I once saw him leave 3 tracks playing in time, stroll over to the bar, get himself a large whiskey, stroll back towards the booth across the dancefloor, giving out handshakes and fist bumps along the way, stand outside the booth continuing to dish out fist bumps then look over at the decks, reenter the booth and perform his next mix flawlessly. The man is total class. 😎 💔 🏡🎵 🎶
I once seen him leave 4 tracks running and he went home for dinner...came back with full belly giving it fist bumps, best fried chicken he ever had!!...fucking love the guy 🤪😂
I believe every word of this. Pure class.
I was there. It was a 3 course meal aswell
@@chriscross7357 once saw him leave 5 tracks playing. Got into his Lexus drove it thru the car wash across the street. Came back in dancing from outside the street giving high fives. Dude is legend.
🎉
Derrick Carter's touch on the decks is pure magic. The soulful grooves, the impeccable track selection, and that signature Chicago house vibe... it's all here. Boiler Room sessions always deliver, but this one? It's a masterclass. Anyone else feel like they've been transported to a dancefloor in Sao Paulo with every beat?
Derrick Carter, Derrick May, Kerri Chandler, Frankie Knuckles, Moodymann, et. al., thank you for the sounds that you have inspired around the world. One love.
Don't forget DJ Andres, Delano Smith, Robert Hood (Floorplan)
@@andrewveto Don't forget BOO, Paul Johnson, Miles Maeda, Mike Steele, Heather, Mark Grant, Iz & Diz, Sneak, Bear Who, Collette and all of Super Jane.
There was once a club in Los Angeles called the HORIZON.That was many years ago.But OMG did Mr Carter take me back.THIS IS REAL HOUSE 💯.❤
he's still the best. I'm so blessed to live in Chicago and to have been able to see him spin as many times as I have, and many times in venues only holding a couple hundred people. Last I saw Mark Farina spin a 7 hour straight set. Not many can ever get to say that.
Johnny Matteis I hate you 😩
Go to movement aka "demf" (Detroit) & chosen few fests. All the techno & house music one can handle. Chosen few is straight old school Chicago house all day on the south side! Movement is all house & techno for audiophiles.
Just saw the man himself at Spybar! Extremely underrated but absolutely amazing!
Eugene underrated?
I was lucky enough to see Derrick & Mark play several times in the early 90s in both L.A. & San Fran. Dancing to these luminaries at events where they played along side djs like Doc Martin, Steve Loria, Jeno, Garth and DJ Spun really had an impact on my life.
1:02:20 how is it possibile nobody talking about this moment. One of the greatest drop ever. If not the greatest ❤
Cos it's not the EDM drop
I grew up with him. Thats my guy. We're from the same neighborhood. A true genius . He's been a leader in this game since the early 80s. The best thing he ever did was move to the UK. I kick myself in the ass everyday for not going with him...but I'm proud of him. I will see you when I get there bro. Respect Chicago . Maywood baby!!!
Whats your name?
Bro I'm from the Woods too, living in Texas now, Proviso E. Class of 95, worked at White Way,best friends of Shoney, and Bronson Bass, used to spin some at the Rec,Chat's,and the A&P. Wut up fam.
We love him here in Glasgow. He plays here regularly. I'm glad he moved here too. ;-)
Yeah a lot of the big early American house and DJs did, good career move for DJs, scene is so much bigger, better and more fun in Europe, dance music is in our blood over here, in the US it’s more of a social media, fake show off type thing.
@@emersonsimmo90 fake news, states has a scene. It’s just not as big.
Awww man Derrick carter is the goat!!! How these people aren’t going nuts dancing is beyond me. I’m only 24 but trust me when I was in my early teens I’d sneak out my house and go to Pilsen for the underground house parties and maaaaaaaaan did I fall in love with house music and the culture around it! Now I’m old enough and hardly ever hear djs spin this at the bars/clubs...it’s sad cause this is fire!!!
It's sad because it's Chicago, it's from here still comes from here and there's no go to places anymore.
I'd be like an hippo in there...taking no prisoners! Nobody does it like L Carter!
Even as an older House Head/ Raver I totally agree.
