Thank you Katie! I appreciate you acknowledging as adoptive parents we have emotions too, we're not perfect, and I appreciate your insightfulness.

The same thing happened to us during the transition process! We had a month-long transition with visits nearly every day that were over an hour away.

Definitely seeing first baby now 32 pulling away from family and going his own way even ghosting us at times. Childhood and teen years were wonderful. Hoping he comes back one day, in the meantime it is heartbreaking. Other two are close and content in the family fold.

Thank you Katie ❤ I would love to chat. Things have been chaotic and ongoing unfortunately. There’s so much more to what’s going on. I get he’s been through so much and I am empathetic and try my best to help him along with therapy. He is extremely defiant and can be verbally abusive and controlling (like he’s superior to me) and he squares up to my husband. He’s constantly manipulating me and just this weekend stole over $600.00 from us. I’m really at a loss. My husband and I have our own trauma as we tragically lost our 5 year old daughter in 2015.

We did a kinship adoption last year of our 3 yr old grandchild. We're currently trying to get placement to adopt our 9 yr old great nephew who was previously adopted by another family member. I love him so much and want him with us so much but ill admit im nervous about how he'll settle in and trust us not to dump him like his birthmother and his aunt/ adoptive mother both did. Im taking classes and going to accept all resources offered. But it doesn't really feel like enough. Im open to an advice anyone can share.

@@amylarsen1250 it sounds like that poor kid has been through so much! I’m sure it will be hard for him at first to trust, and it could take a long time and a lot of “proving yourself” to him to be trustworthy, but I’m hopeful he will get there! I think you would really benefit from my Facebook community because we help each other with situations like this a lot! Definitely recommend joining the wait list if you think you are interested!

Need words of wisdom from people with experience 😊 two children who have been in foster care over 16 months TPR scheduled next month. There is no family comeing for these kids. My husband and i would like to adopt them. What was your experience on the wait time from after tpr to adoption? Thank you everyone

I asked the adoption dissolution question. One of the hardest things about this is there was no good reason given. There are some behaviors and mental health concerns, but no violence, nothing that would rise to residential treatment level. I've pressed for more info, because there has to be something else, right? None of the professionals in this case can make heads or tails of this either. I do think part of it is the adoptive parents didnt know how to handle the identity stuff adoptive youth can go through in their teens and I fear another part of appears to be that they didn't like that she is gay.
