    Such truth!! The Holy Spirit convicted me of this and now I take a step back before I get too excited about something new and shiny.

    Bang on! Totally agree with all your points! I will be going into our 5th year of homeschooling my youngest son and I feel like we are finally finding our footing and I am not so swayed by the general public opinion about what I use or don't use. I have backed off from social media (and youtube) completely as I am honestly tired of the "curriculum bashing" that curriculum companies and their various supporters have against each other. I have my small group of you-tubers I subscribe to and they are my first go-to's when I'm looking for curriculum :) It's really too bad that this even happens. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but keeping reviews objective about what did or didn't work for their family I find much more helpful than criticizing people who use it or make it . :P With that, I am definitely an eclectic homeschooler and piece materials from various companies that work for my son.

      It took us a few years to really find what works. I’m like you. I only watch a few homeschool moms on UA-cam.
      I have really backed away from a lot of social media too. Everyone is so negative and so ready to bash someone else. I appreciate you always watching my channel❤️

      @@HomeSweetHomeschoolLife you’re welcome :) a lot of what has worked or is working for your son also works for mine which is very cool…. We are just a few years back as he’s 10. :)

    I like to watch youtube videos to learn about what curriculum is out there. I write them down and then start weeding them out! Its hard to not want all of the beautiful shiny curriculum! 😆

    This is why I love your channel. I love how honest you are. When I first started homeschooling it was hard to tell on how people acted when they promoted the curriculum that they “used”. I had to watch closely I started to ask myself are they being honest or being paid? I loved that you shared all these things.

    Girl, I truly appreciate your video and agree with all of it! I’ve been going through “affiliate fatigue” and had to scale back and get really picky who I watch due to it. With that said, I’m looking forward to seeing your plan for next year 😂🎉

    Such a timely video!!! I was just watching another channel on their curriculum picks and it had me feeling like I needed to look into and consider switching for the upcoming school year. That would be crazy of me after finally finding a groove and what works after a few years of trial and errors lol. Thank you for the reminder and constant honesty ❤️🙏🏻.

    Still sitting on the fence about Made2Homeschool as I'm not sure how many of the lives and sessions I can actually make it to :P What time zone are most of the events held in? Are replays of the live chats available? If you want to try the group out but not commit to an annual membership just yet, is that an option? I have signed up to groups in the past and found I only used them a handful of times as many of the meet ups were in person and I don't live close enough to many major centres, or the same country for that matter :P

      @HomeSweetHomeschoolLife 7 місяців тому +1

      I believe they are usually eastern time. If you have a premium membership, you can watch replays of the live workshops.

    You have great advice. Thank you! It was only recently that I realized some ladies are paid to flip through curriculum they have never used and do not plan to use. I think UA-cam has really changed for the homeschool mom community recently.
    I fully support moms trying to earn income. I do prefer and appreciate honesty and being upfront about whether or not someone has used or is planning on using something….or if they are just fulfilling their contractual agreement. I even saw one mom’s UA-cam video on the company’s website as a testimonial…for a curriculum she has never used. I think that’s bad on the part of the company and the mom. I’m thankful you are making people aware because many of us tend to be trusting and assume people are advertising what they love.

    • @HomeSweetHomeschoolLife
      @HomeSweetHomeschoolLife 7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! That is ridiculous that the mom is on the company’s page. It just isn’t honest if you haven’t really used the curriculum.

    Do you have tips to encourage your child to be a self starter in the morning & as a parent to let go a bit.
    My child is not a self starter but I do hover to much and allow her to do it. & I’m struggling. She’s 13 about to turn 14
    Any advice will be helpfully
    She does have ADHD and Dyslexia… not sure if those play into it. But thought I mention it.

      The one thing that really helped my son was the Bucket System by Sage Family. I have a video about it.
      We don’t use it anymore because it all became such a habit. He has really matured over the last two years. I wasn’t sure if we were ever going to see any progress.
