Walkers on the Outside - Steppers on the Inside.

Walkers on the “outside”, Steppers on the “inside” was a call made by the pioneer DJ's of Stepping Music when the tempo of the music in the set was about to be changed. It was a tradition in the dance or set. Tradition is something that is passed on so that the culture continues strong. It is a BEAUTIFUL scene when “Walkers” follow each other smoothly and circle the dance floor on the outside lane. THAT IS CHICAGO STYLE(TRADITION). And the people you see “WALKING” followed tradition even though the DJ’s today don’t call it. The tradition of Walking is deeply rooted in Chicago dancers. The call Walkers on the outside - Steppers on the inside is tradition and should NOT be subjected to “transition” and mythical beliefs in “evolution” and the construction of "SCHOOLS". It is something spiritual about the Walkers following each other inside the “sanctuary of togetherness”. ( If you don’t want to stay in the flow of the circle or if you want to combine a bop and walk, that's OK just dance on the inside) Sure things change but some thing should also REMAIN too.. Ain't nothing wrong with keeping GOOD traditions. So DJ’s call it ... “Walkers on the Outside-Steppers on the inside” It is a "tradition" that should (return) & remain in CHICAGO style SETS. The Chicago Style Social "Set" is smooth, cool and with a flow.
