I searched for this channel to make a suggestion but was faced with this surprise! I can't wait to see what people will come up with. Anyway here is my challenge: First, find another conlanger like you and make sure you both have conlangs the other doesn't know anything about. Then you take turns teaching each other your conlangs. When teaching, you're not allowed to use any language other than your conlang but images and other clues are allowed. Also, be honest and try teaching as well as you can! Then it's up to you when to stop, but when you're done, the one who can reverse engineer the other's conlang wins. I initially had this idea with natural languages. I wanted to see two people slowly building up a dictionary using this "pure" method.
Sounds like a fun challenge! I don’t know if youve heard of Clongcraft, but it’s a server where you can only communicate in a conlang naturally evolving in the server, with no assistance except in the language itself, on the server. It’s a similar vibe to what youre talking about in a way
man I hate having ADHD but also love it, because I probably never would have started making a language if not for these, but I also haven't worked on my ccc submision for at least half a year now.
YES!!! I absolutely LOVE this! I wish I could actually get involved in this cursedness (not to win or anything, just to show of my “masterpiece”), but I lack the resources necessary. I will be viewing these CCC3 videos however for my sheer entertainment. :)
@@Phisilon the idea of someone recording a video of various sheets of paper with information about their language while explaining what that information means would make for a very interesting if not entertaining video.
@@Bread_Lock the phone or computer was required for editing the video, but i want someone to act out themselves going insane trying to research there language for their submission. With all there paper and drawings scattered across the floor.
I can't decide if I want to make a completely now conlang, or completely rework my Agma Schwa language to be just ŋə. I mean, I'm going to make ŋə anyway, I've been wanting to make another youtube video since... well last CCC, so I might make a video about it, but I also feel like I should be more creative for CCC3...
I'm not gonna make it myself, for several reasons. But please someone do a Proto-Language for Klingon and Vulcan. I'm not even a Star Trek fan, but that's the first idea that came to mind.
Potential CCC4 translation text: I'll probably make a submission for CCC3. However, if I don't have the resources necessary to make a video by the deadline (which is very likely), I'll definitely make one for CCC4 if you're planning on doing one.
Plenty of people used them last year. So long as it's in English and doesn't have god awful audio quality or excessive silence, I don't see any reason that that would break any of the requirements. You will probably get more natural viewers and more voters willing to sit through the whole thing if you use your real voice or find a very natural sounding text to speech voice, but the choice is up to you there.
My dude had to watch literal days of content, much of it was likely of dubious quality. Hence, the new regulations. He simply wants to streamline the process and allow us to see the results faster and with less stress for him and his team.
I watched through all three parts of CC2. A lot of it was barely watchable to me (listenable really, as it was almost entirely audio issues that made it difficult to sit through), and I definitely had a higher tolerance for it than your average viewer. With the almost guaranteed increase in participants, the number of videos with questionable watchability would become quite overwhelming, and it would likely turn voters off of watching as many submissions as possible if there's a high density of unwatchable videos (in a row or in total). And for the eventual finalist video, I doubt that the finalists would have audio issues, as I doubt people would continue watching videos with audio issues long enough to have a good opinion on the language, but it helps to just be sure of that. The length limit, while disappointing in terms of how much time you get to explain, will increase the percentage of your video that people are able/willing to sit through, which means people will have the full context of your language when voting. And it causes significantly less pain and suffering to Agma, his team, and his technology to work on a 8ish hour video of reviewing conlangs than a 24 hour plus video (likely underestimating there).
Forget about E3, C3 is the biggest event of the year for us! Harsh lessons have been learned in the arduous march of last year, here's hoping for greater glory! You sound traumatized in your reading of the Twilight script. Also, you labeled both texts as "option #1".
I hope the Cursed Conlang Circus continues to improve and evolve. I am confident that I will make a submission. Also, I never knew why some videos can only be heard through one channel. It's easy to fix, for you just need to copy the audio and switch the channel of that copy.
Hello! I am very excited to participate in this circus of esoteric conlangery. But I did notice an error in the second translation text option, the "Hark! It was ruled by Agamashuya" one, specifically the clause "Deny thine humanity...". "Thine" was used as a noun form of the 2nd person possessive pronoun, aka "yours" in Early Modern (Shakespearean) English. It was also used as a form of the 2nd person possessive pronoun before a vowel. In this case, "thy" would be used as a replacement for "thine", because "Deny yours humanity" is ungrammatical in English, I believe the intended meaning was "Deny your humanity." There is a chance that I am wrong about this, and I am very excited to see all of the insane creations brought up by this event.
free idea for #cc3: make a conlang such that if you want to speak a polite sentence you may have to solve the halting problem for certain problems. Overall have every detail of the text spread across a program. For example, using the number of symbols for the program minus the number of variables time 5 to determine the time (0=present;>0 -> future; past) and/or have the number of variables that actually can change the output determine about how many people it is taking about etc.
The dark grey one is Obby and the grey/white one is Daryl. They both lived in our neighborhood for several years before we permanently took them in, so they've known each other for a long time, haha.
Time to break everything. Edit: And then you realize you're screwed because you found the competition over a month late and only have just over a month to flesh out a full language that is completely broken.
I have a conlang I'm making that is just a slew of consonants (no vowels except for the unintentional schwa transition). I think you'll get a kick out of it. I'll edit this comment when the video comes through. Edit: I made it, and I did submit it
There's a note on screen with that that you need to at least have subtitles in English, so you could likely narrate in the target conlang with subtitles English subtitles on screen
