Remember that people who sell mystery packs are usually doing so to make a profit, you will probably not get your value back for what you’re spending
That is every business they are in it to make a profit. Pokerev, MJHoldings, various card shops, Leonhart are no different (though there are varying levels of scummy or quality).
Danny phantom does not make them to make money. You get your value worth or more
@@nelsonrico1921- very true. Danny already made money on the price appreciation of the packs. Buy and hold booster boxes, let them appreciate in prices, don’t markup the pack values, and sell tons of them to produce small profits. Add them all up and they add up. Look at how Walmart does it’s business model. Not to mention, he also gets cost distributor prices on his products, as he is a LCS (online). Danny’s mystery pack model is better and fair compared to all the others out there.

That's definitely not a good price point. At that price you might as well get yourself an ETB, or some other equivalent priced product.
Can you pull a base set pack from that ETB? No. Okay I’ll buy the pokerev packs.

Of those vintage packs, they can be from Wizards of the Coast, Diamond and Pearl, HGSS, and Platinum. There are 15 sets from Wizards and 15 sets from the other three eras combined.
The odds aren't listed, so we'll be generous and assume the eras and sets are perfectly balanced between each other. 1/25 to get a vintage, times 1/2 to get Wizards, times 1/15 to get a base set booster is 1/750, or a 0.13% chance. At those odds, you'd have to buy 533 PokeRev packs for even a 50% chance of getting one base set.
Even if you argue that any vintage set is a hit, 1/25 is a 4% chance. That's 17 PokeRev packs for a 50% chance of getting a vintage.
At $50 per pack, these odds are nowhere near worth it. As Jake pointed out in the video, vintage sets - even base set at $310 - are way cheaper in comparison.
Lmao just buy a base set pack… you may spend thousands and never get a vintage pack from the mystery packs.

@@CatBack94 he is nothing but hot takes. His whole judgement of how good a set is is entirely based off his experience opening a few boxes. If he has good luck, he likes the set. If he has bad luck he hates it. He also claims to not care too much about the monetary value of the cards, yet he's constantly talking about how much the cards are worth and he always values the more expensive cards.
Can't stand mystery packs. It's just like playing the lottery. I think these would be a fair deal at $35 or so, but the idea of someone effectively creating a lottery system where they're the recipient of the people's poor judgment and mathematical skills kind of makes me sick and is borderline scam-like. Just like how the government makes billions of dollars off the backs of the poorest 20% of citizens with the actual lottery.

I've bought these before and I've gotten higher then green in mine. I can say these are probably the only truly seeded mystery packs
I bought a bunch of PokeRev packs at two different times. The second time I got lucky and got a gold pack with a first edition fossil pack. It's definitely not good value if you're ending up with green or most red packs. But if you do get good vintage packs, they're not resealed/weighed/tampered with

Well that is the nature of the game, the same way most $5 packs you open will be cards totaling up to like 50 cents of value. I do agree that more modern packs should at least be included. I feel like if you “lose”, you shouldn’t get screwed. Getting 6 modern packs for $50 is getting screwed, and the business goal should be to make the people who win big get hype off the pulls to buy more or recommend you and that the people who don’t win big can at LEAST get their moneys worth. The packs themselves are enough of a gamble
I've gotten some pretty good luck with Rev packs. Got a Plasma Freeze pack from my last one.
Poketubers who does these mystery packs are just the slimmest individuals in my opinion
Love the dialogue at the beginning lmao. It's truth. Those big creators are in a relationship with Pokémon. The hobby continues and thrives then so does their pocketbook
Pokerev is one of the most transparent and honest poketuber there is. 50$, youre buying the chance of getting a vintage pack. if you dont get one, then its fine. they also need to profit. If you want your value back get a lot of modern packs with your 50$. But where's the fun in that?

