- Hi everyone! This was the first time I saw my tests results and I was SHOCKED to say the least...
I will be retaking the test with a different company as I feel this might be incorrect. My family has been living in Sudan for CENTURIES and the fact that there wasn't even 1% sudanese , doesn't sound right.
let me know what you think

That actually makes a lot of sense. Somalia used to be apart of the Kingdom of Punt. Ancient Egyptians and Nubians referred to Punt as Ta-netjer, or "God's land." They were always traveling to Ancient Somalia and Djibouti for worship and to trade. A lot of people from the Horn migrated to the Nile.
Other way around , Somalis migrated from the Ethiopian Nile through out the horn and north

She may not have any significant Somali ancestry. Myheritage the dna testing company is renown for their very poor reference sample database, especially for Africans. They only have about 6 ethnicities which they categorize all people of African descent. She should use Ancestry DNA, which can be much more specific, that has a larger reference sample database.

There's Cushitic tribes like the Beja in Sudan so maybe your results says Somali because they have a very similar DNA to the Beja tribe. I'm not saying it's a fact but it could be a possibility.

Salaam. I recently took a My Heritage DNA test. My mother is Sudanese. I had no Sudanese ancestry on my test as well. I had Kenyan, Ethiopian Jewish, Somali, and Middle Eastern. When I was a child I took the 23 and me DNA test which accurately identified my Sudanese ancestry. I would recommend you take the 23 and me test to get more accurate results.
Yes that’s true! Only found out after completing the test but will definitely be redoing it

Sudanese got Cushitic DNA. Somalis are Cushitic too. So that's why it gives you Somali DNA. Sudanese Arabs and Nubians got around 30% of something that is similar to Somalis, and it is quite represented in Bejas and other groups like Eritreans and Ethiopians. But that type of DNA is highest among Somalis. Horn of Africans that speak Cushitic originally come from the Nile Valley, so there is no wonder you share that DNA.
Not only that, Somalis live in Sudan as sudanese. And got Somali tripes, they know their origin as Somali, but not saying as they live in Sudan and Chad.
Proto cushitics originate from lower nubia and upper Egypt, the Beja still live in Sudan and Eritrea, so not surprised the connection, but seems to be this is recent ancestor, Somali are shown to be related to the Savana pastrol neolitic which was period between 5,500 - 3,500 years ago, looks like proto cushitics started moving south about 8,500 -10,000 years ago.

Hun what's your background in Sudan? Ethnic background, tribe etc? If you're from the Northern region, just know that it is a place that went through a lot of changes historically and Sudan has a very rich history of being influenced by other countries in the region. It's just a taboo subject because most like to think that they are distinct from other Africans, when we're really not, and we are very mixed. Another thing is the Somali part, again if you are Nubian or have Nubian blood you will obviously share DNA with Somalis because they are also Cushitic people. Hope this explains everything.
When you say cushitic people has no same DNA each one has their own percentage of Haplo group but example E3b1 somalis has 85% rather than Ethiopia who has only 55% that's why somali picked specifically

Sudan is a country home to multiple ethnicities. Are they even able to make a “sudanese” category? Somali is just an ethnic group that lives in Eastern Africa. You can still be nationally Sudanese and ethnically something else. Its like being nationally American but ethnically Ethiopian. Thats just the nature of people moving around.
So yes, you are still Sudanese nationally but ethnically a mix of things. Thats East Africa for you. Most ethnicities are mixes of even more ancient ethnicities. Even Somalis are a mix of African and Eurasian ancestors from 30-40, 000 years ago (or rather ancestors who crossed over then came back depending on how you look at it). There arent many “pure” ancient ethnicities because human mix around. Its just easier to create new ethnicities in areas that border different groups.
@Kay2Real I never said that. I am explaining the difference between ethnicity and nationality.

Somali researchers literally confirmed this. The average Somali has 30-40% Eurasian ancestry. Somalis haven’t really mixed much since then which is why they stayed a specific mix.

Haplogroup is showing your Bloodline, there may or may not be anything there. If they have DNA of any famous person of History, you may be related to them through your Bloodline. A Guy where I used to work his Paternal Haplogroup, stated that he was from the Bloodline of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. I got a double shock with my Maternal and Paternal Haplogroup’s. My Maternal Haplogroup Bloodline is Marie Antoinette,Queen of France, Wife of Louis XVI King of France. My Paternal Haplogroup Bloodline is Pharaoh Ramses III.

Welcome sister from djibouti
Hello sister, welcome
So you have dna from almost every continent - Africa, Europe, Asia, (South) America and Oceanian! That’s really cool!
And I think a lot of people with lots of different ethnicities do have some Finnish - I think it is because of either Finnish people coming everywhere by ship or because of a lot of ships took the shipping route via Arctic Ocean, somehow.
And concerning Sudan, Somalia etc.: I found a lot of people from Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea and I think also South Egypt, (North) Sudan and partly Northern Kenya look kinda similar, so there might be some similar dna, which of course makes sense, geographically.
But not sure how accurate all of this is. 😄
go and do test again on an other one you will find the difference ... the problem is they dont have Sudanese DNA data base
28% a lot beautiful mansha'Allah

They are all from the great kush Empire after the kush Empire, we spreated and formed different countries, but in general, we belong to the same genetics group.
It's true you have Somali blood, During the WW2 a lot of /SomaliBritish soldiers were taken to settle in Sudan ( Gadaariff) after the war and they inter married with the Sudanis and other Africans from West Africa and Middle East and North Africa.

@@Yeswecan787 Sudaan Yaa zool?. Wallahi I took my best time in Sudan. Good people with beans (fool) and Aisida. That was ayaam Numeri. Now this Hemeti Animal with shaytan al arab UAE destroyed my Sudan. I was in Kadararif.....Khartoum, khatroum bahri. Haji Yusuf. wad madni. wahid wa ishriin Port Sudan etc. Where r ya sister or brother now?
Exactly why when i looked at you i thought you looked more like an American Black girl or a diasporan than a Sudanese, well from what I know of the many Sudanese ive encountered. I wouldn't be surprised if one of your ancestors was a returnee from south America. Thats probably where you get your south american indigenous and west African ancestry from. Unlike what most sources try to portray quite a few people actually returned to Africa. But that doesn't make you not sudanese. You're still sudanese because Sudan is a country of many different tribes, and racial groups.
