Our problem here in South Africa is that the initial cost of the EC fan assembly is more than a normal S4D500 AC and a fan speed control, i dont think the EC fans will ever really become a seller in RSA. Retail value from Kovco, R3 500 including VAT fan speed control R1 500 incl. EC fan 500mm R12 000. People dont think that far into the future, i mean they are now picking rotaries and scrolls for refrigeration....

Hi Dean, yes you're right EC is more expensive. We believe that we should offer as much value to end users as possible. Things will change and I for one think that good engineering gives us good economics as well as good applications. On the side - please be assured of fan speed controls with AC fans; I have seen power increase and life times drop dramatically with these combinations. I hope Mr Petrie can help with any of your needs. Thanks again, Simon

I do have the same problem here. how can i convince our clients to choose the EC Plug Fan when they have the cheaper one ' centrifugal fans with AC motors and speed control '

do the size of box/container where the backward curve fan is located will affect the air speed? how large is the container until the fan lose its speed? if so, how to measure the air speed before it pass the filter/duct?

Hi Lufti, I suggest using a standard air anemometer on the air inlet. Test in several spots where there is clean and non turbulent air flow.

Hi Niranjan, by EC we mean "Electrical Commutated" or sometimes referred to "brushless". Thanks for asking.

Hi, same same as comments on other video. The other video is the new design and I will be making some more videos on the new generations of product shortly.

@@SimonBradwell: Right, but my point was just to try to help you be aware not to say "also..." and then "...as well" to refer to the same item or action, etc., since those two things mean about the same.

    This motor is so expensive..

Hi, it's true. EC products are more expensive that traditional motor and impeller combinations. In addition however they have an integrated speed controller and their life time costs will be much lower. Please contact us at sales@au.ebmpapst.com and we can help with some more details. Thank you for commenting. Simon
