I fail to see how this is sadder than the one we got. I cried when Woody left the gang and the whole "To Infinity and Beyond". I always felt Woody and Buzz shared a stronger connection in the 4 movies then Woody and Bo in the first 2 films. Bo was barely a character in the first 2 movies. Much more emotional seeing Buzz and Woody break apart then it would've been with this ending.
Not to mention this ending contradicts Bo's whole reimagined character in the film. She moved on from being just a childs play thing and now at the end she decides to be what she moved on from? Also would this ending come after the ending we got? So Woody leaves Buzz and the gang to go with Bo then right after that Bo sees this new girl and leaves Woody by himself? Seems like a real cruel thing to do to Woody.
I see literally 0 reasons for Woody not to try and go with Bo if this is after the canon ending

This ending is random and is out of context of the actual character. Like she wanted woody to be free all this time, meaning if she left him for the kid it would show that she was just jealous the entire time that no one wanted her as a toy.

to be fair based on how rough the animation is and I dont think those are the real voices so this probably would've be built up too more if they went with it

@@jenniferhartlaub6613 i think you didn't get the ending. I felt the same way the first time. But unlike toy story 3, this one was a more human lesson. Do you stick to your old beliefs if they no longer make you happy just because you're stubborn about it? Additionally he doesn't really throw away his beliefs. Woody does not make Bonnie happy. And for the first time Woody realize there are other ways to make children happy like in the case of Gabby Gabby

Still think that while the movie was great and the ending was just fine, Toy Story 3 ended perfectly.
In its defense if we were to look at the series as a singular thing I feel like 3 would be the climax but 4 is just like the falling action, resolving and slightly expanding upon the ending threads of 3

Honestly, I’m glad this they cut this ending because It kinda destroys the lesson of the film. That, and it would feel like it could end the franchise like what we’ve seen before with the other films. Personally, I really enjoyed the movie. Sure it may not be for everyone, but it still justified it reason for existing.
Part of me wish they kept it, to make Woody realize he made a mistake in staying

@@aigeneratedwauigi2696 the toys don’t need a kid to have a sense of purpose. Woody’s reliance on his owner left him feeling unfulfilled in the beginning, sitting in a dusty closet. Bo shows him that it’s possible for lost toys not only to survive, but to flourish and be happy as well. You can still carry your past relationships with you without relying on getting the same exact experience again, because you’ll never get it. Idk if I’d say this ending “destroys” that lesson - Gabby and Forky learn similar lessons about expectations while still ending up with a child - but it would be jarring to deliver the point through Bo specifically and then have Bo herself decide to be with a kid again

This deconstructs everything that had been established in the franchise until then. So this lesson is rubbish. That's the lesson: Convince a young man going to college to give you his toy childhood favorite against your will only for you to later not even realize it exists
i do like the lines "i want you to know, im yours, and i always will be. and im yours, sheriff." but in general i think i prefer the ending we got.
If this would mean Woody is with the Gang again it's fine! The real ending is too heartbreaking. Woody sacrified everything for his friends and especially Buzz. Instead of going with Andy who was Woodys whole world he decided to stay with them. And now he leaves them all.
Woody realised there more to being a kids toy. Woody going back to bonnie woulda been Woody wouldn’t be cared about anymore or played with. At least with bo she cared for him
@@randolph4767 yeah but the whole reason Andy gave him to her was because despite Woody being a gift from his dead father, he still felt like it was better for his favorite toy to go to a child that would play with him to the fullest, rather than having him sit on a shelf in a college dorm.
Toy Story 4 spits on all that, and makes Andy's sacrifice mean nothing and ruins the emotional ending of 3. This movie just shows that Woody would have been better off with Andy all along, and being given to Bonnie was a mistake.

Looking back on the past movies, Woody as the protagonist, already did many things for his friends even though most of the time they don't believe him at something he says as the truth. In this movie, it's time he follows his inner voice after not being with Bo for 9 years. There's nothing better for him to do if Bonnie shows no interest in him anymore regardless how Andy emotionally left him and the rest of them for Bonnie.

