I laughed for a full minute reading these written recipes. As I was listening I was just going with it thinking "Okay, yeah. This makes sense. A little amibuous, but I can just throw stuff together. Seeing in text made me realize they really didn't say anything! I'm definitely going to use the salad bag trick through.
My big bowl of salad two-cents would be adding a can of corn and another of black beans to one can of Hanover Black Bean Salsa, mixing it all up and pouring a big scoop of it over a bowl of a bagged lettuce mix--and refrigerating the rest of it for the next salad. And topping the salad with Ranch dressing. And maybe a toasted bagel on the side. And thanks for these vids, Phil--your list of dietary tips is excellent and you have the street cred for that, being all fit and fast with the stats and scenery to prove it.
Hi Phil, just wanted to thank you for giving me a 'light bulb' moment. I often fix a meal with the same basic ingredients, but starting with a complex carb and protein, then adding veggies. So much better to start with the veggies then add the other stuff! Simple switch, but a whole new mindset. Thanks.
'back in the day' I used to do exactly this. Big stainless mixing bowl full of spinach, a can of tuna, walnuts, cranberries, rice, oil and vinegar dressing. Tasty!
It's all great except for the processed dressing in the salad mix. 99% of the time they have at least one ingredient of death which hardly makes it a big bowl of health. You can always make a personal variation of a dressing which is both healthy and tastes good and will end up being cheaper in the long run. Have a nice day.
Phil your UA-cam videos are so rad. You have inspired me to go out and buy a road bike and start making videos myself. Next week im gonna try for my first century and post the cataclysm on the UA-cam. Cheers man, keep up the great videos!
Maybe try 35 or 50 miles first. If you're already comfortable throwing 40 down regularly, without much of a problem, then sure--go for it. Bike fit needs to be on point, as does your hydration and nutrition. You don't want it to be miserable and potentially harmful. That said, props to your gusto 😃
When I attended a dealer event held at Specialized headquarters last year, they had a huge buffet for us, and I made my own big bowl of health every day for lunch! It was great.
I do the same but I roasted some squash and bok Choi in olive oil and balsamic to add to the bowl. It was yummy. Also I have a hydroponic garden for all the green stuff.
My wife's best bowl recipe is sweet potatoes, avocado, black beans, and oranges. I think she got the recipe from Forks over Knives vegan cookbook. Living close to Africa now, we're using real yams because we can get them. When in East Asia, we used purple kachil yams and mandarins. Something about citrus with avocado, though, makes a perfect dressing for the starch and protein goodness of a tuber with a bean.
My go to is a “healthy wrap”. I literally just throw in some black bean, corn, salsa, protein of your choice, lettuce, spinach, and anything else your heart desires. As long as it’s “healthy”
Brilliant covid content! Few glasses of wine in, shorter temper with your partner (2.38 Emily eye-roll is priceless). Very relatable! It's like watching your own home dynamic from third person's perspective.
Man... So Epic... I realize I am doing pretty good... but still going WAY overboard. I need to tone it down and get back to basics. It is easy to let the calories run away with themselves!!!
Chickpeas, but they can be heavy on the stomach, but they are a superfood in my book. I have when been desperate mixed a big can of chickpeas with a Goya can of mixed vegetables (potatoes and green beans corn, and other stuff..) and the add a siracha sauce
Hmmm....hot food , wilted spinach! Love it steamed spinach, 1 crumbled boiled egg, 1 slice bacon crumbled 1/2 onion steam it in the pan. Add oil and vinegar and nom nom nom. 🤤
Nice. This is pretty much exactly How I lost weight and got fit. So easy, so tasty. Just one thing to add: a few delicious (Healthy) sauces go a long way. Find a few you like, and you’re set.
I do this with my lunches. I usually just buy a salad kit like you have, grill some chicken or salmon on Sunday and use it on top for the week. Super filling and good and nice and healthy. Dinner is harder with kids 😂
Bowl of vegetables and greens then after 3 days i'm sick of it and want something warm then a pot of vegetable soup with all the same players back and forth!
Watching 2016 Paris-Roubaix with commentary from Robbie McEwen. Robbie did not approve of the way #233 took a right-hander with 150km to go and washed out his front end. What the heck was that guy doing in Paris-Roubaix?
Adam Ragusea has a video that's spookily similar in philosophy to this. "Adam's diet food," check it out. More ideas for nutritional crap to be thrown into a bowl
Phil, I see you eat a lot of kale. You might want to switch to organically grown kale as conventional kale farming has one of the highest uses of pesticides in agriculture.

2:00 Emily comes with a nice glass of wine. Coping with Phil-- lockdown style!
where you been hiding her homeboy.

Amazing! Did Jamie Oliver already call for a collab???

Have u ever ridden 100 kms?
No hahaha and I'm on a $50 bike that may be a size to big. But I have heart ;)
Maybe try 35 or 50 miles first. If you're already comfortable throwing 40 down regularly, without much of a problem, then sure--go for it.