Because the lighting is like a department store. Switch the lights off, turn the strobe on, and pump the room with smoke. Then you'll see the dancefloor erupt
Bring the Afro Brazilians in there and they will be rocking
this set is proof that 1. quality house music is still being produced and 2. derrick carter is still the man!!!!!!!!!! banging set which makes me wish i was 25 years younger and dancing like no-one is watching.
75% of these tracks are classics, live mash-ups or unreleased DC edits, definitely not new.
Nuno S . lol. never said all the tunes were new, i still have a few of them which i bought 20 plus years ago. this set was produced and put on youtube very recently and still does it for me.
Has always rocked it and always will..D.C.....guaranteed funk!
Doesn't matter about your age you can still dance like no one's watching. I do all the time, life is there to enjoy.
Age doesn't matter friends. He made me dance on august 3 in Genk Belgium, many thx AFF crew
Damn, I have literally watched this set like 25 times and I can never get enough of it! Boiler Room, you need to invite DC again, the true Chicago house legend himself! F@ck this is so good!
São Paulo simply is the best place in the world. Way beyond underrated. Moved there from Berlin and after living in London, NY, Madrid. Nothing compares to São Paulo ❤️
as a native i would agree with you but i cant because i never been in london, ny or madrid before, you welcome my friend!
Londoners would appreciate Derick more and dance
Love this moment 37:00! I'm not a DJ so I don't know what exactly happened, if it was on purpose or an accident, but it showed his humorous side and that he is having fun.[
Accident, he was messing with the track selection knobs on the CDJ to his right which was the one currently playing and I guess he stopped the current playing track by accident. Lucky for him he still had the previous song playing on loop in the other CDJ and you can see he immediately pushes that fader on the mixer all the way up to save it.
@@javierferrer9028 a true professional, knowing instinctively what happened and how to recover
he is so damn good. you can always tell when it's him playing too. he just drives that beat throughout like no one else.
DC, Sneak and Farina are my religious belief, I'm the only member...all I ask is you listen to beats...big up!
BROADVIEW'S OWN DERRICK CARTER! PURE SMOKIN!!
Sat and chatted w/him after one of his AMAZING sets at an after hours party. What an authentic, upbeat, kind soul. Also, I don't think I've ever danced that hard in my life.
If you love house you love Derrick Carter. If you don't love Derrick Carter you don't love house
La messe est dite: Amen !
OUI
Word!
pas faux, biquette
@Cesar Sandoval tranlsation : mass has been said . ;)
Amen!
Shazam is failing me on this killer set! They need to employ more House Heads on the engineering team at Shazam!
Mostly re-edits
Acapella vocals over original tracks that's why
Well , I get your point, but u do realize engineers create algorithms that dectect tracks in the most general sense based on data. Not people who listens to a lot of music and labels tracks.
Thats precisely where reinforcement learning may come in handy-which i'm sure they haven't necessarily ignored.
Maybe I'm old and "oldschool" but the beauty of being a DJ is having tracks nobody else does.
This guy has played in my Afterhours living room,! The Best!!!
That security guard, ain’t no one testing him 🤣🤣🤣
You got to have a man on deck to keep an eye out ..He sets the bar for the vibe ,lets say someone have a good time zoned out and bumps his equipment...😳.When Mr 1 man army is not present..folks keep pressing closer.. they're not trying to be malicious there there partying but when you have security standing right there the party will be flawless
Man... He was BIG!!!.. 🦍.... Good tunes... 😁
28.00-32.00......crowd looking like they have forgotten they're being filmed. That's a good thing.
CONFESSION TIME this is the first I've heard Derrick Carter and what a surprisingly brilliant DJ
he's unfcnbelivable
Nice huh! So damn Naughty...
It's never too late to meet a Jedi Knight of House
He is the GOAT
Welcome! Pure Chicago House.
Wow just wow! Found this set, listened to half of it, fell in love, and found out that Derrick Carter was performing the next day at Spybar in Chicago, and obviously I was there! Awesome set that made me want to finish the rest of this video at 5am.
And at Spybar he added an extra deck or two also. He's good like that.
YASSSS!!! I love when that happens!
I know Derrick well. I have been knowing him since 1987-88 when he worked at Imports Ect record shop on Plymouth St. In Chicago way before he became a super producer and world class dj. He's a cool cat and very approachable.
