"I got into Wu Tang" is the best opening to any interview on any subject.
i thought the same exact thing when i clicked this video
true
Bro foreal. The ripple effect is still felt to this day.
@@sk69to96 and to this day too.
I thought the same thing
Awesome that he gives credit to the people who put him onto his fave records. Class!
I think its even more awesome that the la beat scene is blowing up so much
Jered Reid Yeah, most definitely. I thank Flylo for spearheading that whole movement.
NephirKore oh most def
O Kop
His passion for music is infectious. He could make me love an album without even listening to it.
The records he mentioned:
Les Mogol - Danses Et Rythems
Mario Molino - Fonit Library Record
Lucio Battisti - Il Nostro Cara Angelo
Klaus Weiss - Time Signals
Steve Halpern - Christening for Listening
The Feed-back - Ennio Morricone
Tullio de Piscopo - Suonando La Batteria Moderna
(sorry if spelling is bad)
sheff89 Thank you you beautiful person
The two records he shows behind Les Mogol:
Kalyanji-Anandji - Dharmatma
The Lijadu Sisters - Danger
His last comment is so true. When I pirate music I don't give it enough of a chance. It's so easy to get millions of songs, and you end up just skipping through your music like a speed demon, without giving it proper appreciation. But when you buy vinyl you feel more compelled to listen through the whole LP, rather than just 1 or 2 songs. And you're not just buying music, you're buying art that you can put on display. Digital music is convenient (and awesome), but it can't live up to physical media.
+kendo512 GLK knows and appreciates music and your description of his comment is something that I did missed in the interview, so I appreciate it that you brought it up because is simply "brilliant".
Very true, but rare vinyl is so fucking expensive!
kendo512 Well that's the challenge for music now and the listener.
Too
kendo512 so true man you took the words from my mouth and mind
You can sense his insanity mixed with inspiration when he molds you to his craft. True sign of a genius. He IS GENIUS.
The first second was enough to get my attention.
I believe he worked with Bus Driver, who is produced by Daddy Kev. DK lives in the same neighborhood, Mt Washington in Los Angeles.
5:41 edan's beauty and the beat is shown. an under-appreciated hip-hop classic...
Truly awesome album, especially if you like hip hop AND psych rock...
dammnnn thank you for reminding me of this one
This guy needs a reality show
Dude is probably the most fun person ever to be friends with. So crazy, so much energy, passion for music and what he does.
You guys NEED to do a Tarantino Crate Diggers! Would be the icing on the cake, make it happen!
yes, i always wanted to see what he has in his collection.
Thanks Mendle!
Love that he mentioned Breakbeat dance music hardly anyone mentions this, almost my whole record collection is breaks.
5:42 EDAN JOINT SPOTTED
Hey William, I remember you coming to our club in San Diego @ 12 with long ass dreds . . . I was always so impressed how you stayed in the moment and inspired all that were around you . . . Good to see you living your vision . . . Until we meet again . . .
Best episode so far. GLK is a genius. Great to see him looking healthy and recovered after that horrible accident a few months ago.
This is one of the best Crate Diggers - - Gaslamp energy is crazy too . Happy he is healthy and good .
FINALLY! A GOOD EPISODE WHERE HE ACTUALLY PUT THE VIEWERS ON TO SOME TRUE GEMS. THATS WHY I WATCH THIS - TO DISCOVER NEW MUSIC TO LISTEN TO!!! THANKS GLK!!!
Mentions R.A.W. at 8:53 . Those were some good ragga jungle tapes!
Nice shout to R.A.W. stateside jungle legend
Lots and Lots of background.Just plain Love for the music
One of my fav videos on YT. Got me into this guy's carzy mixes and planted the seed for me getting into obscure/instrumental/beat music and DJing myself.
He rocked in Los Angeles this weekend! I love you GLK!
Goosebump Killer. This guy is the real deal. Going to listen to everything from him now.
Teddy Bear's Picnic is one of the first records I remember from childhood - makes me warm just thinking of it!
This is one of the best interviews I've seen in a long time. Cheers!
This guy just made my day! Loved this chapter! Big up from Chile!
regarding his last comment I remember the first CD I was given and the first Vinyl that I bought, I have no recollection of the first MP3 that I downloaded.
"I Got into Wu-Tang"
Good start.
GLK and Buckethead would make an insane album.
Theo Dutra I don't know man... I am a fan of both but they are on completely different pages. GLK is into old school grooves and Buckethead is a guitar wizard. don't see how they'd mesh.
RedroomStudios They are both wizards. I could totally see it.
Theo Dutra ...but would the Earth be able to withstand the chaos that would ensue?
he already used buckethead on his We Make It Good mix, plus buckethead has so much stuff he’s made based around scratching that it’s not too far of a stretch
That Osanna LP served as soundtrack for Fernando di Leo's "Milano Calibro 9", but the LP misses the song that Barbara Bouchet dances to, scene that has been honored by Robert Rodriguez in Planet Terror (it's the Rose McGowan scene).
