    Thank you so much I certainly will try this trick with the lemons. I live in Spain and have a huge lemon tree right outside my house. I normally throw all the kitchen waste near the tree not meat of course. Sometimes the donkeys manure and the tree is always laden with lemons all year round. Every day the tree gets a banana skin and sometimes egg shells.

    I have used this before but not for the same reason. I have well water with a high PH so I use lemon juice to bring it back down to the ideal range for whatever application. It has made a huge difference in my plants, no more micronutrient deficiencies and I guess I been giving them vitamin C without realizing it. My kids make fun of me for making lemonade for the plants, but it works perfectly so far. 2 years into doing it with no problems.

      I also use fish pond water to water my plants. Balance is key when rotating water in and out of the pond. The beneficial bacteria in a pond is essential to the fishes health. Too frequent or too large of a water change can cause serious issues. For this reason I can only give my plants fish water on occasion. Cheers!

    • @plantabundance

      Thank you! Just looking to live a healthy and happy life :) Any inline water filter made to remove chlorine will work. I found they tend to reduce water flow from the hose and are quite expensive to replace. It's also hard to know when they stop being effective. I prefer treating large batches of water and using a sump pump to disperse it throughout the garden. With that being said, I sometimes use the water straight out of the tap. My watering is not perfect. Just want to show others how it can be done. Cheers!

    • @plantabundance
      @plantabundance  3 роки тому +7

      Thank you Annette. This is in fact a good question. Too much of a good thing is usually not really a good thing at all. Whether it's too much water, fertilizer or even an overly abundant fruit set, balance is key. If you stick to the ratio of 1 tbsp of citrus juice per 1 gallon of water as mentioned in the video you will have effectively neutralized the chlorine or chloramine bond at the correct dilution rate without acidifying the water which could be detrimental to both the plant and soil health. I tested the water after treating it with vit c / ascorbic acid using a ph test strip and got a reading of "7" which is neutral on the ph scale. In conclusion, this is a safe and natural way to declorinate tap water making it healthier for the soil life while supplying the plants with a little extra nutrition essential for abundant growth.

    • @westaussieeggs8867
      @westaussieeggs8867 3 роки тому +3

      @@leighboschen7554 Leigh, as you stated it lowers pH which means gets more acidic not alkaline which means over 7 pH (pH is on the scale of 1-12, 7 being neutral, 1-6 acidic, 8-12 alkaline). Do a pH test on the sample of soil, can be a bucket of soil if you wish, do it before and after application, you will see the results straight away, However if you do not have lithmus paper at hand get a hydragenia with pink flowers, water it with lemon water, I bet after a while they will turn blue indicating that the soil they are growing in turns on the acidic side. Addition of vinegar (commercial vin around 2.7pH) lowers pH . It is basic chemistry one learned at school.
      Happy gardening by the way with lots of warm wishes from the other side of the world.

    I imagine the water's pH is lowered a little bit too. In my municipality, tap water is treated to be a pH of about 8 this isn't ideal because soil nutrients are't fully dissolved in water that alkaline and over time could lead to nutrient deficiencies in the plants because they can't access as much food as they need. I find about 1ml cider vinegar to 2L tap water brings the pH down from 8 to around 6.5ish which is in the ideal range. I haven't ever tried lemon juice but will because i often forget to fill my water bucket until I need to water.

      Too bad you lost some plants. It happens. The chlorine has a use case but is not ideal for the garden. The good news is that it is easily neutralized / removed. Chloramines are much harder to dissipate than chlorine alone. Try the vitamin C trick if your crunched for time. Cheers!

    When you’re putting the epsom salt in the hole a funnel would be helpful.

    Can you use the peels from citrus to make the same benefit? Does it matter if the peel is organic? I know they spray lots of fungicides and other chemicals on citrus fruits along with wax to preserve them for market. What planting zone are you in?

      Thank you! Yes, lime juice has a slightly lower amount of vit c so I would add in a couple extra drops. Cheers!

    Quick question-can you use the bottled lemon juice instead of fresh?

    • @plantabundance
      @plantabundance  2 роки тому +1

      Actually, no. Bottled lemon juice is typically pasteurized causing the degradation of vitamin c aka ascorbic acid.

    Hello dear friend
    We are Amazon sellers, and now we have a new type of solar fountain. Because it is a new product, we need a publicity to make more people aware of it. We are currently looking for the right person. After watching your video, we really like the style of the video you posted, so we found you.
    Looking forward to your reply.

    Peace Be Unto You,
    I have about a kitchen size garbage bag of citrus fruit peels. Do you have any suggestions on how best to use them in my garden?

    • @lucypearlmorgan3115
      @lucypearlmorgan3115 3 роки тому +6

      Hey saw you response, so here are some suggestions: (1) put your peels in water and allow to marinate for a while...like if you making compost tea, (2) compost them, they make your compost smell wonderful everytime you turn it, (3) before planting, bury them in containers or beds and allow mother nature to do her thing. Hope this helps

      Thank you! I'll have to get back to you on that one. I just throw my citrus peels on the food forest floor. It's a great way to collect woodlice aka pillbugs. They gather under the peels in large groups for easy removal. Cheers!

    Do you have suggestions for those of us who water using soaker hoses attached to our water supply? I did this so I could stop carrying water in milk jugs and watering cans. My back does not want me to revert. Thanks!!!
