It has been estimated that 50% of this forms gases during ground fires. Measurements show that 90% of the volume is CO2 and the remaining 10% is considered CO. Combined with oxygen from the atmosphere and from the biomass itself, the total emission is 221 metric tons of CO2 and 15.4 of CO.
