This blew my mind when I first heard it in the last boss. Specially when he did Leg Sweep to me and all the pieces just clicked together
Same thought, i was already thinking it was HIM when i saw him in the streets walking towards the last bunker and this was just the confirmation for me. I wonder where he got the snake tho
@@julius596 He had the snake in the OG too, it was pretty hard to see though.
He wears no mask.

Original Pulse and Anxiety: "You are either fighting an unknowable god, a little girl who is transforming into a god against her will, or Griffith."

I WANT THIS TWINK OBLITERATED
The first Pulse and Anxiety sounded like nothing you recognised, sounds and ambience that fully convey the sheer gap between you & the gods. It was designed to terrify and make you panic.
This song? It's designed to remind you that you've done this more than enough in Funger 1, you've brought down many gods and this is just a rematch. The drums aren't alien or eldritch, they're one of the most simple instruments in all of history. Among all mammals, there is no instrument more base than a drum.
And there's a lot of them.
This isn't a song to terrify you.
It's to show you how far you've come, above every odd against you.
It's not the soundtrack of the gods, it's the soundtrack of gods being defeated.
What? Did I miss the defeat? Cause you don't win, it's not even close lol
@@HowIin New Gods probably, Old Gods never die of course, at best they get re-absorbed into another Ascended God, as we saw with God of the Depths becoming the basis for God of Fear and Hunger
In my humble opinion I think the drum was associated with the primitiveness of mankind or something. In many occasions the drum was involved as a morale booster in violent situations such as wars or battles so I think the drum could possibly be a symbol of violence of mankind too. And violence is what humans are so familiar with since it was with them since the ancient times. Even the most civilized gentleman can resort to barbaric violence when fear enough, angry enough or hopeless enough.
@@kladius8045 Exactly, because in humanity there is nothing more simple, humble and base as the drum as an instrument.
It's the instrument most associated with humans.
@@miscellaneousmedia3753 Yeah, this was my point!
It's crazy how you can turn the auditory equivalent of a panic-induced heart attack into a pulse-pounding combat track with nothing but a set of tribal drums and some context.
It's like instead of your heart beating because youre scared. your heart is pounding with adrenaline to whoop baby bastards ass
I was pretty sure I figured out who *that man* was when I saw it.
There was simply no doubt possible once I got to the part where this played 🐍
Facts. I was like, "IS THAT F**KING LE'GARDE?!"

Pulse and anxiety 2:
after 2:33 this song just becomes such a banger like I was listening to some underground band that hasn't made it big yet, it's so good

You should try listening to vessel - red sex

this song genuinely doubles my heart rate whenever i hear it even outside the game
It literally is pulse and anxiety
A friend of mine compared this track with the previous one saying: "these new drums feel like they are added the same way as you are riding Yoshi in Mario Sunshine", and I cannot unhear it now lmao
Very cool nonetheless!
The original drums in Yoshi ridin' come from Super Mario World. Tracks add a drumming background while you are on a Yoshi.

Along with Levi doing that maw of a scream that courage always makes (Probably after seeing flayed Kaiser)
i just finished this game, i couldnt stop freaking out when this song played.
i wanted to also say your work has inspired me to continue pursuing making my own game in rpg maker. ive been very invested in the lore and narrative of what youve made and it makes me want to strive to tell my stories too. much love.

damn, that jazzy, serene ending tho. 10/10
Literal chills when this boss fight starts. Such an amazing feeling when your suspicious are confirmed purely in the power of song. That is fantastic storytelling through sound-design. Honestly these games are works of art.
Exactly. Both the image of him in battle and the theme made me go, "IT'S LE'GARDE!!!"
the 1st song sounded like you would be fighting off enemies.
the 2nd one sounds like you'd be fucking dancing with them.
I love it.
ONCE MORE, WITH STYLE
Oh god *not a second time*
The King in Yellow is one of my favourite lovecraft-esque books and I LOVE what you did with the concepts in these games. One thing I'm curious about: is Ma'habre also inspired by the city of Carcosa? I can make connections, but as Carcosa is as mysterious as it can get, I still wanted to ask.
The King in Yellow came out when Lovecraft was 5 years old. It inspired him, not the other way around.
@@PainocusOh, I didn't know that! Always tought that Chambers came after Lovecraft. Thanks for the correction!
@@unfairdani I would highly recommend reading "Supernatural Horror in Literature", probably his most famous essay, so you can actually make statements about Lovecraft with some authority.

