Very good fighter. If he was around today he'd probably get some sort of world title shot. No disgrace in losing to two of the best British fighters of all time in Laing and Honeyghan.

Rich this documentary brings back fond memories for me watching British boxing. Mittee was a good all round fighter and his interviews were so articulate, I didn’t know he was a social worker and later in life a poet. I still drive through Bethnal Green area now and again and I will always think of him from now on when I next drive through that put of London. I lived not to far from Hackney where Kirkland Laing resided. He walked past me once while I was standing at a bus stop, he was whistling away and seemed to have no care in the world. The welterweight division was great at that time, Colin Jones world class, Kirkland Laing was too, and Honeyghan caused one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Laing was a real character (Such a shame he is no longer with us), brilliant to watch but such an enigma. Thanks for this Rich, great memories.

Laing was a very good natural talent with very good punching power. Colin Jones once said that Laing s skill set was just as good as Milton McCrorys and Donald Curry. Now that’s a compliment and Laing did beat Duran 🥊

Brian, in Britain the fights were generally stopped much quicker. There was more of a sense of once it became one way traffic referees would call a halt.
It was also more common for trainers to stop fights between rounds to protect their fighter. Terry Lawless took this decision a few times with Mark Kaylor. There was a bit more humanity to the treatment of the fighters.
