Hikaru is such a fascinating human. He is super confident all the way up to the moment he isn't. The level of skill is great to watch.
It’s incredible what super GMs like Hikaru can accomplish down 6 points of material (intentionally) against NMs and 2400 players.
Honestly I cannot grasp how good he (and super gms are) I would get sauced by the lowest of NMs with a blindfold. I cannot comprehend the difference in level.
at this point im wondering if a super bot like Stockfisch can win against a super gm without a queen.
@@reymyskiller probably if super gms weren't prepared for it. If they were prepared for queen sac I'm assuming they could win atleast 70 percent of games, lower time controls would be tough against stock fish thou up material or not
@Beybaba Efendi A super GM would beat stockfish >99% of the time even if they're only given one clean minor piece odd. Let alone a queen. Like Hikaru often said, after a certain level, people start to understand how to clarify and simplify winning positions. You can just trade down and shut down all tricks to not give stockfish any chance to outcalculate you.
Historically from various studies and experiments, GMs seem to need around 3 pawns odds or 2 pawns + 1 tempo to beat Stockfish. Hikaru has beaten Stockfish before with an exchange odds, but he struggled a lot with it, so it was a fair match. Something like a clean piece up would be easy though. Hikaru (and any GM really) would win 100/100 times as long as they're not careless. Let alone a queen up.
@@luckyjc8702 So you could say that, after reaching a defined elo like 2700+ you would always win against a super bot with queens ods no matter how good the bot is (e.g 4000+ Elo).

- 1 blunder
- 5 “oh, shoot, I blundered this” (actually an inaccuracy at worst)
(the only actual blunder is him giving up his queen)

I would like to see Magnus try this against 2400s.
Magnus style is made for this. Clear positional play, avoiding trades and open tactics. He would do well. Magnus drew a 2600 English GM a clear piece down in a classical game.
Magnus and Hikaru are quite similar strength in blitz though, right? I think Magnus wouldn't do too much better.
I am rooting for you in the Candidates. You are as good as any of them and you will be relaxed with nothing to lose. You are a very successful businessman doing what you love for a living. Who could ask for more? Good luck and go kick some ass.

Wtf this is insane almost damn 2409 rating?!
Seeing this video it reminded me of a story I had with you.
I was playing bullet on ICC and this guy I had beaten started shouting trash talking me and accusing of cheating (I never cheated in my whole life!). So I trash talked him back and, out of the blue, This guest t messaged me saying that I should not say those things cause I was to weak and he could beat me pretty bad.
Then we started playing, me and this guest, and he proved his word. At that moment I could clearly sense that I was playing a GM. I wanted to play more, but not bullet which I had never enjoyed much, but blitz, and I said he was pretty strong, but in blitz the score would be different. Then we started playing blitz.
I couldn’t get anything done, even the simplest plan on earth, but it was very funny and we played a bunch.
At the end I congratulated him and said that I new I was playing no ordinary GM and asked if he could tell me his Identity, and he said: Smallvile.
I was already a fan of you and since this day I became a diehard fan.
Candidates starts tomorrow, best of luck to Hikaru!
He should get the IM thing next to his name and ask FIDE

the rook usually can't be taken. He has said it interrupts the flow of the game and wouldn't work
rooks are more endgame practical so in early game he is basically down a queen for no compensation
Beginners and amateurs think 5>3. Higher level professionals like Hikaru realise the bishop is more valuable, especially in the middle game and wouldn’t simplify for that. Don’t think in points, think positionally

@@xpictos777 true but magnus won many times though. This is more of a testement to hikaru's skill though, winning lots of games againts arguably the greatest chess player of all time is a feat.
Classical games: Magnus Carlsen beat Hikaru Nakamura 12 to 1, with 21 draws. Including rapid/exhibition games: Magnus Carlsen beat Hikaru Nakamura 33 to 14, with 39 draws. Only rapid/exhibition games: Magnus Carlsen beat Hikaru Nakamura 21 to 13, with 18 draws.

@@willsmith124 Yeah. It is. Chess is pretty hard. I tried to learn openings but it doesn’t help because my opponents don’t even come close to playing anything near what I studied so I just becomes a big mess.

What’s crazy to me is that hikaru doesn’t seem to be calculating, I may be wrong, but for many moves, it looks like he’s going with his gut, instead on thinking, if x, then y, and if I’m wrong, oh well, but if I’m right, hikaru is beating 2200+ players, queenless, and hardly calculating, he does sometimes, but only like, twice a game, and only like 3 moves ahead, which is impressive considering it’s done in 2 seconds, but this (may) not even be his full power! And that’s just stupid, insane, ridiculous, another thing that means that!
He doesn't really have a choice. If he calculates any more than he does in these videos, his opponents will just catch up on time with him and have an easy win on their hands. The only way Hikaru can beat these 2300-2400 opponents is if he puts pressure on their clock.

@@dankness420 That's not the only reason. 3+0 is by far the most common blitz time control. But yeah, he wouldn't be this high rated with increment. My prediction, based on what I've seen in this speedrun, is that he'd cap out at around 2100-2200 at 3+2.
