Hahaha I sat there for ages trying to work out the easiest way to explain a violin plot and realised there probably isn't one. Hopefully it still made sense to most!
Great video Ross. Have you seen any historical data to back up the "on the beach" and "something to play for" phenomena? Are they cliches for a reason or have we all got used to saying them without actually knowing if there's anything there?
Some of the big examples I can think of are Newcastle beating Tottenham 5-1 after getting relegated and more recently Palace beating Villa 5-0 at the end of last season
Choosing Iraola for AM in GW24 makes a lot of sense tho. Table bonus for the Liverpool game, then GW25 and 26, Bournemouth faces Saints and Wolves. Oof!
Agreed with most thoughts on the AM chip and fits with my own plan about the chip too. I plan to back the underdog Everton on gw 24, having a bet on the last derby at Goodison park and also targeting the easier LEI fixture. Then I plan to change to Arsenal with LEI + WHU in gw 25 + 26. Or Bournemouth with SOU + WOL. I prefer Arsenal since I have 1.5 m in the bank for a couple of weeks. Also, though Arsenal has some up and downs recently, I feel they can get a big win + clean sheet easily against LEI + WHU. So this matches the things you said including 1 transfer on manager, 1 table bounes team, 70%+ for Arsenal to win. Two more reasons to back the decision to use the chip on gw 24. One is that you can put all your money in the squad after using the chip. For example, if you wildcard in gw 30 and use AM in gw 31 to 34, then you have a weaker team in this period since you need to leave money in the bank and also needs at least one transfer to reinvest the money in gw 35. Secondly, we are now in a point where everyone is not concernd about the budget. Most people don't own Haaland comparing to the beginning of the season, but City is slowly picking the form and their fixtures after gw 26 against Liverpool is good. So people may want to bring Haaland or Foden in the team at that time. And Saka may return earlier as well. So I feel people will have a tight budget and it will become a concern at the last part of the season. In short, I think I tend to play the chip early and then forget about it. So I can have more money to invest in the squad and more flexibility to choose the players.😊
FH34 still has the potential to look like absolute wank if 12 teams play and NEW - IPS + LIV - TOT are moved into gameweek 36. FH29 is definitely the best play if NEW, CRY, LIV, AVL are the teams blanking in gw29 (i.e. LIV v NEW is EFL Cup Final).
Went with Dango, purely on the fact that he is a mid playing as No.9. With Evanilson out, he is going to get good minutes and have been playing 90 since Evanilson was injured.
This season I started to follow you and couple of other FPL contents (or whatever you call it in English?). Me and some friends have a small FPL league for fun which make every game more interesting to watch and chat about. Of course I try to gain as many points as possible and you had some really good input this time on how to think about the remaining chips (used my triple captain in stupid way earlier this season). Always with good positive content. Keep up the good work 👍
Assuming Spurs start getting players back in the next week or 2 and can keep the rest of their players fit I feel like this chip was built for Anges teams. On any given day they can beat any team except maybe Liverpool with their main starting 11 and because they're sitting near the relegation zone they have 5 place bonus vs teams like Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Fulham. Double edged sword is, of course, Spurs can also lose to any team on any given day. It's like gambling 2 hands at the same time and praying for a win.
Hi Ross Great Video. I’ve been pretty much set on TC24 BB33 FH34 AM36-38 I’ve gotta accept the red arrows until GW 33 but there’s enough time for recovery. GW38 AM should be lit
I am probably closest to the 3rd strategy as I'm deadending to GW29 and Assman in 31-33. But I'd probably want to Wildcard in GW30 as well to set my team up for the DGW33 and the end of the season. I think the BB36 can be set up with FTs not necessarily a Wildcard. To position yourself to attack fixture run from GW30 on would have more upside than just WC35 for a BB36 in my opinion.
hey ross, thoughts on WC32, BB 33, FH 34 and AM 36-38? u get the optimal bench boost from a wildcard like u discussed and also can go for the high ceiling of AM in 36.
Hi Ross, love the content and first comment here! Maybe a stupid question as newish to fpl but is there no rationale for BB in 24? Seems like at the moment not many people are struggling for cash with halaand/Watkins/son/saka out /underperforming or just not flavour of the month... Other cheap assets over performing+ giving access to EVE doublers without the opportunity cost of not playing your other options and they are relatively cheap in position? (And wanting some of these big names later) If you are saying the TC is played because it's better to use it sub optimally now Vs later wondering if you have the same breakdown compared BB or why it's not worth considering? I would have thought the biggest benefit of the BB is that it gives you more roles of the dice of players doing well so better in weeks where it's uncertain on results compared to TC where you are all in on one player so want more certainty (e.g. that Salah double in 33?)..... Or is this flawed logic Sorry for the essay!
