how to spot a grifter: A so-called 'expert' comes in, sells the community on the idea that there's a problem, and then tries to sell them the solution.
movie remakes are the devil's tool but are fun Live, hard to imagine cary grant as the music man but as always, if he would of not turned down the movie role, it would be hard to imagine Robert preston
Broderick is a great actor and did a really good job at the acting bits of this movie, he makes a very convincing Harold Hill as a person. As for the music, he just doesn’t have that booming voice or that raw charisma that other famous performers of this story’s music do. Everything he sings feels forced and bland and not very rhythmic.
@iluvgum He didn't act bored at all he did a good job in this movie. Neither Music Man was better than they other they were good in their own ways and Matthew did a good job in it.
Katie12886 Nah, Robert Preston is definitely the supreme Harold Hill, especially when it comes with this song. Preston is so charismatic with this song when Broderick is so lifeless. It’s borderline sad to listen to for me at least.
I really love Matthew Broderick's work but he kind of sounds like he doesn't wanna be here at all. It just doesn't have the right _feeling_ in it?? Ya know? Amazing actor and singer, wrong role.
This is a satire right? Like, it's supposed to make fun of Robert Prestons masterful performance by taking a song full of charisma and speed and charm by making it slow and boring and tedious and flat? This sounds like one of those text-to-voice programs running at half speed.
Yet more dynamics than in the original, just watched the old movie and the new one, it's strange how the new one gets hate yet all accusations match the original better
What it means is that the protagonist is a scamer. He is trying to scam people into thinking that there is trouble in Rivercity. Translation, almost if not all of the infomercial that you see on TV. So, youu see my friend. We still have trouble, yes, trouble, yes right here, where you are, with the CAPITAL T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pool. Or I guess Fool. Because we are fool to fall for those scams. Have a nice day.
I wish people would stop comparing Matthew and Robert on who is better than who. Robert did a good job with how he did Harold and Matthew did a good job how he played Harold so please just let it be it's just annoying.
listen to the original by robert preston....the song is set in the twenties in iowa..it' is about a salesman who is trying to convince the pool table is going to cause trouble in the town and the kids will be playing pool instead of doing their work and acting 'moral'..
Robbie Hagberg and Sue Hagberg I was just saying that I was going to be fine with you and I can go to the store and get it tomorrow if you want me to do it tomorrow or not yet for the day or so I can get it tomorrow and I would like to have it done?
This whole movie is so goooood! I loved it when I was little and I was completely in love with Matthew Broderick because of it 😂 And anyone who can learn this song…I think they’re awesome because good grief this song would be hard to learn.
This song is funny and excellent at the same time!
Learning it is only half the battle. The rest is saying it at the same speed as the backing track/orchestra
He sounds too nice
No heart, this performance (or lack thereof) makes my soul weep.
i noticed it was a parady of this the second i heard the first few lines. (just watched the flim flan brothers just now) xD im currently sold on the show completely because of them now
It's captain Billy's whiz BANG!
...which. by the way, didn't come out until seven years after the action of the play.....
@@ericlurio246 yet you can still understand that he said bang not bag there's a huge difference
@@haleycastillo7768 I don't believe I said "bag"
I love this song, I only wish it wasn't parodied so much that few people know the origins (and this is a cover I know), but this is the second best televised version there is
I love this song..xD I actually learned the dance
There's Matthew Broderick.... and there's Robert Preston and Seth MacFarlane
Craig Bierko also did the part justice.
And Hugh Jackman
@@baxatakbaxatak2014 Mandy Patinkin also recorded a fairly good version of it (although he didn't play the role)
this makes me respect him more than I used to. BRAVO! :D BRAVO! Disney actually made a good movie for once!!!!! :D It's a miracle!
Thank you so much for uploading this. I love the way Matthew Broderick sings it! He's got swagger!!
:)