My buddy ordered 3 and hit two gold tier. Both had a light fossil pack but still cool
I bought the original wave of these packs a year or 2 ago on Rev's stream and they were $40 each I believe. Got lucky and got a gold pack with a Jungle pack inside. Ended up being a Scyther non holo. Even though I got lucky I would never buy these again. Not worth the money and the risk when I can enjoy opening double the packs or more for the same price. Solid critique Jake!
The problem with doing a "mystery pack" is sticking with MSRP cost is basically impossible if they want to make any money what so ever.
Custom packing, shipping, labor, etc...
All of that has to be wrapped into the price including the cost of the "mega hits" which if he's including 1st edition base, that cost is spread throughout all the bags. I don't feel it's fair to judge purely off cost.
It's obviously a gamble, where else are you going to have trusted packs ( not all light packs in the bag ), and you have a chance at a banger pack ( that is also not weighed ). Your final thoughts are on point, like if your buying into his packs you understand EXACTLY what your getting at a minimum...you also understand what you have a chance to get is way above the cost of $50-55.
Obviously people like it since it sells out basically immediately.
Danny phantom 7 packs 27.99, low end sun and moon as your last pack min, 1/25 for wotc etc as your last pack so 6 swsh/sv packs and something bit better as your last. They sell out when he does them and doesn’t make money on them. That’s a content creator looking after fan base.

I bought one once and didn't really get much, but in terms of reliability, I do think his stuff is better than the god-awful MJ Holdings stuff. Definitely a gamble, personally I'd stick to singles unless I was feeling particularly adventurous.

Personally, I couldn't careless about PokeRev, but definitely something to pick up if you have a lot of disposable income, something that not everyone has, especially in this current state of the economy. But since it comes with Evolving Skies, there's always still that chance to double or triple your value even if you don't score an expensive vintage pack.
It's gambling, if you go to a casino in Las Vegas expecting to win then you're gunna have a bad time. If you expect to lose, and have the money to play around with, then you're paying for the experience. My kid enjoys Rev and has a blast with these, so I typically pick up some for the experience together. However if prices keep rising, probably will stop.

Mystery packs are not meant to be worth it. It's a GAMBLE and everyone who buys one of these should know that.
$50 for these is nuts. 5 SS or S&V packs are, on the high side, $3 each (booster box pricing) so $15 at distributor pricing so with the other $35 you can buy multiple of any of the green or red bonus packs but for $50 plus a little bit extra you can guarantee a B&W era pack by just buying it yourself.
That goes for almost all pokemon products though. Wasted tons of money on booster boxes when I could've just bought the hits I wanted. Isn't that why we most of us like opening packs though? These are no different. I bought 4 and got luck on 2 of mine got black and white pack twice

For any high caliber youtuber or celebrity you're gonna pay a premium on their products. Rev packs arent bad ordered 2 and got a red pack compared to those out there. Imo dannys is the best for the value, but it's a numbers game and people like to gamble just look at the lottery lol
Couldn’t believe my luck when I bought one of these PokeRev V4 mystery packs, I was fortunate to pull a gold pack which contained a vintage Japanese Neo Genesis booster pack.
That’s the first and last time I will buy one of these because I doubt I’ll be able to repeat that again.
These Mystery packs are basically a form of gambling and people who buy them should understand this. You buy these for the chance to hit big just like every other form of gambling and in my opinion, the poke rev mystery packs are the best ones out there.

Of course you’re going to pay more per pack to have the chance at pulling a $300 pack, that’s the gamble and one I’m good with. He can’t sell the packs for $3 each and still throw in vintage packs, he’d be out of business. I understand this is your opinion, but at least he’s a trusted source and everyone stands a chance at getting something good versus the mystery packs you get in Walmart or online.

The modern set have already low pull rates even when you buy a booster box (tested from myself back in the era when you could purchase boxes of ES, CReign without overspending).

Phanny packs are definitely the way to go, 7 packs at $28 with a 1 in 2 chance at harder to find sun and moon or XY pack, and a 1/25 chance at a vintage pack BW or older. Thanks for the great content and honesty Jake, God bless you and your family!!!

Saying you should get 10 packs for $50 and reduce chance of a super rare pack is dumb, it’s low risk, people don’t want that. These packs sell out in their thousands within hours

Why are you so much hating on Rev? Name of the packs is "not that great"? Everything is bad? Packs are bad? For 49 bucks you get 6 packs which is around 8 bucks per pack. Evolving Skies booser is going for 12 easily and don't forget you're gambling so you won't WIN every time. Why so much complaining LOL. Karen mode on? Why don't you make mystery packs yourself? Not sure about pokerev but lately poketubers who make packs or sell packs from boosters weight the packs before reselling. just be cautious out there.
Thats what PokeCollect does. When he opens a box and a hit comes early, he throws the rest of the booster packs into his mystery bags. He grades the high quality cards, and the low quality cards he throws them into his mystery bags. I remember when he sent Unlistedleaf a sample, literally every single bag was a hit, it was crazy. The dude went from an ebay seller to opening his own storefront.
