St. George Island State Park | Florida's Forgotten Coast

- One of the most beautiful places on Florida's Forgotten Coast is St. George Island. Though the small community is awesome, our adventure was in the state park, with 9 miles of undeveloped, uncrowded beaches with the best shelling we've ever found; followed by a hike through the campground and to the bay, with lots of birds to see. This is a winter adventure, so no swimming on this visit!

Wonderful Park! I could spend all the day in there, it is so beautiful! Like 3
It really is! Thanks!
Awesome footage!!! Beautiful place.
It IS beautiful! Thank you!
You gents keep warm down there!!
That's why went there 🤣 Rock on!
Great looking beach. Have never been to that section of Florida. 😎👍
If you get the chance, it's a worthy area! St. George Island, St. Joseph Peninsula, and Wakulla Springs are all amazing places. Of course, they are all amazing places to us! Especially this time of year, with gray skies and cold temps here in Indiana, LOL!
@@SlonesWildernessExpeditions oh I can imagine that the scenery is a definite change from Indiana. I will look into those places for sure. We are baby stepping our way into exploring further and further away. I’m loving it. Can’t speak for everyone involved 😂🤣
@@PFAM5 LOL! Keep doing what you do my friend.
Great video guys. And that footage of little Catfish seeing the gulf for the first time 😁 Awesome stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it! We love exploring anything different than Indiana, LOL.
Nice beach!! Awww, little Catfish! 💗 Lots of cool birds! Love those campsites! Great adventure, guys!! 😀👍
Thanks so much!
@@SlonesWildernessExpeditions You are welcome!! ;-)
Excellent footage of the eagle! Video kinda warmed me up a bit since it was 19 degrees here this morning and a few inches of the white stuff on the ground. Great video.
Yeah I'm wishing I was down there now, it's in the 20s here in Indiana (though no white stuff!)
This area is amazing! We generally go to the white sand beaches west of here. The campground there is so private - the sites weren’t on top of each other and had some trees and brush separating them. The primitive sites right in the bay were nice too!
That whole coast is amazing, but we prefer the less crowded areas with the old Florida feel (and not so many tourist traps!) Another awesome area down there that we did NOT visit this time, is St. Joseph Peninsula (with the small community of Cape San Blas.) They are great places to vacation if you want to get away from the crowds & traffic, but still within driving distance of those places.

We need to check this area out next time down that way!!!
that is a beautiful place. I really enjoyed the beach and then that back country site was very nice as well. And the eagle. Just awesome! The campground looked really nice too.
It's a lot more fun when it's warm enough to get in the water! I'd still prefer the mountains, but we do like experiencing all types of places.
I agree with you guys that it looks like Gilligan's Island. One of my sisters is a "ginger".
Ginger's are beautiful! As is this island, thanks for watching.
That campsite by the water would be an incredible place to camp!
Yes it would!
Very beautiful island! Thank you for sharing! Greetings from Switzerland!
Thanks for watching! I would love to visit Switzerland someday.
Seems like you guys found a hidden secret over there!!! Not much people at all and cool that was the first place Catfish has been. I usually agree with Catfish about Bigfoot and Aliens - but no way to 🐊. You are right, it is like Gilligan’s Island. Thanks for showing us a new place to us.
Every experience we've had with alligators, they are completely docile! Just laying around in the sun, much like the tourists! 🤣 Really, we just like seeing anything different than what the Midwest offers. From a distance, at least! Rock on!
Nicely done! I was the first park ranger to work there, (1978-1998) and you and Catfish saw and described a couple of the gems of the park. Thanks for sharing
That is awesome! I envy you. This was our 4th or 5th time visiting there (camped there the first time) and is still our favorite Florida state park.
Thank you guys for the tour. Felt like I was there with you. The photo gallery at the end was fantastic!
Glad you enjoyed it! Catfish has really gotten into photography, it's one of the main reasons we did the quick trip to the panhandle. Not much to photograph in Indiana right now!
We just left SGI yesterday and I love that place. Loved the video and the pics that Catfish shared.. great job Catfish! I did not get to go to the park this time but after watching your video, I will make sure to go next time. Thanks for the tour and stay warm. :)
It is amazing! We like the seclusion of the state park beach, and what a beautiful little community on that island, love it.
I sure forgot about it. Forgot that it even existed until my fiance mentioned it. Went there as a kid. Haven't been in about 15 years. Will be taking my son at the end of the month hopefully
That's cool! I bet it's mostly the same as you remember it, it has a real "old Florida" vibe. Have fun!
It’s not all that .... looks like Canada with a lake and pine trees , great video for father n son, just I was not thrilled with saint islann
Ha, so Canada's lakes look like the ocean? Interesting. To each their own, rock on!