I first saw Derrick in 1996 in Cream (Liverpool). The back room, which was small dark room with a cracking system. Back then Technics 1210 were the weapon of choice.... lol. The older generation DJ’s learnt their craft on vinyl!
The Callaway Kid , i reckon the same year. warehouse in leeds, then again a couple of years later at back to basics. my weekends are just not the same these days!
from back in the day indeed, still love clubbing as I’m currently in Sonar (Barcelona) going to see Tony Humphries tonight! It is harder these days tho
I went to that gig! Good times indeed
Cream annexe, what a club, went to a body and soul that was only in the annexe
Derrick was very instrumental in the Chicago house scene in the early days of the second wave. I used to go to Gramaphone on Thursdays to buy records every week while he worked there. His knowledge of the scene was second to none.
The one who mixed the future sounds of Cajual vol.2, with the 2 glenn underground in intro. (a listening tips ^^) Maybe I was 13/14 years old at this time. The slap! --> 38yo now
A Legend on the decks..I saw him spin 4 turntables at once in Austin, TX at the SkyBar. Epic....
The best DJ in the game IMO
That's Epic
The one, the only, the legend - Derrick Carter. Don't get no funkier than this!
Soulful Jackin' Legend! Chicago and Detroit really have some excellent house music.
1:13:25, 1:14:03 amazing technique using loops and equalizer. Derrick Master
10:00 - GgDex & Nice and Slow - This is America
If anyone caught what the essence of house is it’s that girl at 23:40-
Chicago all day all nite ❤
brilliant. true statement." if you don't like Derrick Carter You don't like House Music"
DC is a beast on the decks.
Remember seeing him at back to basics Leeds . Fantastic. House legend
23:51 love this fade away! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Damn, he's still got it!! Watching Mr Carter do his thing makes me appreciate the lost art of quality house.
And I love the girl 1:15:30 with her id / subconscious coming to the surface. Totally liberated... or just on drugs, lol!!!
Bunch of other people mix it quite allright. My respect. Nice. Then enter Mr. Derrick Carter. Like doing his eggs on a Sunday morning. All it ever meant to be. God, I love you so much.
He pools it off so smooth when he loads a track into the wrong player and the music stops. It happens to the best of us no worries.
his face ajaahah thats a true dj right there
what a legend
those feels haha
:D the best!
does anyone know where those vocals are from?
“This is America “
Track … well at least we something to proud of . Thanks Derrick
i'm gonna call this session "dammnnnnnnn derrick!" the vibe is right.
See, you do not need to touch the EQs every two seconds people ;-) DC has unmatched technical skills - if you can get to see him play you will not be disappointed. Man concentrates on his craft not waving his arms about.
Love this set. Derrick is such a legend. Its so good .......everyone forgot their addiction to filming everything on their shitty phones
Such a funky crowd as well!
Absolutely brilliant
Just booked to see Mr Carter and Ms Dijon in May in XOYO London. I'm sheeting myself with anticipation.
Saw Honey in tiny venue in Brighton few weeks ago and Ibiza, was truly amazed by her talent and her happiness. Have yearned to see DC for a good while. I will be honoured in the presence of a legend xxx
just saw this monthlong residency, so jealous not to be living in london
this is really helping get through yet another lockdown in Montreal. All hail Derrick Carter!
Feeling that brother, same here right now in the UK
Look like its over now :)
Absolutely JACKED THE SHIZZLE out of this venue... As per usual... MR D. C.. CANT GO WRONG WITH SUCH AN ESTEEMED DJ AT THE HELM OF A CLUB FULL OF HOUSEHEADS WHO WANT TO BE CARRIED AWAY... LEARNING ABOUT DISCO ROOTS.. FUNK, RAG TIME, ACID VIBES AND THAT CHI TOWN BOOM FLAVOUR..... .BIG LOVE TO DERRICK. OH YEAH
By far... the best house mix of 2018!!! Thanks for posting.
28:41 How he can stay so quiet while and the same time, he giving on the people so many crazy émotions..😢😮??!!!!
🫡👍👍🫡🔥
Seen him spin live in Berlin a week ago and wow, game changer
YOOOO I HAVE LITTERLY LISTENED AND WATCHED THIS MASTERPIECE

59:30 digging the acid
I'm a DJ from New York and this my first time listening to him and his set is FIRE!!!!
first time listen Derrick Carter??? WoW
@@omarsonico I was just thinking the same thing...
