- Enjoy your ride on one of the neatest buses in the transit system in lower mainland! P3306 is refitted with a Cummins C+ engine for the "Test Of The Power Of Tomorrow", a test showcase program involving experiments with different types of alternative fuel resources such as compressed natural gas, diesel-electric and biodiesel. Special features of this video includes a wild downhill roller-coaster ride OUTSIDE the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), and a glance of downtown Eastside after dark, one of the worst neighborhoods in North America with major social issues such as poverty and use of drugs.
That is an absolutely brilliant sounding bus!!
Wow, this bus sounds very unique and cool! I love that bass it puts out when accelerating.
Btw, I rode this route the other day and it felt so weird, like extremely weird my friend.
Ninja Bus Fan Let me guess, weird because it was a C40LFR with an Arrison.
TheCRTman Actually I was on a D40LF ( P7420 ), if it were a C40LFR then I could somewhat imagine I was still on a C40LF :P
Ninja Bus Fan Oh whoops.
TheCRTman No worries, but yea a ISL D40LF felt so weird :/
I love how they drive with the interior lights off and they in service!
i love the scream on that Voith transmission
Voith transmission really sounds good with the C Gas plus engine!
They sure do man, like IMO these are the best sounding buses ever. Sigh, I sure do miss riding these bad boys back then in the days :/
Ninja Bus Fan C gas era is definitely coming to an end here, except we still have a few 2005's with C gas and ZF, as well as NCTD and their C40LF, but even they are planning on getting rid of them, but it will take longer as they have newer buses, and they will stage out their procurement, to ensure that buses meet the 12 year guideline.
Mike H It's so sad that you guys have to get rid of those buses very early, like we're still refurbishing buses from 2000. The ZF LF's are okay sounding but they're nothing compared to the B400R's. Makes sense.
Ninja Bus Fan Staggering deliveries, or what i meant by staging is also a way that the bus manufacturers can keep up with demand as companies like Gillig cannot deliver 350 buses per fiscal year, and so can't the yard. It is hard to resist Government money. Not all is lost, for used buses, as they sometimes live their lives doing Shuttle service in who knows where such as Universities, Parking lots, Theme Parks, Private operators, Limo buses, Charters and so on. Some private citizens can own buses, such as ea90744, as he owns a Flixible that used to belong to Trimet. I have ridden some of these on a Theme park and even when the Sprinter train was being replaced, but I was not as into buses as I am today.
Mike H So if the manufacture can't supply you with the order you made in a fiscal year, you gotta like keep on using your older buses ????? I don't get it. So people would buy used buses and use them for other purposes then ?
This bus has nuts. It really moves.
Damn that is the loudest Voith I've heard!
That engine is freakin awesome, I wish we had some buses here in NYC with these instead of our nasty ISBs
Fresno Area Express (FAX) in Fresno, CA has about 14 C40LF with C Gas Plus and Voith Transmission.
XN40 Channel (Mike H) They actually got about 10 C40LF's with the C Gas and Voith combo, same goes with their 15 C40LFR's.
Ein richtiger Ohrenschmaus. Da hört man auch schön die Power der Cummins Maschine. Das Getriebe zieht die Gänge auch sehr hoch, aber klingt schon klasse.
Holy shit!!! Now this is a good sounding bus!
This bus sounds soooo awesome, CUMMINS ENGINE FTW!
Holy crapYOUR RIGHT MAN THIS IS A GOOOD SOUNDING hell of a BUS
@Bakuneon Yeah, they come out once in a while, you just gotta get out to PoCo to see them. Or Coquitlam.
I never liked Voith boxes on buses , but this is awesome
Epic kickdowns on first gear, but doesn't have hub reduction??? is a small engine in it???

Awesome! Sounds like a Wright Commander with DAF chassis and Cummins ISBe 225 engine. =)
I also think the sound resembles a BMC Condor.
Nice Vid! I get the feeling that the retarder engages whenever the accelerator pedal is released as it seems about half way into the video, as bus is cruising, you hear the retarder kicking in several times.
2:34 oh my god what a song that bus is making
sooo are these from the Cummins ISC series since it uses C+ engine?
It this a euro_3 engine? It says 1998 which is when euro_2 was still in production.
do translink still keep these Voith transmission and Cummins C+ engine buses or are they replaced by allison transmission?
The livery is cool
160 Poco?
What Route is This on?
@newflyer3000 Does Translink still have any of these buses?
is this one of the C40LFs recently converted to diesel ???
What's the horsepower on it? Must be over 300 bhp
well this bus is old, the lighting plate is like ozidized, and plus newflyer3000 is sitting in the fron section of the back.
What happened around 1:55? The driver forgot to open the exit door LOL!
Is this engine simply the CNG version of the ISL290-ULSD?
cng version of the isc actually
Whose idea was it? I like the engine. Too bad they removed it.
if you went up to a NewFlyer bus like that, you would see all the lights for what the parts of the bus do, for example, when the driver pushes down the brakes with on the accelerator with his foot, an orange (well colours may vary in different cities/countries)small light bulb light will show up under the "Retarder Oil" word. It's "Retarder Oil"
well it's at night and the buses turn off the light as always in night.
just realised it's a retrofit engine.
BACK DOOR PLAWKS!!! xD
I like the retarder on the Voith
sorry i meant "Retarder On" not "Retarder Oil"
OMFG That scream !!! better than wmatas orion cngs
oops my bad, but i never heard of anything like a "retarder"...wat strange name to give it for such device.
brake noise.
