The 80's music is wonderful…….. loved this show and never missed it……. the show had one of the best cast of actors at the time……. always had great music
The 80's was the coolest time to be alive EVER... Miami Vice was one of the best shows on tv!! The clothes, the music, DON JOHNSON... If only I could go back...
No way would the man look as good as did & still does, were he a smoker as he was playing in " Miami Vice" ! DJ was blessed with extraordinary looks as a teen, & he kept them for a long, long time! Wolfsky9
The memories of growing up in this decade will forever be my favorite ones. Tears are coming to my eyes right now. Many of you understand exactly what I mean. For the ones who don't, man, I feel a little sorry for you! lol.. Good times.
Yeah I understand you,I'm welling up a bit watching this,so many memories of being young and out in the lights n darkness in my Cricket suit with all my old mates, wish I could do again just for one more night.
Back then, this show (and Don Johnson) were the best Friday night date I had had in a long time :) I had been married for about 8 years at the time. Bought my husband all those 80's styles and he wore 'em too. I miss my man (not Don), but my man.
Wed, 24 July 2013: This was one of the best t.v shows on in the 80's and Glenn Frey's hit song "You Belong To The City" was awesome. It is still a great song today. I can listen to it over and over. Let's go Miami Heat 3-pete, 2014 NBA champs again. Pequeña Cuba es la mejor ciudad del sur. NKD
I'm in!! The 80's had such kick-ass music... This song was just one of many that were a part of the soundtrack to the best years of my life.... Is that why we are so nostalgic? Is it a longing to go back to the time when we felt so alive and powerful, that you were sure you could channel the electricity out of the air through your body? Such good memories when i hear this song.... the world was my oyster then, and i took full advantage of it - never felt as alive since.
Damn it! Going on a nostalgia trip and listening to old 80s songs like this one is really making me want to take the saxophone back up. Haven't played one in 18 years and they cost a fortune, but it's such a sexy instrument that oozes coolness.
I moved from a city to a small town back then and missed the city soooo much - used to play it over and over again and cry - got back to the city again and never left!
Miami Vice was and still is my favorite T.V. show. Iconic. It is amazing how many big name actors today started with this series of shows. No other show of that era had the music performed by the actual artists. THEY WERE GENERIC.Not Vice. Never before had a program invested a million per episode. T.V. and movies are what they are today because of this epic show.
Sometimes I would cruise through Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami, South Beach and once in a while cruise up Biscayne Blvd but this is a old school jam that I really liked back in the day. I miss the 80s those were the days and Miami Vice was one of my favorite shows.
This just popped up in my FB page from Don Johnson Fan Page! Funny because I just listened to it a few days ago and been on Netflix watching every episode!! After all these years Miami Vice is STILL one of the best cop/detective shows to ever hit TV! I still love it!!
A true period piece, but one that NEVER lost its realism; in fact it became MORE real with every passing year... Too bad Rico & Sonny had to age, along with the rest of us... Mike O
That was a great episode. This video from Prodigal Son was also great. Miami Vice was unbelievably good TV, and like many others here I also wish I could go back and do the the 1980's all over again. Everybody loved Vice :)
I was right there in my early 20s and never missed an episode. DJ was sooooo hot and soooo cool and there hasn't been anyone like him since - he had it all - I still watch MV and his old interviews and I still can't get over just how physically perfect a man he was.
Don Johnson is a beautiful looking man and an underrated actor who deserved to go further than he did. I never understood why he never had a successful career in films like Mel Gibson, Kurt Russell, etc.
¡GOOD! MI SERIE FAVORITA..CUANTO RECUERDOS A FLORAN EN MI ..CUANDO ESPERABA A MI PAREJA ..MIRANDO MIAMI VICE..HOY MI PAREJA YA NO ESTA ENTRE NOSOTROS .SOLO ESTA SU RECUERDO..CON ESTA DIVINA SERIE...
Hi Sarah, I too was a teenager in the 1980's and had a monster size crush on handsome Don Johnson..was even going to marry him. He only had eyes for Melanie!!!
Catherine Correia I thought George Michael was cute but he wasn't my type.if you don't mind me saying George Michael isn't as good looking as he was in the 80's.
I agree with you about George Michael being good looking in the 1980's. He was handsome with a healthy head of thick hair! Now, he has thin hair and a washed out face...By the way Sarah, may I ask how old you are? I was born in 1966. I am now 47 years old.
This definitely is Sonny Crockett's theme song!!! He was one of the top coolest guy in the 80's and this song fits him perfectly! Miami Vice was they shyt!! This is one of my top favorite songs from the show that makes me want to watch it every time I hear! Think I'm about to hit up Netflix and watch a couple episodes! LOVED IT as a kid and still LOVE IT!!
Don Johnson is the only person who ever made smoking look cool to me. He made smoking look so cool, that I was tempted to start. Glad I didn't but still...
Sonny Crockett was one bad ass dude!! This should be his theme song!! About to go on Netflix now and watch some Miami Vice episodes & for the next few hours feel like I'm living back in the 80's!!
I have loved listening to Glen Frey's music for many, many years ( more than 30 years now) & watched their concerts on DVD's as soon as they came available to the public. I hope they do another Fare Well Tour & get to see them one more time. I hope it won't wind up like the Bee Gee's , that was a very sad ending for them ( or should I say Barry ). I'll love them all for " Eternity ". I"m going to go Barry's You Tube channel & post it there. It would be more appropriate there..
I thought this saxphone part is so awesom..when I was 13 years old..I still think this so till this day..wish my dad would have let me play the saxaphone..
Thank you Adolphe Sax and Glenn Fry, as well as the makers of Miami Vice and Don Johnson. The 80s wouldn't have been the same without this combination.
Only Don Johnson could wear a suit like that and make it COOL! He was and will always be the coolest guy from Hollywood.

He didn't 'play' a smoker. Don Johnson was a serious smoker in real life. Serious.
Margo McKaine I think he still does, but I could be wrong, he may have quit
The memories of growing up in this decade will forever be my favorite ones. Tears are coming to my eyes right now. Many of you understand exactly what I mean. For the ones who don't, man, I feel a little sorry for you! lol.. Good times.
I know exactly what you mean . Amazing decade to grow up in . This show was simply off the scales . Still today nothing has surpassed it
Yeah I understand you,I'm welling up a bit watching this,so many memories of being young and out in the lights n darkness in my Cricket suit with all my old mates, wish I could do again just for one more night.
Miami looked so good in the 80's. If just there was a time machine....
This is NYC
80's is so sweet. people have dreams back then.
Back then, this show (and Don Johnson) were the best Friday night date I had had in a long time :) I had been married for about 8 years at the time. Bought my husband all those 80's styles and he wore 'em too. I miss my man (not Don), but my man.

Catherine Correia yep I know what you mean I wanted to marry Don Johnson too.I hope I don't offend you but I never cared for Melanie.
Hi Sarah, no offence taken! By the way, I wanted to marry George Michael too as a teenager but I missed out Again!! Oh well he prefers boys....
Catherine Correia I thought George Michael was cute but he wasn't my type.if you don't mind me saying George Michael isn't as good looking as he was in the 80's.