same here!! I didn't realize until i told my mom about the flim flam brothers song she said holy crap that sounds like trouble from the music man!!
That's what I thought when I started watching ponies with my kid. (grew up watching music man with Robert Preston)
Matthew Broderick was the voice of Simba as an adult.
I have to sing this for a performance and my directors told me to listen to this instead of the 1962 version that i was originally trying to do.
i understand😭😭😭
Sounds like it's comin' from one of them ai voice generators
Simba has a lot of greatness with a capital G, and that rhymes with P, which stands for pool!
I for one love Matthew as Harold Hill.
i have to memorize all the songs for the music man auditions. i don't know what song would be best to sing for auditions.
Probably 76 Trombones or this one, Trouble. 76 Trombones has the fast talking and the singing, so good balance
learning this song was the hardest part of play Harold for me
I'm In this song for my theatres music man :)
I’m sorry Mathew but this rendition was just the pits
I love this I'm doing a play on it
you're doing a play on a movie that was a play?
Look how long the video is
Its a good song so i dont care how long it is
movie remakes are the devil's tool but are fun Live, hard to imagine cary grant as the music man but as always, if he would of not turned down the movie role, it would be hard to imagine Robert preston
This is better then Robert Preston
No
Robert Preston is to the music man what yul brinner is to king and i
Welcome to the herd, I guess.
I’ve seen this version of the movie 🎥.
Thanks
I'd love to see the ponies reaction to that "sitting right there on the horse" line from the FlimFlams.
@Kelly Luck I'd like to see you star in a famous Musical but I bet that will never happen..
3:48 what happened to the lyrics
No offense to Matthew Broderick but he doesn't have the raw charisma of Robert Preston's.
Not sure if ya guys watched the same two movies I did lmao
Agreed. Broderick's just doesn't pack the same punch.
Even if Robert Preston never played the role, he sounds way too bland and uninterested in what he's selling. Even Jack Black sang it better.
Sorry, Ferris, but this version doesn't hold a candle to Robert Preston's.

As for the music, he just doesn’t have that booming voice or that raw charisma that other famous performers of this story’s music do. Everything he sings feels forced and bland and not very rhythmic.
Why the hell did they get this robot to play the part? Robert Preston would be rolling miles and miles in his grave over this travesty.
+Anton K I agree. Ferris Bueller aint no Robert Preston
+Anton K Yeah, Broderick is actually a talented singer, but this kind of half-talking half-singing mix is definitely not his strong suit.
Kind of adds to the con man persona.
well he was inspector gadge
Thinking in hindsight, casting Ferris Bueller as a con man makes sense.
I use this song to explain what a "slippery slope" is.
fun to quote this while fritterin with scarlet women while playing pool at a strip club and they have no idea what you are referencing
@iluvgum He didn't act bored at all he did a good job in this movie. Neither Music Man was better than they other they were good in their own ways and Matthew did a good job in it.

Listening to the original... Dang swype

He sounds like he’s reading this
Horrific
Compared to Preston
Wow
I actually really like this adaption. He makes it sound so easy
lol me too

Instink? Well, I suppose Broderick does sort of bring something like that to mind...
THEY SAY I RAP LIKE A ROBOT SO CALL ME RAP BOT.
heepy1 wow so necessary and original

+Guayoyo Azucarado Basically the same scheme that most of the current presidential candidates are going for.
who else hears Simba and also ponies brought me here

You...do know this is UA-cam right? And you shouldn't b talking since u can't seem to respect what I said.. It's called mind ur own damn business
Katie12886 I agree
I find comparing the two to be good for conversations. Besides, what you’re basically saying is “Stop having opinions” which is kinda dickish
Really hard to understand :( anyone knows what this song mean ??
listen to the original by robert preston....the song is set in the twenties in iowa..it' is about a salesman who is trying to convince the pool table is going to cause trouble in the town and the kids will be playing pool instead of doing their work and acting 'moral'..
i hate the way this harold delivers this

But i think the simpsons one is my favorite...

Ponies reference this, so I am hasn't thr original, sound cool

Is it just me or is the original alot faster?
Damn Matthew dont sound to excited abt the song

Flim and Flam brought me here...
Ponies brought me here.
Better then Robert Preston. A lot better.
What was that
Broderick was not the guy for this movie...
I'm sorry. All I hear is Simba.
I just don't understand why Broderick has a slight horrible fake Irish accent in certain parts but not the rest???
He did such a bad job - went through the motions, no timing.
1962 version is way better
Sounds like parody.

Ponies, really guys? No.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend honestly did a better job than this
Oh, lord help me. This is just sad. I mean, seriously, THIS is a professional Broadway production? Broderick is.jusst pathetic. I'm sorry. But he is.
This sucks compared to the original
One of the worst movies ever made.
HORRIBLE version.