Hi! Stuck in a real benching dilemma because I can either start Kerkez or Greaves! Feel like Kerkez can get something vs Liverpool, but Greaves (vs. Robinson) is the better on-paper fixture. Who should I play?
I always planned to use TC this week, but Bournemouth away and Everton away are not easy games. I’m debating leaving TC for Salah at home to Southampton
What are your thoughts about Bench Boosting this week? Greaves is playing Southampton at home and if you're buying Alisson or Pickford for the double then you could have two playing goalkeepers too.
Can't decide between Wissa and Gakpo to bring in. With Gakpo I get another game but Wissa is a lot cheaper and will enable more transfers in the following weeks.
Gakpo has 2 fixtures but tough teams to play away. Maybe one goal in both? Wissa can score 2 in one half vs tottenham. If you got lot of money, gakpo otherwise Wissa is a very good pick imo.
I was thinking of getting a third Liverpool player. Only move I have is Wood -> Gakpo for a -4, worth it or not? I have Salah, TAA and Pickford for the double game week with TC on Salah. I am a bit hesitant due to the upcoming fixtures.
Thanks mate! And no, not really because you can carry FTs through wildcard and free hit now, so I think you can pick your favourite strategy independent of that
Is it worth using the AM chip on Moyes or Silva?? Moyes has a double and then CRY and MAN U but Silva has two games where he could potentially get table bonus points
Could anyone answer a question for me please? The assistant manager chip is active for 3 gameweeks, does that mean we can’t play any other chip for the whole of those 3 gameweeks?
On another note, Man Utd are rubbish. Bruno is such an easy transfer out to Mbeumo this week if people own plenty of NEW, CRY, LIV assets given who those teams play in future gameweek and you've probably bought a few gameweeks ago. Harry is doing Bruno to Mbeumo and it's a good move
So, literally no one came with strategy 3 with gw 33 and 36 chips inverted. And that's something I'm counting on for weeks, especially if Spurs knock out Reds... I would go that way anyway, but I finally got some confirmation. p.s., don't give up on that like with no-haaland idea ;)
Will any of them actually play both games & if so, how many minutes. Look at the game run to make a decision. AssMan, then he preceded to say, " I just wanted to touch on this." 😂 Dango midfielder but playing as a ST.
Wood,Son,Lewis and Graves out for -> Wissa,Kluivert,A.Trent and konatè for a -4? OR Wood,Son,Lewis,Gordon out for Gakpo, Kluivert, A.Trent and Mbeumo for a -4?
I have two Free transfers and will be switching out Van Dijk for Kerkez and J. Pedro to Gakpo (Already have Trent and Salah). Given Spurs miserable form would you take a -4 hit to get in Wissa for Wood? Meaning I can get Kluivert/B'mouth mid asset in GW25.
Keep watching the pros talking about TC/AM. I’ve still got haaland, got 3x Newcastle 2x Fulham. Can’t help but think free hit is better as fighting for mini league rank. What you think?
I am sorry, I don't agree with the ndiaye logic. Would you buy Gakpo if it was not for the double gameweek? I wouldn't. If you have a cheap forward like a raul or a joao pedro who are not getting much returns and have a spare transfer, it is absolutely worth the shot at ndiaye.
If the manager you have chosen plays a team five places higher and gets a win or a draw, etc, then the table points are much greater than the normal points return from a high-ranking team.
Think your being too negative on Ndiaye and Everton. Pedro has been awful a straight swap for an extra fixture with a new manager bounce and can bench him most weeks plus plays in the blank?
There is no such thing as a certainty in the premier league. Everything is a guess. So saying that you want teams that are 70% or 30% makes no sense. These are based on what? Bookie's odds? Does this ensure results go that way? Of course not. At the end of the day we are all guessing. Nobody knows what the outcome will be. Here's a tip follow your own gut. You are every bit of much of a chance as any other strategy. Leicester were 5000 - 1 to win the premiership. How well did the bookie's go there?
I understand what you are saying, and apologies if it came across that I think 70% = a certainty. But regardless of whether you trust your gut feeling, bookies odds, underlying data etc, you are estimating based on probabilities of how likely the event is to occur.
Ross what do you think of the argument to do AM24 if you currently have the right money ITB and the right players in your team, as it frees up the money to create an optimal WC30? E.g. i have lots ITB and no triple ups, so if i use it this week (i have used my TC) I can dead end into 29 and make the best use of my team value in WC30 without having to retain 1.5m ITB. This could mean i have the best possible GW33 BB, and then take the funds out of my bench to have the best XI for GW36? Hope this makes sense, thanks

Hey Ross, reckon Alisson and Wood to Pickford and Gakpo for a hit is worth it?
it’s not worth changing alisson to pickford, especially for a hit
Just do wood to gakpo. If you can’t afford it, make a downgrade elsewhere. Not worth taking out alisson this week.
