Hi! This robot is folded from a sandwich of multiple layers containing fiber glass or ABS plastic, Kapton and a flexible circuit. Each layer can be laser machined or printed using a multi-material 3D printer. Its legs and feet are driven by shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators, which are activated in a specific sequence to enable two modes of locomotion: jumping and crawling.