Ever come to Chicago u might catch him at one of these clubs hes fuckin sick
Are you fukin serious bro?????
How have I never heard this dj before , this set is naughty !!!
It's funk, it's soul, it's disco, it's house, it's acid, it's Chicago, it's.... DERRICK!!
Thank God Boiler Room employed more camera angles, realizing that most of the world is not interested in watching the 'privileged' head-nodding fools in the dj booth. Side or overhead angle of the DJ & his hands, & more dancing crowd shots is what's most important. Someone at Ballantine's probably deserves credit
I revisited this today. Dishes, Donuts and Derrick.
I love you
Absolutely great moment at 28:15. Fantastic crowd, superb set. I miss moments like those.
Love him. Love him now. Lol. Chicago loves his dj style. I rockz with him because his blends make u get up and move you bunz. Heyyyyyyyyu. Lol🤗🤗🤗🤗
Chicago Love
so does Melb Australia. The set he played NYE year 2000 at 7 was insane. i broke my phone!
Hahah everyone has their own story going in crowd
Imagine going to an event after lock down and Its D Carter all night long!!!!
Brilliant set . Proper jackin' house music .
This guy is from the classics house players! Chicago style! !!!
If you love house you love Derrick Carter. If you don't love Derrick Carter you don't love house. TRUTH!!!!
A Boiler Room with people dancing??? The audacity! Brazil Represent!
"This Is America" - THANK YOU MR. CARTER
37:07 I have had this happen twice during live sets... never had the reaction that DC had LOL
A devout techno head for the last 25 years, Derrick Carter is still one of my fave DJs :)
THIS IS AMERICA.
Esse dia foi louco!
it was mashup or remix?
Mashup
Denis Rodin tune is ggDex - Nice And Slow
the beat behind the lyric!
Its was the simple acapella!
Chicago Jackin House!!!!!
44:23 sound guy screwed the pouch with the #4 deck to #3 input. lol. way to maintain your cool Mr. Carter. No-look finger swap
This man is reliable as the Beatles when he comes to delivering hits.
I have seen him, and Dave Clark, have an argument over a crossover that was not 'industry standard". Wild times 😄
His mix with Cardi B is DOPE!!!!
THIS IS HARD I HAVE LISTENED TO IT SO FAR 2 WEEKS STRAIT MIN 3 TIMES ADAY..ITS SO FRESH AND SO PERFECT.THE BLEND OF MUSIC IS FLAWLESS YOU GOT DANCE..SMART MAN HAVING SECURITY POSTED KEEPING THEM A BEY SO THE PERFECTION CAN FLOW🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The mashups at 10:00 on up were so perfect! Like they shouldve been done like that from the start👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Track after childish gambino is called Broke Funk by DJ Lulu

this guy should be playing in festivals to thousands! this is house.
He's still the most BAD-ASS house music DJ!!!
Tremendous. Even the girl on her phone all the time couldn't buzzkill this one
True but still annoying, get rid of the phone and enjoy it! get outta here otherwise
dudes been no.1 for a looooong time. was lucky enough to spend a night behind the decks with Derrick in Edinburgh. mind you, that wasn't yesterday
Still using the old deep house methods, tunes of like today how it evolved into more house . I like it . Dope set .
I heard this man on Awakeningsfestival in the Netherlands. This is great.
really, true Chicago sound!)
From Moscow with Love!
He's still the best. Period.
Ive never done this in a club but after seeing The Best do this - 37:05 - if i do, i wont feel half as bad... :D
Why this happens? I mean what he did wrong?
@@LolOpinion He chose another track on the cdj which was live. usb equivalent to ejecting a cd or taking the needle off the wrong record..
@@cekikimix tks bro!
The sound is so powerful!!! omg gREAT MUSIC !!!!!!!
Whoa, electro-swing! at 43:00

good catch!! i missed that!
THIS IS WHAT REAL CHICAGO DJAYS LOOK LIKE NO TIME FOR DANCING AND CLOWNING. ALWAYS WORKING NO RECORDED SETS AND JUMPING AROUND
i MISS SEEING DERICK AND MARK