I love when thing goes "BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAM BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM" and then goes "brrrrrrr... Brrrrrrr... Brrrrrrr..."
I have to ask: how did you create that blairing synth? Was there a plugin you used, and if so, for what software?
they made it by having some talented individual go *_BWAAAAOOOOOOOUUUUGGHHHHH_* into the microphone and edited to be even cooler
source: trust me bro
I was curious as well so I did some research and here's what i've discovered, it must contain at least some of the following
1. A tuba playing F
2. I also hear some hints of a horn playing the same F
Hypothetically this could get you the raspiness of the sound but it would still feel hollow and miss that power, so in addition i would presume there to be a synth as well indeed, perhaps with a pulse wave in combination with a saw wave, tho primarily expressing the pulse wave. However, I also tested it out in FL and 2 horns, 2 tubas and the pulse and saw wave seem like a pretty good approximation to get in 15 minutes.
As for the effects i believe it should be compressed to really tighten up the sound and then distorted carefully to really instill that sense of being overwhelmed as a listener.
I still consider myself to be an amateur at this so correct me if i've made a mistake please.
Fard
@@bubkins3013im so proud of you for that

Is The Yellow King a reference to True Detective S1 ?
No, it's a reference to the same thing True Detective was referencing to. The story "The King in Yellow" by Robert W. Chambers.

Super cool theme too bad i killed Kaiser in 2 turns-
How
I think I prefer the original Pulse and Anxiety. The original basically screams “You F’d up.” This one doesn’t hit the same.
Yeah, i feel its because in Termina you are toe to toe against him, specially that hes more of a deteriorated state
The first one is Terror and this second one is epic
The first one is meant to terrify, whilst this one feels more... motivating, and a lot less alien. I'm pretty sure that's intended. The strength of the gods has faded quite a bit in the time between the two games, and this song feels like it sort of visualises that change in power dynamic.
Wait this weirdly feels similar to team fortress 2 music in meet the scout ?
Why?
@@senkopost2 look at "meet the scout" idk why but it just reminds me of that music
@@jonathanjoestar9317 that's make sense for me
So it's not just me who has TF2 brainrot.
The original is better in pretty much every aspect. This doesn't feel nerve-wracking and panic inducing like you HAVE to run like it did when the giant Minotaur is crawling down the meat hallway. It just sounds like something that would play in a Black Panther movie action scene. I guess its similar to the series as a whole, where the original game was amazing for the grotesquely beautiful parts and general vibe and the second one is fine but mostly lackluster for more general audiences. I hope theres eventually a F&H 3 that can return to the roots of depravity and mystery the first game held.
Ah bad news then, there will be a new F&H game down the line for sure, but it's going to be something entirely different again. Life is too short to keep making the same games over and over, it's much more interesting (from dev perspective) to try and pursue different vibes and aesthetics. I know it's not what some want to hear, but just a heads up... :-/
@@fearhunger3983 You love to hear it
It doesn't sound like a marvel movie. You're just sad it isn't the exact same track again.
What kind of marvel movies are you watching?
@@fearhunger3983 I'm sure a lot of people want something different, and frankly, I do too. You've made some great games. Although I do hope the hardcore aspect of these games remain a constant :)
Ngl, I think the drums are mid and kinda ruin the vibe of the encounter. That ending section was pretty cool though.
I have oppositional opinions