You got it wrong. This is an alternate version of the story. In this draft, Woody is found by Bonnie without his voice box and she still accepts him and he reunites with his friends in the RV. Read the title next time

Glad this wasn't the ending. Woody left his friends behind and then Bo just decide to be the toy of another kid and leave woody all alone? That would basically be a big middle finger to the fans. I'm glad they went with the original ending that made me bawl tears of happiness.
No, Woody actually goes back to Bonnie. It was just cut from this deleted scene. Bonnie finds Woody again at the carnival and says "My cowboy!"

@@sircrazygamingph2058 Apparently, the reason the directors removed the deleted scene was because "there was no growth in woody." since Woody ends up going right back to Bonnie just as Bo Peep leaves. Though this deleted scene wouldn't pose the issue of Andy wondering where the hell Woody went after returning from College.
Glad this wasn’t the ending they went with. Feels too out of nowhere. Bo suddenly decides to be a toy again, and finds that same girl who rejected Gabby. Not to mention, while the actual ending got tears in my eyes (as, spoiler alert, Pixar broke up the duo that put them on the map), this one leaves my eyes dry.
It's a very true. It get me tears for the *longgg time* best buddy the Duo's friendhood.
I will miss them on next episode, as you said, glad this was not the ending for the

Plus, according to director Josh Cooley, nothing is changed for Woody. Felt like a reset. In addition, it probably wouldn’t have left me in tears.
This turns out to be gabby's character ending though. But I'm glad they sticked with the original.

Underrated Opinion: This should of been in the film.
I'm happy with the ending we got; but I do wish they kept the line saying they belonged to each other.
This would make me cry as much as the original ending. This movie is easily one of my favorites of all time, and it keeps on giving.

I do agree with that especially when the couple had so much (well, quite a bit) of a relationship together in the first 2 films. Of course, Bo wasn't really that much of a highlighted character in the first two films but I appreciate looking at small details where she comforts Woody and communicates with him. She was there whenever Woody wanted to talk or to get along with. She always has that special place for Woody in her heart.
Both of them love each other and I felt the pain where Bo was separated from the gang. I love Toy Story 4, such a great story. Hoping that they'll have more of a short film than Lamp Life that shows us the adventure of Bo and Woody, or maybe a film for them as Lost Toys. And at the same time, a movie which Buzz leads the gang and yeah, another great film to come.
This is a WAY better ending.
This makes more sense than having a spoon basically replacing the original gang.
I was expecting end credits , a young boy to show up and play at the fair when there were no toys left, win the game because of bo peep and woody being great amd loving. Boy starts being sad when he didnt receive one because no toys left , then woody lets himself as a sacrifice be taken. The boys parents come around the corner with cotton candy asking how he did at the game (or something of that manner). Parents are proud...especially his father who reminisce's at the similar looking toy he had growing up aswell.

This ending makes no sense the whole movie she was telling woody that he doesn’t need to belong to anybody and the whole reason why he didn’t go with them was because of her and she leaves him for a kid that doesn’t make any sense

I actually like this scene better as the ending because at least it's not "hurr durr I'mma leave all of the friends I've known for 20 years because i want to play house with Bo". I'd rather have Bo find another kid and Woody going back with the gang rather than having the unsatisfactory empty ending we got
it really needs more context, is the kid look like andy sister or something? the beginning its already establish that bo is trying to let woody go of andy and that there always other toys for the owner if you aren't their favorite.

Literally just finished watching this movie for the first time lol Thanks for this video IGN! Unpopular opinion, I actually would have preferred this ending over Woody being split from Buzz and the gang
Everyone commenting how this ending isn't nearly as emotional as the original one and that it feels random, out of place. But what everyone hasn't understood yet is that the whole story would've been slightly, if not significantly, different from what we got. The lines "Everyone is with a kid" and "The girl from the store, she is the one" imply there would've been an alternative plot, since none of those lines seem to match the original movie at all.
Idk about "random," but this ending certainly contradicts Bo's established character in the film. That is, an independent toy that prefers the wonders of eternal freedom rather than being temporarily subjugated by a child until they render you disposable following a period of growth.

