I love how Trevor screams and shouts like The Oscar Expert and Thomas reacts calmly like The Film Drunk. Makes for a wonderful contrast and the perfect duo
Even if it wins Bafta and is the lone picture nominee in adapted I STILL don’t think it wins. The Oscar don’t give screenplay to war movie. In 1998, Thin Red Line was the only picture nominee in adapted screenplay, but it still went to Gods and Monsters. I could see see something similar happening.
RRR is intentionally subbed at BAFTA. That's a true win for RRR 🔥😂 RRR showed literally what British r@cism was while Raju was snubbed promotion. They made it true even after 100 years.

Women Talking & Aftersun are DONE (HOPEFULLY with the exception of Paul Mescal getting in for Best Actor at Oscars). Happy GPB got in for Director for TWK. Some of the nominations are good and some are like WTH???!!!!!!
Yeah... Very mixed feelings about these noms. Still think Women Talking can get screenplay and score at the Oscars and Mescal can get in for Aftersun. But yeah, other than that, those two are done...
No, The Whale in Best Picture is terrible over Women Talking, also WTF Women Talking is so dead that's so sad, i think the last 3 Oscar spots are The Whale, All Quiet, Babylon, but chances for Wakanda Forever and Triangle.
As someone whose two favorite “award contender” movies are Tar and The Whale, yes, I am very happy. The Whale already got everything it needed out of the BAFTAs. A win for Fraser would be nice, but I think as long as it’s not Butler, Fraser still comes out the favorite. And it probably won’t win screenplay, but the fact it was nominated while Glass Onion, Top Gun, and Women Talking were not already puts it in position to be a real contender. It is now set up for 5 nominations, with 3 possible wins (I think Elvis takes makeup, but The Whale has a chance). Tar also got everything it needed out of the nominations. That said, for Tar to become the dark horse best picture contender I hope it will be it needs a win in picture, director, or screenplay, in addition to Blanchett’s win (which I’m strongly predicting). I was disappointed RRR got snubbed, but both Decision to Leave and (especially) All Quiet getting the love they need to potentially get best picture nominations made it sting a bit less.
I have Babylon (barely) above Wakanda Forever. A) I doubt the Oscars will put in 3 blockbusters B) the 1st Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon (and a change in cinema). WF isn’t C) Wakanda Forever has a worse reception then the 1st Now for Babylon. Despite it’s polarizing reception I still think it can get in. A) this is a bait film about old Hollywood and the film industry B) a strong tech contender (CD, PD and Score are locks with a possibility in Editing) C) got BP at GG and CC D) maybe still has a shot in acting and cinematography categories E) SAG Ensemble Nom Or maybe Triangle of Sadness can get in instead of Babylon idk.
I really really hope you're right. I hope Babylon can be Nightmare Alley, and I agree that CD, PD, and Score are all very strong, but I've taken it out of editing and cinematography. Also, a movie has never gotten a SAG Ensemble/PGA snub combo and gotten nominated for Best Picture out of 11 occurrences (see House of Gucci and Da 5 Bloods recently). Black Panther looks like it has a shot just out of sheer nomination count and an acting win. But, it's far from IN. Triangle and Living could both get Screenplay and Acting, so they're both very possible as well. Really hope it's just Babylon though.
here's something right here, If Blanchett wins both SAG and BAFTA, Michelle Yeoh's chances of winning an oscar are done because Cate Blanchett will be the frontrunner
I mean at this point it's quite clear that the British voters are not in favour of RRR (& we know why), and I think I am not sure but they have quite a large number of academy voters. It's okay it's just one award it's fine. We will celebrate " all that breathes" nomination.