Did you make it?
Thanks for making me feel like I'm not the only one doing this!! Exactly how I eat! Great video.
Can I use pizza as my protein?
Christopher Brown It’s more carbs but I get you buddy ✌️
Just dump some greens on there.
When I attended a dealer event held at Specialized headquarters last year, they had a huge buffet for us, and I made my own big bowl of health every day for lunch! It was great.
A Cajon spice mix is fantastic over veggies then roast in the oven, basic but yum.
I do the same but I roasted some squash and bok Choi in olive oil and balsamic to add to the bowl. It was yummy. Also I have a hydroponic garden for all the green stuff.
Tan lined are on point Phil👌

"I sprout mung beans on a damp paper towel in my desk drawer...." If you know, you know.
Very nutritious but they smell like death.
King Creed!
"Distinct Old Man smell"
I love the big glass of Health - my wife does the same every night
A couple of fancy version of this are seared ahi tuna salad (tyler florence has a great version) and salad nicoise.
My go to is a “healthy wrap”. I literally just throw in some black bean, corn, salsa, protein of your choice, lettuce, spinach, and anything else your heart desires. As long as it’s “healthy”

Spices or seasonings, try curry's or chili powders, herbs. Oils & vinegers...Soy sauces (watch salt content) stir fly veggies with sesame oil
Man... So Epic... I realize I am doing pretty good... but still going WAY overboard. I need to tone it down and get back to basics. It is easy to let the calories run away with themselves!!!
A V O C A D O on EVERYTHING !
And cold pressed olive oil
At 1:32.... “... just pour shit in there...” Nice 👍 I can do that!
I think he said "portion it in there" but i like the way you think
I watched this yesterday afternoon and I've already eaten 2 premade Aldi salads.
Great information! I also love something hot on my salad!
When I tell people that I like big salads, this is exactly what I mean: just a bunch of the multi-colored healthy stuff from the produce section.
Chickpeas, but they can be heavy on the stomach, but they are a superfood in my book. I have when been desperate mixed a big can of chickpeas with a Goya can of mixed vegetables (potatoes and green beans corn, and other stuff..) and the add a siracha sauce

my salat sauce: whisk dijon mustard, lemon juice, sunflower oil, honey and salt with pepper! it is called Gold Sauce
I started putting crunch on my salad after watching this video AND IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.
I have the same tan lines 😁 Loving the content on this channel!
Yes, more stuff I can send my KOM coaching clients!
I do this with my lunches. I usually just buy a salad kit like you have, grill some chicken or salmon on Sunday and use it on top for the week. Super filling and good and nice and healthy. Dinner is harder with kids 😂
This is pretty much what I do also. Cold for lunch, hot for dinner.
My go too salad/slaw from TJ’s🙌🏽. Best of luck to Emily in this rating endeavor 😜
You should have made a bowl up to show us!
Bowl of vegetables and greens then after 3 days i'm sick of it and want something warm then a pot of vegetable soup with all the same players back and forth!
Quality stuff!
Healthfully helpful.
Bro. Gotta up your Christmas present game.

I like how it’s actually simple. I often see title claims of a simple food but turns out it’s not. Health bowl looks good.
Spices?
Was super funny lol

Phil, I see you eat a lot of kale. You might want to switch to organically grown kale as conventional kale farming has one of the highest uses of pesticides in agriculture.
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately i am not vegan, avoids carbs and eat differently to achieve the same results.
At least there was wine.
what kind of foods do you eat when you are riding a lot? i find my cycling and running performance can suffer without any carbs
cushcush i bring pacanes, they fill you + lots of water with salt. Salt feeds your cell for energy. Read the book Salt Fix.
I came to see who puts up with Phil :P
What is your favourite dressing?
Not sure if he said "portion in there" or "pour shit in there" at 1:30
Far better than the SAD diet (standard American diet), yet that doesn't mean its optimal. Nothing 'healthy' about oxalates, carbs, etc.
I watched this while eating Pepperoni pizza. Only 4.3 w/kg though. :/
Is that your little brother's T shirt?
You are a beautiful couple 🔝✌
Stick with her....she's one of the good ones :)
Doesn’t ride bikes tho :/
Doesn’t ride bikes tho :/

Bob Roll diet. Ride 100 miles. Eat a cheeseburger. Go to bed. Do it again. Every day for a week.
don't forget his amazing oatmeal and blueberries in the morning.
Channel gonna need more Emily obvs
I call bowlshit. We ate tacos like 2.5 years ago for dinner :)
So, you think it is really simple but it looks that your delicious salat takes Emily much more work, time and care than you could imagine LOL
She's a spice merchant :)
He'd be lost without her.
Thumbs down people must be vegancrossfitters
Where the carbs at???
Greens are carbs