That's just more cruel more then anything. Woody left everyone behind because he knew he would be happier with Bo then trying to hope Bonnie still gave him attention. To just leave with Bo only for Bo to leave him would just make it pointless. Might as well have him walk all the way back to Bonnie's at that point.

No, THIS is how you end Toy Story 4.
Basically, having Woody convince Bo Peep to come back with him and his friends so that she could be Bonnie’s new toy, basically similar to what happens to Jessie and Bullseye in TS2, but, Bo Peep doesn’t want to leave her lifestyle as a “lost toy”, so she objects at first, but then seeing that Woody and his friends are a family who sticks together as one, and that she loves Woody (except not in the actual TS4 since she mistreated him throughout the movie in an out of character turn of events), she decides to come back with him and leave the dangerous world behind.
Or, she could stick to her lifestyle and leave Woody, but at least he gets to be with his friends again, and Bonnie will still be able to play with him whenever she wants.
This ending would've gone to infinity and beyond reason.

I honestly don’t understand everyone saying this ending is rushed or forced, when the one we actually got was even (worst) more forced and messed up Woody's character moral, and all the character development we got from him and the franchise itself in the last 3 movies. This ending is not perfect, but it totally feels WAY more loyal to Toy Story.

Without context from a plot that implemented this ending, this does seem really random.
The movie, if I remember, tells us that Woody was made around the 1950s, if that's true then that would mean Woody is almost 70 years old, which makes sense since in Toys Story 2 Woody and his merchindise were basically collectors items . If that's true then he has been doing the whole toy thing for a very long time, longer than any other toy that Andy/Bonnie had (except maybe Jessie and Bullseye). The ending that Toy Story 4 had was bascially Woody retiring with Bo and traveling the world together, so when you look at it like that it's less sad.

Aside from that one emotional, romantic line, I still the way the movie actually ended is better than this.
It was an alternate draft of the story. In this version of the story, the little girl was a recurring character who’d come in and out of the antique store that Bo noticed. Bo peep was still in the antique store because she joined a group of rare antique porcelain dolls (hence why she’s wearing a dress).
If only Gabby didn't existed and Woody still had his voice box. This Movie isn't Canon also to everyone.

This would have complete destroyed the message of the movie. The entire point was Woody finding his purpose and his own self of belonging without needing a child to need him. He found that through Bo proving to him that toys don’t need a child to be happy. After all that, for Bo to go off with a child would just leave the movie with no message or theme at all and 0 character development for Woody.

This would’ve ruined not only the entire message of the movie, but also Woody’s entire character arc. Woody’s arc was about learning to do what makes him happy and not just living to please everyone else (namely whatever kid owns him), and have a sense of value just by living his own life and not for a kid. The point of Woody and Bo being happy together in the end was the cherry on top of his perfect character arc, because he was finally doing something that was FOR HIM. Having her leave would just ruin that and defeat Woody’s entire new mindset that toys don’t NEED kids to be happy.

I would not want this to be the ending but what I assumed while watching it is Woody left the other toys to spend life with Bo and then she finds a kid leaving Woody entirely alone.
I thought Toy Story is a film about friendship, that's why I was so pissed off with Toy Story 4 ending. But Toy Story will always be my favorite movie IP in the world.

Buzz was supportive of woody for doing whatever he felt was right, so if Woody wanted to stay with the love of his life, Buzz was happy for him to do that. I think that this is a great lesson into how much real friends should care about each other, even if it means losing them. Pretty deep haha
I heard that toy story 4 was gonna be depressing and while it was extremely obvious that woody would dip I was thinking like most characters would burn to death or something
