Ghost notes man!!! David was a beast! Fieldy’s percussive bass is icing on top of that funk groove. They’ve lost those elements what made them so special
Their first two albums were recorded here! After “Take A Look in the Mirror” I tuned out, that was their last good album. I fuck with the 1990s-early 2000s Korn
Ray is so "technically" good that it almost seems sterile. I don't mean that in a bad way, but the rawness that David provided in terms of not perfect tempo and creativity just made Korn just sound so different and so interesting.
Theres is no doubt David Was creative drummer cause I'll say give this man some credit he paid his dues for this band to make groovy instrumental tracks . Ray knows very well and he probably admires David for what he brought to the main front of this band. The 90s and early 2000 were ahead of the Prime years of korn
I dont get how you guys find ray a good drummer nowadays, he butchers the OG songs, he used to be good in remember who you are but since his drumming has been mid at best.
I hope those cymbals paid David whatever money they owned him and learned their lesson… In all seriousness, dudes just an amazing drummer and despite the drama, KoRn was just never the same without him. Ray’s a great drummer, but he’s not David Silveria. A lot of those early songs had so many rests, pauses, slow downs, and off time syncopated beats that it gave a very distinctive uneasy feeling that went so well with the creepy licks and slap bass and unhinged, deranged lyrics. They were just an absolute groove machine that would go from ripping your face off with heavy, mosh pit worthy slamming riffs to big soaring, almost pipe organ sounding chords to jamming needles into your ear drums with wacky screeches and squeals and hip hop beats. A lot of imitators came after and KoRn somehow got labeled the god fathers of nu-metal or whatever, but I don’t think there was or is anything quite like KoRn before or since.
I’m assuming what they mean is that Dave didn’t take the proper precautions to play safely and in the long run it affected his body. Even back in 97 they were canceling shows because Dave was developing cysts from his playing. Because of this he just can’t play like he used to
You telling me what Ray is more technical than David? So why so many drummer speak that David's grooves made the most influence for them? David's was the most technical musician in this band!
By the same album 5Xs, you mean Issues? Cuz that's how it felt for me. I never cared for issues besides a few songs and theyve only done a handful since that I've liked, but every song on the first 2 albums are insane, follow the lead is great, not life changing tho.
@@karlthunderaxe seriously? Untouchables sounded a lot different than their previous albums. Take a look in the mirror and see you on the other side are closer to their previous albums but still have their own thing.
We can say for a long time that David was a super drummer. He really was. But his virtuoso, creative playing gradually degraded with each album. But I have the greatest respect for his drumming. An incredible creativity and groove.
Back when the drums could actually be heard. I struggle to hear the drums on the last albums, especially The Nothing. Why the fuck does Ray have all those plates around him now, he doesn't even use them
David is much more influenced by jazz drummers than Ray. Ray has more of a heavy metal/thrash style. David's drumming is what makes me loves early Korn also the fact that Jon Davis wasn't using pitch correction on his vocals like he does nowadays.
It has the vibe that he just got a new camera and wants to try out and show off all the cool stuff he can do. For that I can’t fault him, it’s got an innocent feel to it, but I agree, it’s pretty annoying lol
David is Korn, I remember buying their 2007 album and it just wasn't the same, I had to re-check to see if it was Korn, because it sounded so different, they haven't been the same sense. Those first 2 albums where glorious.
David’s style - heavy when needed and laid back breakbeat grooves. The best - can’t stand watching Ray over play on everything like he’s the only ever drummer to exist in korn
Damn. Dave can get down on some drums! I didn’t know Korn existed in 1996, the rap and r an b of that year was just the best and I would have gladly jammed Korn if I knew they existed. I heard Indigo Ranch Studios is now a Sober living environment
@@misschicka2831 look at any interview with JD. He didn't want Ray to play exactly like David. Yes David was great back then. See if David can play these songs now? He can't. His new band is ok but his beats are not like these. Even before he left the band he was messing up all the time. Look any live concerts in 05-06. He couldn't do it
I hate how that it seems the only available footage like this, the camera operator decided to try and channel Steven Spielberg. Can someone invent time travel already so I tell them to just try and capture the session.
Can we all agree that Life Is Peachy was the best album for David’s Drumming
There’s something about David’s drumming that just gets me going. A groove master for sure. His snare had such good pop to it.
Amen
exactly that, korns drum and bass was where it was at back in the day. fucking awesome
Piccolo snares man. They are what is missing from modern music.
Now, this is "THE" KOrN drummer. PERIOD.

I saw Korn play live for the first time a few months after this. Fun times being young and care-free in the late 90's.
Right their wit you on that bro. Caught Korn for the first time back in 99 on the Rock is Dead tour. Some of the best fucking times of my life.
Ray just can't play like David Silveria. David is an awesome drummer.
David's playing gave the band a sound. When he left, that sound was gone.
All of the OG members made this band what it is and was. No Korn without David. I still love drumming with headphones to the early stuff
Not replaceable
David is so unthinkably deep in the pocket, that to this day, despite rescue teams’ best efforts, he still has not been found.
His new band is called “Breaking in a Sequence”.
1000% Dave was the man. Rays chops are very artificial Very thenical Bravo. But it doesn’t have the oouff. We need Phill Rudd style less is more Bro
Davo was such a beast on drums and one of the best groove drummers in metal. Korn lost their sound after he was removed.
