In today’s video, I’m showing my one day trip to Uji city where is located the southern of Kyoto prefecture.
Uji is famous for green tea, designed world heritage Byodoin temple, and the place was set of the world’s first novel, The tale of Genji.
Addition to that, you could just relax, enjoying walking around.
You should add Uji for your Kyoto itinerary for sure.

Thank you for this video. I never thought of visiting Uji. Since I will be arriving in Kyoto early morning in November, it definitely makes sense to do a 1/2 day trip before hotel check in in the afternoon...I love green tea and matcha!

If you’re also green tea lover, Uji is the perfect spot. As you said, half day is kinda enough to explore and enjoy matcha dessert.
If you have a chance, please try the matcha parfait I tried in this video.
It was really amazing.
November will be the best season for gourmet and autumn leaves.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a enough time to visit other temples and shrines in Uji.
I looked up and they seem quite nice and popular to visit in Uji.
