You are so right. It is a bhajan. In Trinidad, some bhajans are erroneously named by the structure of the dholak beat. You will see a number of Sant Kabir bhajans are also erroneously named, "Thumris". Again, by the beat of the dholak and, believe me, it is not easy for a singer to accept this error.
Hey Dennis, from my understanding its when the sound of the drum are sung or a ryhtmic piece is sung, lyrics that dont have a meaning just sounds that make a melody and beat like "cha na na" etc
\\\\@@harindermootoor7158 You are partially right. Tilanas are made up of syllables of the Taalas but in Trinidad, the names of the type of songs are erroneously dictated by the style of the dholak beat. The song is not a Tilana at all. It is a Bhajan. The same goes for the so called Thumris which are mostly Sant Kabir bhajans. Nevertheless, they are erroneously named "Thumris" because of the structure of the dholak beat. Don't tell that to the singer!!!! Nice to see that you picked up on this. Regards

What makes this bhajan a "Tilana"?

Tilana is a raag. This is a tilana by the drum teka but isnt a tilana by text. By text it is a bhajan.