THis is the original watch?v=kuIULad0E6I
He may not have had any records because his stuff wasn't released on vinyl, which reminds me-Somebody who knows about these things please press up 'Metaphorical Music' on vinyl.
i always get goosebumps every time i explain music to people...
I could watch hours of GLK talking about music and rare records
"The Itch that you get buying records and getting into Records is so much more powerful than any MP3 collector can ever understand." quote.
whoa...that Piscopo record is the truth!!! WISH I owned that!!! HEAVY piece right there.
Magnetic personality.
This has become probably one of my favourite episodes of Crate Diggers thus far!
Donald is such an awesome name for a dog lol
yo that Alex delarge framed poster holy shit that is cool
Why doesn't he have any Italian records?
You humorous son-of-a-bitch.
What a cool guy
all hail da psych rock professor.
Man I could listen to him talk about music and artists all night.
one of the best episodes! such a humble person. hope he is well after the terrible accident! and i wanna see that dog!
Seen R.A.W. spin at Konkrete Jungle, BIG UP!
Great stuff
awesome!!
space echo for the win!
Peeped that La Planet Sauvage. Love that record. Overall, I love this series because you just see how passionate these guys are about the music they enjoy and almost every single one of them seem very open minded about life in general.
honestly not the biggest fan of his music which didn't apply to me at all but watching this, seeing him act and talk and sensing a kind of obsession lying within hin does help to see where he's coming from in what he does musically... more than in any other episode of this series so far
is this dude somehow part Italian? maybe thats why he loves italian records so much
Willie B from UC. Grew up with this dude, good to see he is still into music.
"i pay the morgage on that bitch so it's all good"
watching this set on half volume and this video on haf volume in 2 windowns..
The Gaslamp Killer - Live From My Living Room - Summer 2020
I can listen to this guys stories all day

Rather entertaining, 18min didn't blink.
The dog was telling him to stop spilling the sauce 💀
I was dying at that voice changer in the beginning 😂💀
I love the clockwork orange poster
Looooool-love this video
Yeah!
Haha! I had Teddy Bears Picnic too! Dope!!
top three best crate diggers episodes
"wbwbwbwbw -- holy MOSES!"
haha I kept playing that over and over cracking up
This man has no boundaries on his creativity.
Honest, open, transparent. Beautiful!
One of the best episodes ever here with GLK. He can teach DJ's and Producers a thing or two. Next level Ish!
This is the best youtube series I have ever come across
straight knowledge,., one of my favorite's
I'm sure, that the world would be a lot more joyous, if everybody had something to be so positively passionate about, as this guy is about music! Goosebumps, hehe.
big yourself up for bigging up RAW!!!!!!!!!!
Salah RAGAB and The Cairo Jazz Band !@4:17
Same way i started with a big volume knob and old stereo turntable.
that "fisher price" was the shit!! i did a set with one!!!
This is a beautiful story!!!
"Dillaaaaaaa...God I wish i coulda hung out wid that guy"
Great episode, pure passion.
clockwork 🧡
What a musician is SUPPOSED to be like. True inspiration. So sick of these people that pick up dj sets and hit the play button mindlessly and call themselves an artist. No background, no history, minimal love. Hope people start djing and producing for the love. Not the fame or money.
BTW glk experience is tomorrow in Los Angeles! Free event but donations are encouraged to pay for GLK's medical bills.
"these people" you just described DJ Khaled, and couldn't agree more
Got hip to him during sxsw when he played with Just Blaze. I was blown away...glad I found this! :3
Well this was a fucking treat. Thanks Fuse!
Love.Unity.Respect...what an awesome guy!
I so luv GLK's energy at all times. He is might actually be a bigger Dilla-Head than myself. Nah... But, if that's Dilla's moog he has in his setup, he wins. LOL. Crate Diggers is really becoming an all time fav on the tube for me. Once they get Madlib's, I'll be a happy man. Peace...
There is Those Shocking Shaking Days Record there
This dude is the definition of a music hippie. immersed in music
Watched this twice today - Plan on watching it twice tomorrow.
I love how everyone drops the 'Responsibibilty' part in PLURR.
Thanks Lee. Going to check them out right now.
Never heard of this dude before this episode. He definitely has my attention now!
My vinyl collection is just starting out really, but after listening to him talk about christening for listening I had to at least try and get it. To bad its £390 ( about 600 dollars) oh well!
bruh those library records are so hard to come by i have alot on digital. but i need them on vinyl i have about 5000 vinyl right now i wont by anymore until i am able to get my own house.
love this guy
I used to have that poster of Alex from Clockwork! I forgot all about it until I saw it here.
I watch this interview every week!
I can't concentrate on what he's saying because that KEYBOARD IS GOING TO FALL OVERRRR!!
